    Tomorrow is my day!

Nauseous from the pain pump? Tell em. They'll give you good stuff for that by IV. No worries. And hopefully when they move you to oral pain meds (Dilaudid) you'll also ask them for IV Tylenol. The Dilaudid pills are tiny but they will knock you out. 2nd night I took one and later tried to get out of bed. Threw one leg off the bed, closed my eyes for a sec, opened them AN HOUR LATER!!2nd leg...close eyes opened 45 minutes later. 3rd time...closed eyes....anyway took me 3 hours to get out of bed. The IV Tylenol was sent by the Good Lord...kills the pain...leaves the brain...awake. 5 days post I haven't touched narcotics....just oral Tylenol 2x per day. YOU WILL BE GREAT! Your life has forever changed along with all of ours. Get ready for cottage cheese...tiny spoonfuls that fill you up. GOD BLESS YOU WITH A SPEEDY HEALING!!The world awaits!!

    Tomorrow is my day!

Don't get so overjoyed. You have a hard 48 hours in front of you. As wonderful as this surgery is in producing results...it gives your body a pounding. Walk walk walk walk walk. Just do those slow laps around the floor and push that pain pump button. I should know. I had my procedure on Friday. But by Friday YOU will feel 100% better than Thursday and a week from today when you are chowing down on tiny spoonfuls of cottage cheese and really seeing how it tastes...you'll be good.

    Overnight Bag

Just had mine on 6/26. Brought a bag never used anything except underwear and toothbrush, toothpaste. Didn't use the books or papers I brought. You will be doped up on narcotics for the first 24 hours post surgery because it hurts. And you do want to walk, walk and more walk. The narcotics make it possible to walk so make sure that before they get you up and walking...push that button on the "pain pump". After the 1st 24 hours they administered IV Tylenol which made it possible for me to walk 5 laps around the floor at a time because it dulls the pain so effectively and doesn't knock you out. If they offer Dilaudid...be aware that it is the kind of narcotic that makes you close your eyes mid-sentence and then continue your train of thought an hour later....took 3 hours to get out of bed on oral Dilaudid. Kept closing my eyes. Also, if they offer simethicone...doesn't do much. You have to walk, even super slowly clutching a pillow to your belly at first, but walking is the way to get the gas absorbed by the body and get your system working quickly and smoothly.
  6. Looking for some solid recommendations for an iOS app that will allow me to track Fluid consumption as well as Protein. Anyone have any good experiences with a particular one ? Much appreciated. Jeff

    Where is everyone from?

Not the same. I guess veggies/hummus/crackers will do come September. But until then?

  10. Hi- I'm Jeff, a 50 year old Marylander who just underwent a sleeve on Friday. After a miserable Saturday and a terrible Sunday morning things picked up and I am home. Drank some medicine cups of Water, some Premier Protein chocolate and now having some warm chicken broth. Still pretty sore, but after all- they yanked a big chunk of a major organ out of my side...so what should I expect. Walking has been key...took a nap this afternoon and then walked outside for 24 minutes...clearly too much for 2 days post. I hope to be able to read some inspiring stories on this forum, to hear people's frustrations (mine? I came home and was HUNGRY!!) and to Celebrate their triumphs. Hopefully this will turn out to be a life changer for me. What can I expect these next few days as I consume liquids and more liquids. When does the belly feel better? Let me hear from you ! God Bless, Jeff
