I asked about the catheter and if they used drains or not. I will say I find it so interesting how different every ones experiences are. I was given ice chips soon as I was awake in recovery and I was also given a bite of applesauce with crushed meds in it in recovery. Also my dr does the leak test in the operating room while the patients unconscious so that there's no need to go through more discomfort the next day.

need help with vitamins
reree6898 replied to meganmom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Of course you will want to check with your dr and or nut but I use two flintstones complete (the ones with iron) a day and the 500 milligram chewable calcium twice a day from bariatric advantage and all my blood work is great. -
What to bring day of surgery!?!
reree6898 replied to bluejeanbaby's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The only things I used were my phone, glasses, and toothbrush/paste. I brought other things like my robe and slippers but did not need them cause they made me wear slipper socks and you can't get the robe over the IV lines. Take as little as possible to keep it simple. -
I use blogger from google

First Thanksgiving with the sleeve
reree6898 replied to sbg224's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am about 8&1/2 weeks out. On my plate I had 2oz turkey breast, a teaspoon of mashed potatoes and a teaspoon of Mac n cheese, and one spinach puffed pastry and did not eat it all because I stopped when I was satisfied. I too was glad that I did not end up stuffed and miserable like several others at dinner. It was so good to feel in control today. -
There is a brand called smartlife and they have a light version that is only 35 calories per cup and it is very good. I eat a cup a few times a week with my nuts blessing. For me it helps fill the void of not eating chips.

What are those little tape strips called?
reree6898 replied to CowgirlJane's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Steri strips is what I've always heard. -
Weight Loss is never consistent. I have never heard the pound a day for three months theory before. Today marks 8 weeks out for me and I've lost 40 lbs. there will be stalls and times of rapid loss. Just sick to what your dr and nut have directed you to do and you will do fine.

Recommendation for hummus
reree6898 replied to gsusser's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The one at Aldi is made by sabarra but under a private label name for aldi, even though the packaging is the same, so it can be sold at half the price. -
Recommendation for hummus

If you have an Aldi by you they have hummus there that my family loves that is very reasonably priced. -

Amazing job! -
Yes!!! It's so frustrating because the one at my dr shows 6 lbs heavier then my one that I use everyday at home. I made the decision to track only using my scale so that it's the same scale in the same place and I'm weighed at the same time everyday.

Stupid things people say when they find out you've had surgery....
reree6898 replied to Awjones28's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I agree with @vsgann2014. That woman should be reported, that is very unprofessional and rude. By the way, amazing job with your weight loss!! Very inspiring! ???? -

Starvation, when you transfer your addiction from eating to losing weight
reree6898 replied to winklie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good, glad to hear you had a better day. -
So I had to share with people who can relate. I was getting ready for work this morning and was able to wear a much smaller pair of jeans that I haven't been able to wear in years. I asked my 15 yr old daughter if I looked ok and she welled up in tears, hugged me, and told me how great I looked and how proud of me she is. Made me feel so good. ????

Starvation, when you transfer your addiction from eating to losing weight
reree6898 replied to winklie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds like you went into starvation mode. I'd agree to increase calories back up cause if you stay in starvation too long you can really damage your metabolism big time then it gets even harder. I've had to fight to make myself stay at or above 600 calories a day so that I don't hit starvation mode myself. What works best for me is doing one day of a bit higher calories then one day lower and it helps keep my body guessing so that I am losing pretty consistently. Hope you find what works for you! -
Seeing large amounts of food make me feel sick
reree6898 replied to PayItForward's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Yeah, it's like changed my whole outlook on food and portions. I'm at about six weeks out from surgery and after I healed and started cooking for my family again I have started dishing them smaller portions cause even normal ones just seem like too much.
