sweetsavannah got a reaction from Amelie2016 in Vitamin Help Please :)
    Good morning lovely people!
I'm 21 days post-op and desperate to find a Multi-Vitamin that I'll be able to stomach. I tried opurity after surgery and it made me nauseous almost to the point of vomiting 3 times in a row, so I gave up. My surgeon's office didn't have any other recommendations, however they did clear me to take regular Vitamins now. I'm trying not to spend hundreds of dollars trying to find the right Vitamin, but I know it might have to happen since everyone is different.
Does anyone love their multi-vitamin? I'm open to all recommendations. I can take chewables, regular vitamins, or gummies (will have to check the sugar though).
    Thanks in advance!

I understand the temptation, believe me. I was at a super bowl party one week post-op and had major temptations to eat what everyone else was eating instead of sipping on Soup. I even cried over it. But you have to resist these temptations for your own health. This isn't like any diet plan you've tried before where you slip up and think, well tomorrow will be a better day. You could seriously damage your insides if you don't stick to the doctor's plan. Please do everything in your power to prevent this from happening again. If you need to leave the room while others are eating, do it. If you need to ask that others not eat in front of you, do that too. You need to think about the damage that you could do to yourself. Find a support person who will tell you NO when your mind says yes. My mom was that person for me...without her, I probably would have cheated a couple of weeks in!

I love my sleeve! I was personally against WLS for myself until I heard about the sleeve. I'm only 10 weeks out and it has already changed my life for the better. My reasons for not getting bypass was because it seemed too invasive, I didn't want my intestines rerouted, didn't want dumping syndrome or malabsorption issues, and the recovery time was longer. I also know several people who had bypass and regained their weight -- now, please know that this is true of ALL surgeries and is not a fault of the surgery itself in most cases, but it was still part of my decision back then. Overall I'm happy with my decision to have the sleeve so far and I would still be over 300 pounds if I had not decided to have it (diet/exercise never worked well enough and I didn't want bypass, lapband, etc).
Best of luck in your decision making!

Gas pain sucks! How much are you walking? That is the only true remedy, in my opinion. Walk, walk, walk all day long! If you have incision pain, hug a pillow around your middle and walk anyway. It really does help!

I've been on purees for 6 days now and I've yet to truly "puree" anything...it might help to think of it as a mushy food stage, in a way. I've been continuing a Protein shake a day (most days), greek yogurt, sugar free pudding, refried Beans with Laughing Cow cheeses, ricotta bake, oatmeal (yuck), grits, and very soft scrambled eggs (make with milk). So far I haven't been bored and it is SO much better than liquids! No one says you have to puree meat if you don't want to.

    Shelly's Cheesy Cauliflower Casserole

    4 cups Cauliflower, steamed
    4 Tbs. Butter, divided use
    1/4 cup Flour
    1/2 tsp. Dry Mustard
    1 tsp. Salt
    1/4 tsp. Pepper
    3 cups Milk
3/4 pound Sharp Cheddar cheese (3 cups)
    1/4 cup bread Crumbs (optional)

Steam cauliflower set aside. Melt 3 tablespoons butter, blend in flour & seasonings. Add milk. Cook until thickened, stirring constantly. Stir in cheese; pour over steamed cauliflower and mix till combined. Top with optional crumbs mixed with remaining 1 tablespoons of butter. Bake at 375 for 30 minutes or until golden brown.

You can add cooked ground chicken, turkey or beef to this too. Throw your portion in the Mini Chopper food Processor and whiz away. You can add unflavored Protein too... mix it in milk like you would a shake so it's dissolved or you'll get clumps.
    Shelly's Ricotta Bake

    8 oz of Ricotta Cheese
    1/2 cup grated Parmesan
    1 large Egg, beaten
    1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning
    salt & pepper to taste
    1/2 cup Marinara Sauce
    1/2 cup shredded Mozzarella Cheese

Mix ricotta cheese, parmesan, beaten egg, seasonings together and place in a oven proof dish. Pour marinara on top and top with mozzarella cheese. Bake it in the oven @ 450 for about 20-25 minutes (best) or nuke it till hot and bubbly. I usually made it first in the oven and heated the leftovers in the microwave.

I absolutely love my "Bariatric Advantage Advanced Multi EA". Tastes like a candy Bracelet. And I love my Calcium Citrate chewables, they taste like tootie rolls.

I had my VSG on Feb 1st and don't want to swallow huge pills if I can help it. I have enough other things to swallow, like the probiotic. I mix in my liquid Trace Minerals with a large bottle of Water and can not taste it . =D

I'll exhaust you talking about vitamins! lol (I still need to learn to make my posts succinct. >.>)

sweetsavannah got a reaction from Amelie2016 in Three weeks out and can eat four ounces easily..normal?
I'm currently on purees and I can tell a difference depending on what type of food it is. I was able to eat a 5oz container of yogurt this morning, but more than 2-3 ounces of refried Beans is a much different story. Follow your doctor's advice and you'll be fine! I think it's normal to feel nervous about everything this early in the game (I'm the same way), but you will be fine!

    Refried Beans
    Cottage cheese
Soft scrambled eggs (mix with Water or milk and they are ok for pureed stage)
Mix all three above, add green chili and you've got a mini huevos rancheros...mmmm!
    Hummus
Mashed potatoes with added Protein Powder
Mashed avocados with garlic and cilantro
    Mashed cauliflower with melted cheese
Plain Greek yogurt flavored with Protein powder
broth, Cream Soups or any pureed Soup (without noodles or rice) with unflavored protein powder added....Split pea, butternut squash and French onion were my favorites
Pureed tuna fish with mayo (sounds gross but it's good)
    Deviled ham
    Ricotta bake (google it)
Still drank Protein Shakes through all stages to meet protein goals.

But that's my point, meat, cheese, tomatoes and veggie toppings ARE eating right. It's only the crust that makes pizza "wrong". Everyone raves about the ricotta bake, which is basically a cheese pizza sans crust. Add some pepperoni or sausage or Canadian bacon and you've just upped your Protein.< /p>

It's officially been 2 weeks since I had surgery and I get to start eating pureed foods tomorrow! I can't believe I made it an entire month without solid food -- woohoo!! I have been SO tempted to cheat numerous times, but I resisted. My mom has been a great accountability partner in encouraging me to stick to the plan and I'm so thankful for her!
Please spam me with all of your favorite mushy food ideas. I'm a bit nervous about what to try first...I'm thinking yogurt or pudding, so it won't be a huge difference from what I've been eating? My stomach can't handle sugar-free Jello since surgery, so I'm curious to see if these foods will work.

I'm closing out week 2 today and I am also losing slowly now, so I'm nervous about week 3! Week 1 was great - 10 lb loss, so I'm thinking that our bodies may get shocked by the surgery and then stall for a bit to play catch-up.
