  5. 5 weeks out and really bad leg pain....help!

Just realized you were sleeved... perhaps a multivitamin isn't required for sleeves? I had leg pain that came and went the first few months. I think part of it was trying to push myself too hard with walking... but I also noticed as I was able to eat more, and moved into soft foods, the leg pain went away.

Any issues with staying hydrated? Have you been taking your vitamins consistently?

  7. It's a heart-crushing feeling when you're told that your knee is almost certainly going to prevent you from running... ever again. There goals one of the biggest exercise goals I was looking forward to. D:

Sorry to hear... is cycling an option? If you had goals of running a 5K or something, maybe you could find an equivalent bicycle race/event.

  8. Just realized that having hot coco in the evenings is a bit of a trigger for me. Guess I'll stick with herbal tea.

Trigger for hunger? For me, I find a cup of black coffee suppresses my evening appetite... unfortunately I don't like decaf, so I have to remember not to drink it too late or I'll struggle to fall asleep at a decent hour.

  11. This is what our society has done to the holiday season. It's dusgusting. I will NEVER give this much power to a dollar bill. The buffoonery. It will be a cold day in hell when you see me shopping on thanksgiving or black friday. I cherish the time spent with my loved ones.

Another perspective, I worked at a major retailer that was open 24 hrs per day, 365 days a year (CVS) when I was finishing my engineering degree. Due to some major life events (birth of my daughter during undergrad) I had to work full time there while going to school full time. As such, I worked every holiday I could as I would be paid double time on top of the 8 hours of holiday pay I would get paid out. I worked Thanksgiving and black friday... I worked the midnight Christmas Eve to Christmas morning shift... Easter Sunday, New Years Day, etc. I still got plenty of time to spend with my young family, but that extra cash came in very handy to pay the bills. I don't regret working those days. No obviously mine was a unique situation, but keep in mind there are many people working over the Holidays that want to be there.

You got this! I;m right with you, looking to hit 325 by Xmas (need to lose 13 more lbs) which will put me at 100 pounds lost from when I started the 2 week preop diet.

Thanks you two. It's been a good week of NSV's... bought my very first new car, a mid-size which I never thought I'd be able to fit in. Also sat in a booth when I took my kids to subway. Times are good.

  16. I just bought a bike! So excited to get out and ride. For a week. Then will be so excited to ride in the spring!

@dlappjr I agree on the color, very sharp. That'll work well as a hybrid bike. I have a fully-rigid redline I'm going to start riding again soon. My plan would be to turn it into a commuter with thinner tires if I were to buy a new bike for trail riding.

That is a gorgeous looking bike! When I lose some more weight I'll probably look at getting a new bike to start trail riding, always been a trek fan. My older brother still does a bunch of mountain biking with his trek 930 single track he bought in the early 90s. Have fun!

  19. 6 Weeks post-op today... 46 lbs down since the morning of surgery., 67 lbs down since pre-op diet. Still don't feel like I see a change in the mirror, though people say they notice one. The mental part of this journey can often be the most difficult to control.

    1. goblue9280

      goblue9280

@dlappjr - Thanks man, appreciate the support! I do feel it in my clothes, but I have so much to lose, I know it's just going to take some time before I really start to notice it in the mirror.

@beachgal2935 - I intended to, but things were so hectic the days leading up to and directly after surgery that I forgot to get some before pics. At 3-weeks I took some pictures, and did it again today. I figure I'll take some again at 2 months, and then maybe monthly from then on. I went to Chicago last weekend with my son for a hockey tournament and my parents met us there. It was the first time in years that I let anyone take pictures of me... so I feel I'm getting there mentally.
