Work biggest loser challenge
Similar contest at my school right now. I skipped it, and glad I did! Heard several people commented that they wouldn't participate with me (they knew about my WLS) or that I am a cheater if I do it, and that I took the easy way out ... blah blah blah. Had no intention of getting into it, but was kind of hurt by the comments behind my back. Not worth the frustration IMO.

Wedding bands?
I bought a $2.99 box of ring snuggies at wally world. I wear one on my engagement ring, which holds my wedding ring in place. Once I hit goal I will have them re-sized, but this is a good temporay hold-over.

Illness post-op
I am just about 5 months post-op, and lucky me, I have both strep throat AND a sinus infection. Ugh! Doc put me on antibiotics but I must cannot drink or eat much. Suggestions to keep from dehydrating???

Protein help!
Like @@JosieAppleHead I can only do the Syntax Nectar, but the fruit flavored ones. They are mixed with water (I am lactose intolerant) and I put them over ice so they are super cold.

Your First Non-Family/Friend Compliment
I am a teacher & had my wls just before summer break. Every day I stop for a coffee on the way to work & the girl always gets it ready when she sees me coming. Well, wasn't there all summer & went in the first week of school but she didn't have my coffee. So I ordered it ... it is a bit unusual ... her head snaps up and she says "whoa! I didn't know it was you. You got SKINNY!" Told her about my wls & she said "girl, whatever it is, keep doing it! " Think I smiled that whole day!!!

Southern NH/Northern Mass - women's sizes 22 to 28
I will look & see what I still have. Can you wear jeans to work. Might have a few pairs of those. I will PM you after the weekend when I can go through what I have here.

When did you buy new clothes?
When?? When my clothes started falling off!!! I used belts, rubber bands around the belt loops & button, even safety pins.... whatever it took. I finally went to Goodwill when we were going on vacation & none of my pants stayed up. I bought a few staples (black capris, gray pants) and then got maxi skirts. I have found that the skirts can be folded over at the side seam & pulled in for quite a while before it is noticeable ... then I had someone take them in & I am still wearing them. I have lost 91 lbs. in about 8 months (5 months are post-op) and have gone from a size 26/28 to a 16, but I have spent only about $100 total on clothes since surgery. I get creative, but I also know when something is just too big it is time to bite the bullet and buy something. Keep going back to the consignment shops every week or so ... I usually find one or two things that work. Good luck!

I need help
I was back to work in 2 weeks, and could have gone back after 1. If it were me, knowing what I do now, I would still keep the Oct 1 date & take it easy before the cruise. Enjoy & congrats!

Back to work
I am a middle school teacher. I was back in my classroom 2 weeks after surgery. Probably could have done it after one, but already had the substitute & would have been more trouble to undo the paperwork.

Recent May sleevers-How are you?
I am a May 11th sleever and to date I have lost 91lbs. 11 of that was pre-op, but still losing pretty steadily. Sorry to hear about your experience. If you are concerned, I would seek out another surgeon to follow up with.

Contraception / weight gain
I am on Depo too and have never had weight gain from it. I dont have a TOM either, but caution you that several people I know had a hard time getting pregnant after being on it. Was told that if you plan to have children then the implant is a better choice.

Sciatica and Weight Loss
In 2011 I suffered 2 work injuries to my back just one week apart from each other. As a result I have an annular tear at L5/S1 with minor bulging at L3 & L4 as well. In 2012 I participated in a Functional Restoration Program ... in essence a 3 week intensive rehab program to regain the use of the muscles in my back. Although the program did an amazing job, I still suffered from radiating pain into my hip & down my left leg. Occasionally I also have numbness/neuropathy in the lower leg & foot. I have done all the exercises & stretches I was given and only had limited range of motion. I was sleeved in May 2015 and to date I have lost 87.5 lbs. In June I started to notice a marked improvement in my pain, especially at night. Since surgery I have only had 2 episodes of numbness and only a handfull of times that I have had to take my pain medications. I am now able to walk for over an hour, where before I could only manage 10 minutes at most. I just completed my first 5K & am walking my 2nd one on Sunday. I dont know if WLS was fully responsible for the improvements, however I will never balk at my increased mobility & decrease in pain! Ine thing I learned in rehab is that there is a difference between "pain" and "pain that causes more injury". Do as much walking as you can ... I firmly believe that has been the biggest help in reducing the inflammation that causes my pain. Best of luck!
