Kimmy0926 got a reaction from Melody Renique in HOW LONG BEFORE THE WEIGHT LOSS STOPS?
Hello! I was sleeved 6/30/15 - when I felt that what I had lost was enough and started looking too thin in my face especially, I bumped up my calorie intake by 200 calories. I went with that for about 2 weeks, adjusted to the new amount of calories and put back 5 pounds on. It made ALL THE DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD! I've been holding steady for 6 months now only teetering when my monthly is due. Good Luck!! Hope this info helps.

Hello! I have PCOS but no diabetes. I too found it very difficult to lose the necessary weight prior to surgery. I incorporated Premier Protein shakes (30g) as a Meal Replacement at least once a day. Cut all carbs - it will be difficult but WORTH IT! No Pop, Crystal Light will become a good friend - plenty of Water to flush everything out and walk! I hope this helps - good luck!!

I was nervous as well and had plenty of "doubters" - I can't believe I waited until I was 41 to get this done!! I feel so much better now and wish I would have done it 10 years earlier!! There's a little fear in any big adventure we are about to embark upon...have faith, read articles, go to the seminars. The more educated you are, the more comfortable you will feel with the procedure, process etc. Good luck!!!

Hi! I was sleeved 6/30/15 - SW 300 CW 158 - I HAVE NO REGRETS!!! I did not have the single incision, there were three tiny incisions. I didn't have any issues after surgery and was amazed at how little time it took to heal and go back to work. I wish you the best of luck!!!

Kimmy0926 got a reaction from Julie norton in How to tell if you're in starvation mode?
I believe "Starvation mode" is real....after my Sleeve I was burning more calories in my initial workouts than I was eating and the weight loss slowed tremendously. Once I at least equaled them out, it started to get better. Then I was losing too much and started looking gaunt and added 200 calories to balance everything back out.
Also - if you're weight gets to a point where you've previously been stuck at, it will take a little bit for your body to move past that weight. It's trying to stay in the pattern its used to and you have to "break that pattern"

Kimmy0926 got a reaction from MeltsIntoWonder in When does eating feel "normal"?
Hi! It took awhile before eating was "normal" - there was a period of time where I didn't even cook for my family post op because I didn't wan to look at food, let alone have that "heavy" feeling and uncomfortableness. I can say that carbs are the worst!! They will sit heavy no matter how long since surgery....at least that's my experience. Once you are able to eat soft foods, and so on just really, NO REALLY...TAKE YOUR TIME EATING...it makes ALL THE DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD!!! I thought I had slowed down eating and I had but you truly need to eat like a snail...lol It will help with the digestion and less heavy feeling. Good luck!!!!

Watch those nuts. Sneeky buggers. I find they stick with me way to long and hinder weight loss. It is also very easy to eat more of them than you intend.

From what some of the veterans have said on here, you should be getting around 1000-1200 calories a day. Are you getting that many? Especially with the exercise.
Also 100 grams of Protein, under 30 carbs a day and lots of liquids... at least that is what is helping me lose.
    Good luck to you.

Kimmy0926 reacted to Please in Dealing with an unsupportive husband...help!
I don't mean this in a rude way, but you seem very needy. There's no reson you need him at appointments. I mean is 2 people taking time off work for one persons appointments. He's just scared something will happen to you, maybe if you seemed stronger , he would too. I went for my surgery alone to mexico and the husband stayed home with the kids. He wasn't crazy about the idea, but it's not his body. Anyway, as I said.....please don't take it the wrong way, be strong and attend your meetings on your own. my husband wouldn't attend a meeting with me either, not that I'd asked, but I wouldn't even expect him to you. We been together 20 years and have a great relationship, but I did it for me and I never let on I was scared or it would scare him.

food that mashes down into a tiny pulp and slides through your stomach without engaging your restriction. My dietician said (jokingly) it is everything that starts with a "c" other than chicken or cauliflower: cake, candy, Cookies, chips, cupcakes, (ice) cream, etc. Basically if it is carb-heavy or sugar-heavy it is likely to be a slider food.

For me, a slider is any food that I can eat mindlessly without engaging a restriction. And yes, it usually starts with a C or is the color white (potatoes, bananas, Pasta, bread, sugar, flour, pancakes...that sort of thing).
