Hair Loss :( What to do

I had super, super thin hair before surgery. Around month four started losing even more. Was really bad. My NUT told me about a powder collagen hydrosolate made by Great Lakes. It's the green can. Collagen is good for bones, hair and skin. I buy it on amazon. I take two tbsp twice daily. No taste at all. Only 50 calories per serving and has 11 grams of protein. (Not whey protein). You can add it to beverages or food. I started it about month four. Month 7 post op my hair was scary thin. Now, month eleven I have a lot of new growth. I don't think I will end up thicker, but will certainly get back what I lost. Also skin and nails are doing great. Lastly, I got light blonde highlights to camouflage the contrast of my dark him against my scalp.
  2. About 5 minutes after I eat, I get super gassy and sometimes need to use the bathroom. Only happens right after I eat. Anyone else?

    Protein Shake Questions

One drink I don't hear mentioned is Protein2O. Comes in lemon, berry and grape. 70 calories, 15 grams whey Protein. Takes like a fruit drink. I ah e two a day for 30 grams, then I will have either strawberry muscle milk or a Bariatric Advantage Protein Drink. In the Baritric brand I have Vanila (not so great, but I add PB2..dried Peanut Butter to improve taste,), orange...which tastes like an orange creams idle, and chocolate that tastes like a Wendy's chocolate Frosty when blended with ice. I have heard great things about isopure zero/carb. I ordered both strawberry powder and Dutch chocolate. I found them both to be disgusting!

    Issues with chewable vitamins

Omg!! So glad u posted this!! I sampled some of these EXACT Vitamins BEFORE my surgery. They were so yummy! After my surgery, when I took one it was the most AWFUL experience. The minute it touched my tongue, I felt like I was eating kerosine or something! My mouth instantly watered up, I was gagging, I became dizzy and had to lay down. Forced myself to swallow it and I was miserable for hours. I kept brushing my teeth , but kept tasting tat awful taste. I called my NUT and she said its that taste bud thing that can change after surgery. Ugh! Wasted money PLUS what to do for vitamins? She had me start taking Centrum Silver Chewable...two a day...once in morning, once in afternoon. It's been fine. I waited a few weeks and tried the vitamins again...same sick feeling. Very odd! Good luck!
  10. I stay away from daily. I weigh in every Monday. Makes me be extra careful over the weekend.

    Self Sabotage

Ok. Water counts as most liquids.....crystal light, etc. I found the most TASTY bottled drink called Protein2O. It comes in a variety of flavors, 70 calories for full bottle, 15 grams of protein! My NUT said it's great because it's whey Protein. I am five weeks post op. I eat three meals a day (2 TBSP protein, 2 TBSP veggie). In between those meals I drink protein. Usually one Protein shake (27 grams), and then throughout the day TWO of the protein2O drinks. My calorie average is 598 per day. NUT SAID I SHOULD NOT GO BELOW 500 NET calories, so I need to aim for higher calorie foods and NOT increase the quantity. Otherwise, after I exercise I am falling below 500 calories. Try a variety of foods, not just nuts and shakes. Try the Protein 2 O!
  12. I am scheduled for July 14, 2015. Very excited, not really nervous at all. Had great online class with dietician regarding post op diet and two months out from surgery. Very detailed information which answered all my questions. Since I get tired of measuring, I ordered from Amazon a 2 cup glass drinking tumbler that has graduated increments on the glass itself. I also ordered a bariatric Protein recipe book that had a lot of 5 star ratings. Lastly, I ordered some plastic lidded containers that hold 2.5 ounces. I will use those as serving dishes so I again will not have to measure each and every item. I am fortunate that I am not employed during the summer months, so I have until fall to figure all this out.
