    APPROVED!

Thank you, congrats to you! The office called and told me to be expecting a call today from the nurse to set up my appointment. I'm anxiously waiting. How long did they take to approve you? Did you get the soonest date that was available for surgery? Sorry I'm asking so many questions Sent from my 0PM92 using the BariatricPal App When I called my insurance they told me the request was sent to them on May 11th (my birthday) and I was approved May 20th. I was going to have the surgery May 31st but with it was best I waited til the kids were out of school. So I had my pre op appointment June 8th and had surgery June 14th. I was only in the hospital overnight. My surgery took longer to do because when I was a very little baby I had surgery to repair my diaphragm. I also had a feeding tube incision. The sleeve was started at 11 am and I got into a room by 4 pm. I believe I was in recovery for one hour. The doctors that were in the OR told me it took twice as long to do. But I didn't get the nausea or vomiting. I had lots of gas pain. But of course I started walking within a hour or so of getting into a room. I did good. There was requirements I had to do before I was discharged. For instance I had to drink a certain amount of Water. Oh, the ride home on the freeway was horrible because of all the bumps. But recovery wasn't too bad. Now, I still have a umbilical hernia. They told me that they were not fixing it during surgery until I have lost the weight because it could come back. So sometime I will have that fixed. Anyways, if you have questions please feel free to message me! Sent from my Z959 using the BariatricPal App

    Diabetes

My suggestion is to get a hold of either your primary doctor or surgeons office. How often do you check your bs? I check twice a day once in am which is a fasting result of like 80. And once before bed time. I was off metformin immediately after surgery. You diabetes should get better or disappear. I had surgery June 14th 16 and I had labs done from my primary doc to check the usual stuff and she wanted a A1c..my a1c before surgery was 6.4. Now it is 5.2. I do get worried sometimes cuz my blood pressure runs low now too. I have been off blood pressure meds for about 2 months and it's running normal. Example is 93/71. Anyways I better get off of this. I am 4 months out and don't go back til December 5th to the surgeons office for a follow up. I'm down 72lbs. You will be glad you made this decision to get healthy!! 12. Hey, my name is Stephanie! I was sleeved June 14th 2016 and went from 300 lbs to 228 lbs as of today!! I have a long road to go to get to 135 lbs. But I'm glad I got this surgery. After the surgery I was put in a hospital room over night. Immediately I was off my diabetic medication. I was on my BP med for a couple weeks, but my blood pressure was getting back to normal. I was off almost all the meds I needed for medical reasons. My blood sugars are 80 in the morning and in the 80's before bed. I'm in great health. My sleep apnea has improved. I had to have the pressure dropped from 12cm to 5cm. Atm I am slacking on exercises. I will be walking in the house more because it's raining here. Anyways here are some pics... Purple shirt was at 300# and the tank top was at 230 something. I haven't taken a recent pic in a few days. Sent from my Z959 using the BariatricPal App

    TV Show My 600lb Life

Lol! The show is good to a point, what scared me before having surgery was what if the doctor says I gained so much weight and he couldn't do the surgery. Some surgeons can be very ugly to patients. But that wasn't the case I had my pre op appointment a week before June 14th 2016. Anyways, keep watching the show, you will start changing your habits. I know I did. Sent from my Z959 using the BariatricPal App
  14. I have no Gerd he just thought I would lose more weight with the DS I'm at 60bmi.. Tonight I read on the 400 plus forum plenty people lost 200 and 300lbs with the sleeve. I read with the bypass there is more maintenance and post op doctor visits than the sleeve.I'm petrified of having my stomach rerouted. Thank goddess for this forum and all you great people. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I am glad I was sleeved! I went in June 15th 2015 for my consult and wanted bypass. But my surgeon said sleeve would be best for me. I'm glad because my mom had bypass when they first started doing them and she has had nothing but problems with needing more surgeries. Plus I didn't really want my intestines re routed. So, anyways I had tests to do and I got surgery set for June 14th 2016 almost one yr to the day I had my first consult. I better get off this is getting lengthy. Take care! Oh and definitely get a second opinion. Out of those weight loss surgeries I feel the sleeve is the best option. Sent from my Z959 using the BariatricPal App

    TV Show My 600lb Life

I used to watch that show before I had sleeve gastrectomy surgery. It made me cry because I was turning into what I feared the most... Being a huge person with a food addiction! But after I was sleeved 6/14/16, I don't watch that show. I have lost at total of 72 pounds. I was 300, today I am 228. Sent from my Z959 using the BariatricPal App
