  1. I am only 4 months post-op!! Can you imagine what will happen a year out?!?!?
  2. So the other night I was pulled over by a very nice (and good looking) police officer. Apparently I had a tail light out. He did his duty & asked for my license and registration. He looked at my license, then at me, then at my license, then at me. I told him I had lost some weight since my photo was last taken 4 years ago. His response "A little!" Haha! I loved it!! Needless to say, he recommended that I get a new photo taken & because it came from an officer I didn't have to pay for it. Nice NSV when I dont even look like myself anymore!
  3. I'm in!!! Need all the motivation I can get ... CW - 215 GW - 199 ... I *WILL* hit Onederland!
  4. Couldn't have said it better than Sleevenv!! The scale will shift & you will settle in. I am 4mos post-op & have hit this same problem a couple times. I just kept on doing what I was supposed to & in a couple days the scale tipped the other way. Good luck!
  5. Welcome Cathryn! Your story is very touching & I can relate to in home care as I did that for my grandmother for some time before she passed 4 years ago. As for your VSG & your own health, I am diabetic (now controlled) and that was the primary reason for my sleeve. My father is diabetic, and his mother before him. He is insulin dependent & takes 3 shots each day. I was terrified of having to do that & unfortunately that is the direction I was headed. 2 hours after my surgery my glucose tested at 99 and has been normal ever since. It has been almost 4 months and I do not regret a thing!!! I applaud your bravery & taking charge of your life. Best of luck & I can't wait to hear more of your journey!
  6. "Restriction" for me at this point felt more like pressure in my chest. I felt like I couldn't take a deep breath.
  7. Congrats on reaching onderland!!!
  8. I second the nectar drinks! I like the iced tea & lemonade the best. But they have tons of different flavors to choose from. It is one of the only brands I could tolerate right after surgery. I get mine from Nashuanutrition.com & also buy individual sample packets so I can try a flavor first.
  9. Almost 4 mos post-op & it hasn't kicked in for me (yet). Hope it never does! Curious to see what others say too.
  10. I had horrible gas days 2-5 post op. I used maximum strength Gas X strips & it helped sooo much! Lots and lots of walking to move the gas too. But the Gas X definitely made it easier to get through.
  11. Same as what laguerr13 said ... walking & GasX strips helped. Mine went away within a week post-op. Still happens now & then with things I eat but the GasX helps.
  12. I did the 2 weeks liquid before, for the same reason Court3625 mentioned above. Relative of mine who went through a different surgeon & different program only had liquids the day before. Don't know if it is related to this or not, but my surgery was less time than hers & my recovery time was much less than hers.
  13. I am no longer in need of all these clothes! (Yay me!!) Would rather give them to someone in need than Goodwill making money off them. Anyone in my area want to take them off my hands???
  14. Don't know anything about breaking a stall with G2. However my NUT & Doc don't want me drinking G2 because it has sugar in it. I do Powerade Zero when I need an electrolyte boost.
  15. Thanks all. This morning is only slightly better. Every sip is a fight to go down, but I am trying to push the protein drinks to get both fluids & protein into me. I didn't sleep well either so I know that is not helping. I know in my head what I should be doing, but I really needed to hear it from someone else.
  16. Please do not view yourself as a failure! You need to remember that your body is adjusting to a major surgery & alteration. You will most likely continue to lose, but not every day & every week week be at the same rate. As for what the surgeons say ... every person is different. You can only use the data as a guideline, not a statement of fact. The other thing I would check on is your caloric intake. If you don't have enough calories coming in your body will go into starvation mode & start storing for later. That said, I have had ups & downs with the rate of loss. I try to focus on Non-scale Victories to help me get over these hurdles. Are your clothes getting loose? Do you feel more energy? Best of luck & keep your chin up!
  17. Unfortunately our family was thrown into the midst of an emergency last night. The nerves & anxiety is wreaking havoc on my system. I cannot eat without everything coming back up or getting stuck, and drinking is very slow going today too. I have only managed to get about 25g of Protein (if it stayed down) and close to 40oz of Fluid. I am kind of afraid of dehydration. I am 3 1/2 months post-op & haven't had any side effects until now. I know it is a result of what is going on, but not sure it will be resolved in the next few days. Anyone with similar situations? Do you recommend I keep pushing the fluids over foods?
  18. Sleeved on 5/11. Total loss as of last week is 84 pounds and have from a 26/28 to a 14/16.
  19. I am 3 1/2 months out & still have a hard time with fruits & veggies. I have very minimal restrictions, but cant seem to eat much after I eat my protein! Now I take a supplement instead & know I am getting my servings in.
  20. I am only 3 1/2 mos post-op. I eat out about once a week due to travel. I usually order soup if I can ... even if all i eat is the broth. It is less expensive than a full meal & quite filling.
  21. The first two weeks were the worst for me, but then my energy started to return & I have felt great since then. Take it easy and do what you can without pushing too hard. You'll start feeling better soon!
  22. I use Nectar unflavored medical grade. Not much protein per scoop, but i can't taste it & I add it to a lot of foods/drinks.
  23. You have to be on a computer & authorize the Myfitnesspal app. It will then synch all your info to the app.
  24. I second that! 3 1/2 months out & I still take my prilosec every other day.
