@@beingfree .....aren't you right out of surgery....like you had it yesterday? Or was that someone else i am confusing you with?

Thank you for the support! I know its my body and my life. I shouldn't let other people hurt my feelings. I just wish they did a little thinking before they commented! Congrats on meeitng your goal @@wantingabetterlife

Wow! Amazing! I mean seriously what's 2 lbs? I was told at the beginning of this process not to gain any weight. I have to be 242 or less and I have gained to a whopping 257. So looks like I will have a stuggle there at the end. I am praying that I can get it together before hand. Did you do anything in particular to lose weight in the end? What was the reason you had to be 270?

I have had so many people that say you dont need surgery. Or even people that say you're taking the easy way out. UMMM by reading what I have read so far about this surgery...it is not the easy way out! I wish people realized what all I will have to go thru. And I absolutely need this surgery, if not for my health, for my sanity. I cannot stand the person I have become. Cant find anything to wear, my closet full of cute clothes dont fit, I have gained 50 lbs in 10 months, cant bend down to shave my legs for crying out loud, dont want to have sex with hubby of 20 years, I cut my hair off because I am too lazy to fix it, out of breath, dont want to go to parties or summer events involving bathing suit.....the NEED for surgery is crutial to my mental well being. I feel so excited about my surgery and I want to shout it to the roof tops. Then when I do I get this reaction. What a bummer! People are so mean some times.

Conrats beingfree! I am so excited for you. My surgery is in November. Couple more days and you will be starting your pre-op diet. After that no food for a while. Enjoy your last days of freedom.

Thanks for having this a topic. I didnt realize how usefull this info may be one day until after I read it.

I am glad this subject was brought up. I am a huge coffee lover. I think in moderation it might be ok. But I will definitely consult my doctor and nut. on this subject. I cannot imagine my life without coffee. I am hoping since I have no acid reflux that I will be able to tolerate it. Thanks for the suggestions.

I am also scheduled in November. I plan to take 3 weeks off. Give or take a day or 2 if needed. I have plenty of time available and will also use FMLA. I want to make sure I am well adjusted and not sleepy or weak. Nothing is worse than trying to put on a happy face in front of customers when you dont feel well. Plus I have never taken any time off so my work is ok with me being gone.

WOW! That's great! I am so excited for you. I cannot believe they gave you the run around. I hope that doesn't happen to me too. I am going to do my best to get everything done they are requesting. So when is your surgery?

I am a newbie too. I have my esophogram and first pre-op class this Friday 7-17-15. I am nervous about the esophogram too. I am also really close to bmi minimum so I have to be careful not to lose weight during the process or I won't qualify but I have Aetna and they don't want me to gain any weight either. Good luck on your test. Let me know how it goes.
-
I have Aetna too. I am just starting the process. But I was told not to gain any weight from start to finish. And I was told it takes 2-4 weeks for approval. Good luck. I am rooting for you. And so is the doctors office.

I say go for it! And sounds like most people are saying the same thing. Let us know what you decide or how the vacation went.
-
Congrats! I am so excited for you. Please keep us updated. Let me know how you are doing. My surgery isnt until November.

Me too! I am so excited. I have a cousin who had the procedure last year. So I've been asking lots of questions. What are you most nervous about? Me...the pain afterwards. And losing my hair.< /p>

My straw was Employee Appreciation week at work. We bought donuts for everyone and I had been on a diet, well as usual I gave in and had a few donuts and afterwards was the usual disgusted self. Tired of dieting I said let me give this another try. Previously my husband had lap band and I did not qualify for anything but since I have gained 10 lbs so I thought maybe I will qualify this time. Started my research, went to first seminar. Just had my first drs appt last Friday 6-8-15. So I am at the beginning of my journey.

I'm new to the site. And I am new to bariatrics. Just had first appt so I have a long road ahead of me.
Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.
So tired of people saying you dont need surgery!
