  1. I had an abdominal binder from my surgeon right after surgery.
  2. RN here. I told a few people at work about my surgery. I was going to keep it quiet, but I felt like a fraud when people asked what I was doing. Lol. Quite a few others nurses had the surgery and everyone was supportive and congratulatory about making a life style change.
  3. Bellyaches are probably gas. Took me a few weeks to get gas under control. You will have a lot of aching, you just underwent a big time surgery. Think about how deep they went into your belly. Is cream of wheat on your list of ok foods this early out? Try avoiding lactose, it kills my belly. Good luck.
  4. I'm 4 wks out and I finally installed the garbage disposal I bought for my mom in Mothers Day. Soo, I think now ????
  5. I think you were misinformed or even not informed enough prior to surgery IMO.
  6. I'm 4 wks out today, discussed this my NUT today and she said worry more about grams of sugar than carbs.
  7. Anyone take meds for insomnia or anxiety and they just don't work anymore? I cannot sleep!!!
  8. Anyone else get back tongue from pepto bismal ?
  9. I have issues from the artificial sweeteners. Gross taste in my mouth all the time!!!
  10. That's what doctors get the big money for....inconvenience. I would see him ftf asap or ER. I had issues with one of my incisions, always felt like it was ripping inside or something. I'm 3wks out and that spot still isn't closed (my fault for scab picking), but I use an abdominal binder to support my belly and that ripping feeling and it does wonders.
  11. That's the first thing I complained about at my 1 week follow up. I'm 3 wks now and it doesn't happen anymore
  12. When u eat and you have a lot of mucos in your throat. Almost foamy like. Just can't swallow it, it just hangs out in your throat.
  13. I am 3wks out. Haven't used anything for scars yet. Btw I have 2 more that I couldn't get in the shot. These are my biggest incisions.
  14. You are probably thinking just one laparoscopic site, but a single site is like the big scar from open heart surgery, but lower. I think you have your thought twisted some. Not everyone can be operated on laparoscopically....so instead of the surgeon being able to make the 5 small incisions....he might have to make the long incision.
  15. I had surgery on the 18th, I'm at a stall right now too. I was at 280 day of surgery, first week I lost 14lbs second week I was at 262. And I've hung out at 262lbs since last Thursday. I'm just staying calm about things.
  16. Thanks guys. For the rest of the day I really watched how much I ate, I can only eat a couple bites (literally 2) during meals. I'm assuming that I have to eat even less than what I'm allowed.
  17. I've had PEs( blood clots in the lungs) and I had surgery almost 3wks ago. My blood clots occurred back in October and I've been on Xarelto since then. Preop I went off of it for 3 days (surgeons orders and hematologist agreed) and 3 days later I was started back on the xarelto. I had no problems, I was on compression hose post op and SCD machine to keep blood flow good at hospital. On another note, my hematologist said being overweight and me having PCOS puts me at higher risks of clots. Good luck. Hope this helped.
  18. How does everyone cope? Here lately I get the Slimies every time I eat, no matter how slow or why I eat. Any suggestions? Maybe step back to previous diet ?
  19. Tomorrow I will be 3 weeks post op. For the past few days, every time I eat I get the Slimies. I just ate a very soft scrambled egg (I am allowed this btw) and I'm suffering. I ate it very slow (can't imagine eating it over 20 minutes) and I still got the Slimies. Any suggestions?
  20. Is go with using a good ol tablespoon. For example, 3 ounces of popcorn takes up a ton of space compared to 3oz of a shake. (I know we don't do popcorn).
  21. I tried it and I was sleeved 6/18 and it was just a sip. Gave me the Slimes and I eventually puked because it gave me horrible chest pain. I am finding that I have to experience these horrible things to learn and get over the obsessive cravings for certain food. I literally had a bit of cheeseburger and 3 fries even though I read post about the horror and pain of eating what we shouldn't...and now I'm turned off totally from burgers and fries. P.S. I'm a nurse and we are notorious for being bad patients. Lol
