  1. Hey people, would anyone in these areas like to start a local support group? At least on Facebook so we can have another place to post and talk. Me personally- going to Dr. Perez at Holy Cross hospital. I hope to hear from a lot of people ! -Christina
  2. Hey ladies how have you all been ?!
  3. Hey people, random question here... Any of you at some point start feeling super tired really fast and/or had that "I wanna faint" feeling ? I've been experiencing that the past week and not sure why. Everything I consume is hitting me extremely faster than before. Like wine, or coffee. Within minutes I'm tipsy or super caffeinated. ( wasn't happening before )I completely forgot about the Vitamins and have started taking them for the past 5 days but I'm not sure if that's what's causing this. I'm 6 months post op and hadn't had any of these issues before.

    Feeling crappy lately

I had blood work done 2 months ago and everything was good. I've upped my water intake as well. Just a scary feeling that i feel like I can faint randomly. My actual 6 month mark is in January but I have new insurance that doesn't cover Bariatric anything so maybe I'll get my primary to order more blood work. Thanks

  6. Hey ! This past month has been at a stall for me, only losing a whooping 3 pounds ! But in fairness i started a new habit called chips... Yep, stupid. I got off the chips and back in the gym with the trainer for the last week and the pounds are dropping again. Sorry you're having gas pains, I wish I had a helpful tip aside from "let it go" lol lately I'll randomly get a sharp/burning pain in the area where the internal stitch is after eating, has that happened to you ?
  7. Hey everyone, I'm 2 1/2 months out from bypass surgery, and I'm really curious to know a couple things about drinking after surgery... Also, I should mention I'm only asking because I got an OK from my doctor to be able to drink on a special occasion: my birthday, just would like some ideas, thank you in advance ! -How fast does alcohol hit you, and how much does it take before you feel it? -How long do you feel the effects for ? -Is it over fast, if so, do you drink more ? -What kind of drinks do you have ? -Any cocktail suggestions that don't make you dump ?

    Alcoholic drinks after surgery

I tried Mio, water and vodka and omg, it was GROSS. I tried 2 favors and it just wasn't for me, but maybe crystal light is better. Sugar free strawberry jello with strawberry vodka... Yum

    Alcoholic drinks after surgery

Likewise ! I finally drank this past weekend, 3 1/2 months out and nothing happened. I didn't drink as much as before surgery but I had a handful of sugar free Jell-O shots and about half a glass of a margarita AND half a glass of vodka & lemonade and I was at best tipsy. I paced myself but nothing happened to me either. I was looking forward to being a light weight. I found that wine hit me harder after about a glass to a glass and a half.
  11. Hey guys, any one know a recipe for sugar free Jell-O shots made with vodka ? It's really hard to find an accurate one since the package size is smaller than the regular ones. Also, do they taste good or do you compensate with other ingredients ?

    Multi chewable vitamin

I use building blocks vitamins, they're a bit pricey but I like the way they taste. Chocolate flavor was ok, but black raspberry was my favorite. Celebrate sent me a box of samples for $3... Pretty sure they still do that, they're not bad but I like building blocks vitamins better, they come in bundles and separates. Multi, anti ox, calcium and iron cost about $65 and you get them the next day. Hope this helps !
  13. Sorry but if you get a chance, try it again ! I swear it tastes almost like the real thing ! Congrats on your weight loss ! I hit 50 pounds a couple days ago. I got the shot as birth control and it's really messing with my weight loss, but the way I look at it, we wouldn't be this much lighter if we didn't do it ! I posted this on Facebook yesterday lol.
  14. I tried half a glass of wine for my birthday and I couldn't tell if I was "feeling it" but I suddenly felt hyper ???? I asked my doc, he said one night isn't bad and the risk of transfer addiction is very slim. I'm not a big drinker but I had a BYOB paint thing soo I had to ???? Yes, you over cooked it. I made it last night and I did too, it came out a bit mushy but I'm not sure if it's cause I cooked it too long or cause I let it cool down too long before I "forked" it. Did you end up eating it or tossing it ?

    Alcoholic drinks after surgery

I think we should all know not to drink and drink. I just want tips, not judgment, I'm fully aware of the risks and have been debating this for awhile. Thanks for the pointers guys
  16. At this point, I'm allowed to have it but I'm terrified to try it again, it hurts like a bee still for me ! So it depends when you can tolerate it. A lot of people complain about chewable vitamins but I still take them because I end up drinking a glass of water in between chewing each one. I use Building blocks & they're not bad. Get in your vitamins girls ! Lol

    Alcoholic drinks after surgery

I'm scared too, and my doc said that the percentage of transferring addictions is low and nothing to worry about. Good for you for waiting

    Alcoholic drinks after surgery

How long do the effects of the wine last ? My doctor recommends a year of not drinking from surgery, but he said it's ok for one night, and to try it out at home first. I'm not big on drinking but I'd like to enjoy a night out with friends.
  22. Been craving something dangerously sweet and fattening alllllll night. Ice cream, or cake or chocolate. Opted out for this... One banana, one spoonful of peanut butter, one scoop of whey vanilla, ice, and one cup of milk. #YUM almost reminds me of Reese's ???? I bet chocolate protein would really do the trick
  23. Yep, excited to start over but terrified of the surgery... I honestly didn't believe I was going through with it until they rolled me into the OR lol. I cried a lot too but It's a good thing, great things will come of it for you. Once you're in the groove of things life becomes normal again & you'll be doing things you didn't think you had the will power for.
  24. It honestly tastes like Pasta when you season it... You cut the squash in half lengthwise, scoop out the seeds, then use olive oil salt pepper, whatever you like - I used garlic powder as well. Then you line a pan with foil and place the cut side down, add a little Water so it's not sizzling and cover it. Preheat the oven 450 and leave it in there for 30-45 mins, mine took about 45-50 mins and at 35 mins I uncovered it. If you can pierce a fork through the squash, (through the peel) it's ready. Let it cool down for 10 mins or so and then use a fork from top to bottom and rake it. Super easy. I add olive oil and other spices only to my serving instead of the whole bowl. Hope you love it ! Also it's a yellow squash and it looks like an elongated melon, it says spaghetti squash on it

    Regrets?

Recovery was a total b**** for me. I was nervous about how bad it could be... And it was worse than I imagined ! I had the bypass June 30... There is a silver lining I promise ! One day you're going to wake up and feel like yourself again. Right now, just try to keep positive and rest up. Try talking to your friend because no one knows how crappy you feel unless you've gone through it. I couldn't believe they wanted me to walk almost an hour a day when I came home from the hospital when I could barely stand up straight... You're energy will increase after 6 weeks for now do the best you can !
