If your still looking, I would recommend Dr. Anthony Terracina in Newport News VA. I could go on for hours telling you how awesome he and his staff are or tell you he has done 1000+ gastric sleeve surgeries alone not to mention all the other optiins, but the best way for you to see is to make an appointment for a seminar and just go. You will see that the 45 drive will be the best time you have ever spent on you! I am almost 9 months post op and am speaking from my personal experience and those of every single other patient I have ever encountered at his practice. Good luck to you.

Question…… . I am 6 months out and started going to the gym 5 days a week at 5 months. Since then I feel like I am always hungry. I also find myself wanting an occasional sweet. What's going on here, any ideas? Also is there a way I can shock my mind back to the restrictions that I so religiously followed before. My weight loss is good I started at 214-216 and am down to 160, but I don't want to make poor choices this early in.

I like the "if you loose any more weight your going to wither away". What the heck does that mean, really. I still weigh almost 170 lbs, what are they trying to prove or is it that maybe they just didn't realize how much I weighed before surgery. Either way , I just say, "yeah right"

Checking in too! I was sleeved on 9/10. I am feeling great and loosing weight albeit a little slow compared to others. (I know, I know, dont compare, but it's hard) I was 216 now I am 169. I have so much more energy now, but I am not sleeping well now for some reason. I have an average of 17 restless periods of up to 23 min. A night according to my fitbit. Anyone else having trouble with restless sleep?

This is exactly what I told every single person who told me that they were surprised that I was approved for surgery or that I was overweight but not obese. I gave them my statistics and told them to look it up themselves. I am 5'2 and weighed 216 lbs on day of surgery. Obese is obese, you don't have to be 150 lbs overweight to be obese!According to your BMI, you're obese. You're also over 40, and believe me, that's not a good combination. It was only after I hit about 45 is when my weight issues started really affecting my health. It really has a way of catching up to you. Nip it in the bud now.
Only in this day and age is being 5'2 and 215 not a "huge issue". We are so used to seeing so many obese people, we've lost perspective. I used to say the same thing at 5'5" and 235 with a BMI of 39. There was no getting around it, I was fat and unhealthy. Just like being pregnant, there's no such thing as being "a little obese".
Tell your friends that.

I love that you gave us the breakdown of your weightloss. I have often wondered what the typical progression looked like.
Exactly. We don't have WLS to lose weight fast. We have it so we can lose it and keep it off. I only lost more than 10 pounds for 2 months. I just posted this in another thread. Doesn't make me any less successful!I'm sorry but if you want to loose only 10lbs a month why are you considering surgery?
I have lost 86lbs in just over 4 months but I am eating well, certainly not undernourished and have 12 lbs to goal. Maybe if we eat well, the body will just stop at its natural weight.
When I was thinking about it today (funny you should do this post!) I pondered about reducing my goal weight. Now I have said that I will probably stall for the next few months lol
i don't want to lose more than10 lbs a month, I don't want to look sick, and besides my goal weight is about 70 lbs total to loose.
Uh ... ten pounds weight loss a month is not untypical of "lighter weight" WLS patients. Several months pre-op I weighed 235 pounds. On the day of surgery I weighed 216 pounds and lost around 10 pounds a month the first 4 months. Then the monthly weight losses slowed down.
Still, I still hit my target weight of 150 at 8.5 months post-op.
In the next 6 months I lost 12 more pounds.
I'm now maintaining at 138 pounds.
Month 1: -17
Month 2: -10
Month 3: -9
Month 4: -8
Month 5: -5
Month 6: -5
Month 7: -2
Month 8: -7
Month 9: -7
Month 10: -3
Month 11: -5
Month 12: -7
=85 pounds and goal of 150
Month 13: -3
Month 14: -5
Month 15: -0

I have been so busy with life I have just forgotten about all you great guys! On April 10th I was 19 months post op. My current weight is 135 and I feel absolutely great can say that I have not spent one single second regretting my decision to have the sleeve and would do it all over again if I had to.
