Tomorrow is 7 months since surgery as of today I am 118 lbs and realizing I am 34 lbs away from my goal weight is overwhelming honestly my starting BMI was 50 my current BMI is 30 I am so close to the "normal" BMI range no more "morbis obese" on my medical papers no more "obese" on my medical papers it says "over weight" and that too will change soon I havent been to the gym for 2 weeks with work being so hectic so I cant imagin my results once i get back into my routine this journey is amazing and emotional all at once :) its been one hell of a ride

Jane thank you- you will get there I was so darn anxious to get there for what reason I don't know because I am now just as anxious to get these last 34 lbs off its just so surreal to be over 300 lbs at 27 and feel so hopeless was the worst feeling ever

@Michaelene I am almost twice your age and I get surreal feeling of being over 300. I hit 282 last year and freaked out. Its a lot harder to lose as you age. The WLS has been a tremendous blessing. Now if I could get the darn carbs out of my diet :(

  11. I am having a really hard time seeing myself in this new body, and what I mean by that is I do not think I look that different and I think I still look terrible in a way I think its my mind playing tricks on me to keep me working hard toward my ultimate goal then part of me thinks it the whole ive been fat my entore life so im just not accepting that this is really happening to me I constantly make side by sides and pick my body apart my arms being my biggest target for my mean comments about myself I was 310 ia m now 224 and I still fee like I am 310 lbs when does it kick in that youve actually lost the weight?

It kicks in, but you have to work on it. Therapy with a psychologist who understands body-image issues is good. There are also books on the subject, most geared to WLS people who are unable to make the mental/emotional/visual adjustments. No way are you alone in the way you feel.

    4. Djmohr

I still have trouble with this. It takes time. I started out at 310 and have lost 130 lbs with only 15 to go. Sometimes when I walk past the mirror I am shocked and other times when I am trying to hide all my loose skin, then I still feel fat. Like you I have very large arms and all the weight has not come off of them, I will need surgery to get rid of that feeling.

  12. 220'S FINALLY!!! I felt like it was never going to happen lol 29 more lbs until ONEderland!!!!

  13. really not a happy camper this week has been terrible I am at yet another stall and its driving me MAAAADDD I am 2 pounds away from welcoming my 220's and that damn scle wont budge. now I have not made it to the gym like I usually do to many personal issues going on at once so that could have to do with it but this still does not save me from going looney!!!!

Stalls are inevitable. Stay the course, track your food, water, carbs, calories, etc. Check for NSVs...are clothes fitting better? Your body has to stabilize at times and you may even gain a couple of pounds. just monitor it and work your plan!

    3. Michaelene

      Michaelene

clothes are fitting much more loose I am tracking like a crazy person lol but thats all the time nothing new....maybe my body just needed a break not sure but I hope it changes soon :(

  20. How did everyone feel the first few days after surgery? I know everyone is different but I am interested to hear what everyones experiences were. I have wanted this so badly for so long and to hear I am approved and get a surgery date within 2 weeks is making me feel so many different emotions at once. I am mainly concerned because although i am married hes not much of a help to me everyone is offering to help me with my kids they are 4 and 1 but sometimes not everyone comes through on that promise ya know so I am just wanting an idea of what to look forward to.
  21. I am going to my 4 week post op appointment toda (I am actally 5 weeks) I am down 36 lbs and feeling great. although there are days when I get depressed thinking I am not losing enough and I still look so fat but those days I get up and go distract myself and AVOID mirrors at all cost lol. But over all I FEEL AMAMZING I am 14 lbs away fom my frist 50 lbs lost which is HUGE....I am for the first time super excited for my future

I feel like I am not losing as fast as others too at times. I also know that I choose to eat a few more calories because of my job. As long as I am losing - I'm good. I JUST hit my -50 goal and that's -66 from HW. My surgery was 5/6. Clothes are fitting that I haven't worn since 2005-2007 so I really cant complain. The mirror always reflects the heavier me no matter what I weigh. It sucks but I feel amazing too, so I figure that is what it is really all about, right?

    4. Michaelene

      Michaelene

Your right Jane! feeling better really is a reward all by itself :) and congrats on 50 lost thats fantastic!!!
