  1. I get my band on Saturday - 2 days!!!! Not sure I'm ready to post a pic... but nice incentive!!! Are you guys all really in Wisconsin??? I was beginning to think that there weren't ANY Wisconsin people being banded!! Where are you all from??? I'm just outside of Madison. Any advice welcome regarding, well, anything!!! I'm very nervous about the surgery, especially about the pain afterwards, and how mobile I'll be, I'm a real wimp and want SO much to be up and around just a few days later... Thanks to all, take care... and wish me luck! Laura
  2. Glad to hear the good news!! I will be careful, but hope and pray that everything goes great and I can enjoy the trip... Thanks for your help, to all!
  3. I do have these periods where I think "this is so easy why on earth do I have a weight problem" I guess you said it all right there... It is a struggle for everyone, each in his or her own way. I have been following weight watchers for 3+ years and have maintained the 50+ pounds I lost, and am fanatical about eating healthfully. My issue is that I have not reached my goal, and no amount of salads (much information here on that subject!!) may ever get me there. I want to be successful, and this is a life-long battle I intend to win. So thanks for your thoughts, and the very best of luck to you on your journey.
  4. So I'm wondering what things are like 2 months out... I'm sure it's different for everyone, but my husband and I have a trip planned for the 1st / 2nd weeks in December, and I'm getting banded October 1. We'll be scuba diving...and I'm a little worried... just wondered what others' experiences have been like...and any divers out there??? Thanks much, Laura
  5. It's dawned on me how important these boards will be to me as I go through this journey... thanks to everyone for their suggestions and comments - it helps so much just to know that I'm not alone. I've decided not to tell anyone about the surgery - just my husband knows. He's so nervous for me, but so supportive, so I am lucky. Thanks to everyone's comments, I am doing much better today, just feeling more in control and not so anxious to spend the day eating cake...LOL. 13 days to go... I simply can not wait. Laura p.s. anyone from the Wisconsin / Northern Illinois area??
  6. Thanks Terrilen! I think that's a great suggestion - I've read similar things in the past, now that you mention it... just give in and get it over with... I'll have to do my best and hope the next 2 weeks pass quickly!! Laura
  7. Hey all!!! So everything is set... two weeks from today I will be banded and can't wait! Here's my question - and I already know it's self-defeating, but I'm having a serious mental challenge wanting to eat -everything- that I (1) haven't been able to following WW for 3+ years and (2) that I probably won't be able to eat after being banded... it's as if my brain thinks I had better have it now while I can... now, I suppose in small doses, this might not be horrible, for example, yesterday I purchased the baked Cheetoes vs. the really bad deep-fried ones, and didn't eat the whole bag or anything, but I don't want to gain weight before the surgery. Did anyone else experience this??? How did you deal with it? I guess this is the first question of many that I'll have - thanks to everyone... Laura bmi 36... Dr. Kuri 10/1/05

  9. Hi Catherine!! I'm so happy to hear you're feeling pretty good!! My tentative date is 9/30 - hoping to confirm this week. Congratulations!! And any input on how you're feeling is much appreciated!! Laura
  10. Thanks so much for the warm welcome!!! I've learned SO much by reading these boards, and I can't believe how many of us are out there!!! I'm a little nervous, of course, but so excited about actually being able to attain the goal I've had for so long... I lost 50lbs. on WW, but have been stuck there for a long, long time, dieting and exercising along the way, but without any success. It's so frustrating. So I'm so happy to have found a solution that will help me have the power to lose it for good!! I can't wait to go on this journey with everyone - this really is awesome, thank you!!
  11. Thanks Kathy!! I see that you went with Dr. Kuri as well!! Well, I figure, I'm cold now, at least after the band I'll be cold and smaller, instead of cold and frustrated!!!
  12. Hi All! I've been lurking for a week or two and got financing approval today, so there's no turning back, I thought I should introduce myself! I'm planning on having the procedure done 9/30, just working on final details... I'm so grateful for this site and all of the information - answers to so many of my questions. I'll look forward to getting to know everyone, and appreciate the support that you give so freely!! Laura :Bunny
  13. Hello everyone!! I'm a newbie and -plan- to be banded Sept. 30th. My financing was approved today and just have to work out the details with Dr. Kuri's office. I'm not sure where I should introduce myself, so I figured this is as good a place as any... The cold thing is a little scary, since I lost 50lbs. on WW, I have been cold all of the time already, so when I lose the other 50, it worries me that I'll be shivering like a chiwahwa in a snowbank!! It will be worth it, no matter what (that's my story and I'm sticking with it) but it does make me nervous to read this. I guess that's more ammo for hubby to move us to AZ and get us out of WI...
