  1. Best of luck to you both! Can't wait to hear how it goes ... see you on the losers bench!
  2. Babbs ... I love your posts every day!
  3. I'm in the same boat as you! Almost 4 months post-op & hit a stall the last week. I am close to onederland as well & nearing my hundred pound loss. {Sigh} Bumping up my fluids, tracking protein like crazy, and walking every day. Here's to hoping we both see a boost soon!!!
  4. First appt after referral to Bariatric was in Oct 2014. Surgery was May 2015. Once appointments were all done it was only 3 weeks to get insurance approval & surgery done.
  5. Wasnt on insulin, just 3000mg metformin. Oral meds were stopped 2 days pre-op & havent taken anything since. Glucose was 99 two hours post-op. I would wait to see what your endo says.
  6. I still get hiccups every time I eat. Usually only one or two & not so powerful that they hurt, but it is mildly annoying. My NUT & surgeon both says it is normal though, so I deal with it.
  7. Good luck! Today is the start of the rest of your life ... embrace it. See you on the losers bench!
  8. Woohoo! Happy Surgiversary! I totally look up to people like you & hope for the day that I make it there.
  9. I had little energy & lots of pain (previous injury) before surgery. I was also saddled with several co-morbidities that only added to my lack of energy. The first 2-3 weeks after surgery I tired easily & would nap after busy days. But by week 4 I started to notice an increase. I am now 3 1/2 months post-op. I recently walked my first 5K & finished in 49.16 minutes. I walk 3-5 miles a day. My want to do things has increased tremendously and my pain is almost non-existent. Best. Decision. EVER!
  10. WLS & the change in stomach acid can cause ulcers during recovery. I was on something else for a hiatal hernia (which I didn't really have) but my surgeon put me on prilosec for 3mos following surgery & explained that it works better than the other medication & why it is needed.
  11. 2 weeks... it was hell! But sooooo worth it in the end.
  12. My father just had a surgical proceedure that required general anesthesia & the anesthesiologist had to adjust what was used & how much due to his severe apnea. This is the only reason I can think of for it. I wasn't required to have one though, so not really 100% sure as to the reasons. I'd be interested in knowing why if anyone ever gets a definitive answer.
  13. My son realized the same thing when he was pushing his daughter's stroller. Now when he know he is going to be pushing he puts his around his ankle!
  14. Hoping it isnt something major! But like Babbs said a call to the doctor is needed. Good luck!!
  15. Welcome to the losers club!! Sounds like you are off to a good start. Make sure you keep moving & let us know how you are doing.
  16. Whatever works for you! I only weighed at dr appts for the first 6 weeks. After that, I only weigh once a week.
  17. Thanks! Gonna try this.
  18. I can't drink anything milk-based, so I use Nectar fruit flavored ones. I can get them in individual packets & have a variety of flavors. I also use the Nectar unflavored to add to things like yogurt. You can probably find them near you, but nashuanutrition.com has them.
  19. Are you on any kind of BP meds? Sounds like what happened to me when my BP was low. I would check with you Doc to be sure.
  20. I don't see why not. I was only out of my classroom 2 weeks. I felt great, no complications, no pain meds, no major fatigue. However, also worked with my Admin to have strategies in place in case I needed them. Worked very well for me! Good luck!
  21. All of mine can be ordered online at nashuanutrition.com
  22. I would't worry too much. All my pre-op blood work showed high sugar levels. I am diabetic with high glucose levels and that is the primary reason for my sleeve. I came out of surgery and 2 hours later my sugar was in the normal range. It has not gone higher than 120 since my surgery. That said, I wouldn't necessarily take medical advice from strangers on here. When in doubt, call your surgeon and ask.
  23. I was told after my endoscopy that I had one. Then after my upper GI was told I did not have one. Surgeon found a small one when doing my sleeve and fixed it. He told me it was not uncommon to do the fix during surgery.
  24. LOVE mine!!!! I have a Zip, and have been using it for just over a year. Several family members also have them & as a way to help me stay motivated we have "competitions" each week/weekend. It makes me look at my steps often throughout the day and always try to push that little bit more. Last night I was 28 steps shy of my 10,000 for the day, so I did laps around our bedroom until I hit my goal! It really is worth it, especially considering I have the "cheap" one that doesn't have any of the bells and whistles on it.
  25. I am a middle school teacher in an inner-city school.
