Surgery in 20 days
I'm on day 10 now and have much better energy if I have had a good nights sleep (duh, I know ????). However do not over exert yourself, listen to your body. If you need to sit, sit. Some people bounce back right away! I have heard that walking before surgery helps a lot too.

Surgery in 20 days
Hmmm. The one thing I wish I would have known is that every body reacts differently to surgery. I heard so many stories about how wonderful people felt the day of surgery and I went in knowing I would be a superstar like that too. Well it did not work like that. I was a hot mess after surgery and instantly wondered if I did the right thing. What I went through wAs completely normal and thank goodness for this community because I learned I wasn't alone. I just needed lots of rest and water. I'm 10 days post op and each day gets better.

Sharp stabbing pain periodically on left side
My dr told me that sharp pains are okay. It's just the body readjusting and the nerve endings are getting back in position. He says to pay more attention to persistent pain that increases in severity and doesn't go away.

Dull pain in lower back
Hi all I am 9 days post op and really uncomfortable. I have a dull pain all over my lower back that sometimes radiates to the front. I drink anywhere between 48-64oz of water per day. I had stopped taking my pain meds but restarted when this pain began yesterday. I thought it was because I had drank iced tea but that was once, on the 7th. My urine is really dark though which leads me to believe I'm dehydrated. I would appreciate any help. I'm worried!

June 29th Bypass Surgery
You have eaten Mac and cheese? How'd you do with it? One of my food funerals was Mac and cheese yum I don't have the protein powder, I guess I'll have to get some. I also have not done any vegetables. I'm worried about gas but also that mushy broccoli makes me gag thinking about it!!

June 29th Bypass Surgery
Well, I have PB2 as a snack sometimes. Hummus, Danon light and fit Greek yogurt, canned peaches in water not syrup, black beans and Refried beans with a little cheese and mild sauce, chunky potato soup, mashed potatoes with cheese. I'm hoping to hard boil some eggs and make an egg salad which dr said was fine as long as I chew it to bits or I can purée it in blender. I bet you can't wait!!! I'm on mushy foods for two weeks. As of right now I'm too tired to get creative with my options so I'm just doing boring basics. I'm not tolerating my protein shakes very well (burp up shakes afterwards) so need to get in more protein.

June 29th Bypass Surgery
Hey guys~ well I'm now 9 days post op and today I am soooo tired. Complete lethargy. I haven't been this tired yet. Seems weird because I'm on mushy foods and getting more nutrients than I had the first week post op. My goodness, I'm a walking zombie! I'm also having dull aches in my back, specifically near my kidneys. I'm drinking about 64 oz of water per day but can't kick the dull ache. Any ideas or advice? I currently have heating pad on my back and it's helping a lot!! Oh also, TMI but I'm back to having regular BMs but this morning there were oil drops in the water...??? What is that?!?! I have been very strict on the diet so can't imagine where that's coming from. I am so glad to have you guys to bounce questions and ideas off of. Thank you in advance!!!☺️

2 Weeks Post-Op - Pureed food!
My dr said to consider this stage the "grazing" stage. Eat smalls amounts often. I had some oatmeal this morning and would take a few bites with the baby spoon then a while later do that again. It's probably really tough to do that though if you're working. Thankfully I'm on summer break so I can experiment. Best of luck!
