    Slooooow loss

Watch the carbs!!! Those are the worst for me!!!! Good Luck!!! I've also been told that you're body can stall at weights we've previously been stuck at in the past and it just takes time for the body to finally let it go!

    Any Regrets?

Hi! I was sleeved 6/30/15 - SW 300 CW 158 - I HAVE NO REGRETS!!! I did not have the single incision, there were three tiny incisions. I didn't have any issues after surgery and was amazed at how little time it took to heal and go back to work. I wish you the best of luck!!!

    Starting to doubt

I was nervous as well and had plenty of "doubters" - I can't believe I waited until I was 41 to get this done!! I feel so much better now and wish I would have done it 10 years earlier!! There's a little fear in any big adventure we are about to embark upon...have faith, read articles, go to the seminars. The more educated you are, the more comfortable you will feel with the procedure, process etc. Good luck!!!
  4. Hello! I have PCOS but no diabetes. I too found it very difficult to lose the necessary weight prior to surgery. I incorporated Premier Protein shakes (30g) as a meal replacement at least once a day. Cut all carbs - it will be difficult but WORTH IT! No Pop, Crystal Light will become a good friend - plenty of water to flush everything out and walk! I hope this helps - good luck!!
  5. I believe "Starvation mode" is real....after my Sleeve I was burning more calories in my initial workouts than I was eating and the weight loss slowed tremendously. Once I at least equaled them out, it started to get better. Then I was losing too much and started looking gaunt and added 200 calories to balance everything back out. Also - if you're weight gets to a point where you've previously been stuck at, it will take a little bit for your body to move past that weight. It's trying to stay in the pattern its used to and you have to "break that pattern" SW-300 CW-158 Sleeved 6/30/15

    When does eating feel "normal"?

Hi! It took awhile before eating was "normal" - there was a period of time where I didn't even cook for my family post op because I didn't wan to look at food, let alone have that "heavy" feeling and uncomfortableness. I can say that carbs are the worst!! They will sit heavy no matter how long since surgery....at least that's my experience. Once you are able to eat soft foods, and so on just really, NO REALLY...TAKE YOUR TIME EATING...it makes ALL THE DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD!!! I thought I had slowed down eating and I had but you truly need to eat like a snail...lol It will help with the digestion and less heavy feeling. Good luck!!!!
  7. Hello! I was sleeved 6/30/15 - when I felt that what I had lost was enough and started looking too thin in my face especially, I bumped up my calorie intake by 200 calories. I went with that for about 2 weeks, adjusted to the new amount of calories and put back 5 pounds on. It made ALL THE DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD! I've been holding steady for 6 months now only teetering when my monthly is due. Good Luck!! Hope this info helps.
  8. Hello! I too had to go through the 6 month supervised visits before my insurance would approve the surgery. It may seem daunting now, but the time will fly and before you know it that approval paperwork will be in your hands. My surgery is Tuesday, only 5 days away!! When starting it seemed like it was going to take forever but it's all well worth it. Good Luck!!
  9. Hi, I'm new to the site and have started to read some of your journeys. My name is Kim, 39 years old, married with two boys. My oldest is 17 and youngest is 5. My family is very supportive of the decision to have VSG. I've struggled with my weight since I was a child and it also runs in my family. Out of 7 siblings, only one is not over weight and he had VSG done about a year ago and looks wonderful. I've made many attempts to lose weight on my own. With having PCOS and really bad arthritis in both knees, I haven't had much luck. I would lose about 15-20 pounds only to turn around and gain those same 15-20 pounds back again. My weight and PCOS prevented us from getting pregnant a second time for 12 years. I was able to lost 40 pounds when my doctor put me on Metformin ( I do not have diabetes) and that did the trick 6 years ago. We tried that again about a year ago without any luck. So, here I am....drinking my Protein shakes and eating my sugar free Jello preparing for the day. All pre-surgical testing done and clear. I've just been reviewing all the documents received to make sure I'm not missing anything for the big day. I look forward to sharing my journey with you. Thanks for listening (reading)! Kim

Less than 48 hours till surgery.

Hang in there!! I have 6 days until mine and understand getting more nervous as the day approaches. Remember your "WHY", I'll be praying for strength and steady hands during your surgery.
