Hello all,
My story is not the typical weight loss story. I have never had to think about my weight until about 6 years ago. I have suffered with severe depression for the last 20 years. 6 years ago my Dr changed my medication to some horrible ones that made me pack on the weight! I was mortified! For me, 50-60 pounds was like 200 pounds. What I did not realize at the time was it was the medication that was causing the weight gain. After years of this horrible medicine making me feel pretty good, I realized I was now fat and depressed too! The only thing was when I stopped the meds I would sink into a horrible funk. So, what could I do? My Dr at the time told me "deal with it" I finally realized that there had to be something out there that was better for me with less side effects. So I changed doctors, got on new meds, cleared my head and got real with myself. I had lost and gained back 250 pounds over those last 6 years and was frustrated and pissed. I started to research WLS. A friend had it done 2 years previous and had great success, and lost over 100 pounds. I was thrilled for her. I just didn't think anyone would take me seriously with 50-60 pounds to loose. But they did! I was thrilled! So my journey begins. I am excited to re-start my life. Excited to be excited again. I have been held up in my house for way to long ashamed of my appearance. People who know me have said, "you let your self go, you use to be so tiny". Yes, its been said. by my so called "friends" So, July 16th is my surgery date and the 1st day of the rest of my life!
