  1. I went to my monthly support meeting yesterday and got "yelled" at.
They think I'm too rigged with tracking my food, and I'm not eating enough carbs. Not that I should overload with carbs, but I should have more in the morning, and continue to eat a lot less of them in the afternoon and evening.

As for tracking my food, they think I can't continue like I do, and think at one point it'll be what makes me gain weight again. That I'm not on a diet, and that I should build a normal relationship with food.

I would never have made it to a normal BMI without obsessively tracking. I still obsessively track and will for the rest of my life. Otherwise, I know what will happen - it's happened a thousand times before..

  2. Man, oh man... I've lost about 5 lbs in the last 5 weeks. I'm only 7 out from surgery. I'm considering it a stall... and I'm super frustrated!

all I can say is.....get used to it. You'll have lots of weeks like that. As the others have said, just be patient and stick to your plan.

  3. The more weight I lose the fatter I feel. Now I just look like some chick that had a bad breakup and gained 50lbs in year. *sigh*

ha! I was just thinking about this the other day when I was looking at myself in a full-length mirror, obsessed with how "fat" I looked. I am now 12 lbs overweight. I have lost 207 lbs. Am I freaking nuts????

  4. what type of protein brand do you recommend? I'm currently taking Premier Protein and I want more options.

  5. What's with all the bitching about not losing 10 lbs. a day? At least three new whines are posted daily. I have come to the conclusion that the psychologists who do evaluations are asking the wrong questions and not paying attention.

I, too, thought the weight would drop off me. I don't think the psychologist at my center - or anyone else for that matter - mentioned that it just doesn't happen that fast. Then you read about these people losing 30 lbs their first month on internet forums and you assume that happens to everyone. Nope....

  6. I am delighted to report that I am official "overweight"--not "obese" I haven't heard those words since elementary school. Take THAT, Sister Mary Francis!

  7. Just realized my BMI is in the normal range for the first time in 20 years.

  8. Upper GI this morning for reflux. Surgeon wants to revise my sleeve to bypass.

sounds like you're in maintenance. If you want to lose more, you're probably going to have to cut calories.

  10. I am so hella sick of protein shakes. Having to force myself to drink them to get my protein, as the powder makes pre-made pudding and yogurt taste funny. Won't get cleared for puree/soft until Wed afternoon. I'll get through this, but last night I seriously wanted to suck the salt off of a cracker my hubby was eating. LOL. Chew and spit makes more sense in my head now. LOL

I used to drink the Unjury chicken broth a lot as well. It was a nice change from all the sweet protein drinks. I still drink it once in awhile.

  11. Losing slower than I'd like but taking comfort in knowing I'm losing. :)

I was a slow loser. Fifteen pounds during the first month, eleven the second. But I'm fast closing in on 200 lbs lost, though (199.4, to be exact..)

  14. Nervous about going to my one month post-op b/c the scale isn't moving! I am doing everything I am supposed to but has stayed the same since 1 week post-op. urgh!

it's probably the legendary "three-week stall". It's very common. Mine last 2 weeks. Someone on another forum said hers lasted 3 weeks. Just stick to your plan and the weight will start falling off again.

  15. Just realized I am no longer Morbidly Obese and not even Severely Obese - just plain ol' obese now (based on BMI anyway). Hmmm..... strange that actually sounds good?

I'm not quite there yet but close. But I'm starting to feel like a normal fat person rather than a freakishly fat person :-)

  17. Reached 185 lbs. this morn. 147 pounds lost in 11 months---this stuff WORKS!!! Lost 9 lbs. just this past week, amazed it's still coming off... :-)

  18. I haven't been this light since 2003!!!

  19. I really try not to compare myself to others, but I'm feeling jealous of the people who drop weight quickly. Especially when they weigh like 100 pounds less than me.

btw - I think you're losing faster than I am. I had surgery June 3, and I've lost 25 lbs since then.

there are so many things that can affect how quickly you'll lose - age, gender, how much you have to lose, whether or not you lost weight before surgery, etc. I've been a slow loser, so I can relate, but as long as you're sticking to the plan, what more can you do? Your body's going to lose as slowly or as quickly as it wants to, and you only have so much control over that. As long as you're following the plan, you should be fine.
