  1. I just had surgery June 30th. It was the BEST decision I have ever made in my life! You have to do what's best for YOU and to become healthier so you will be around for your daughter and husband! This is not your mother in laws decision. This is YOURS! Not everyone will support you. I had to come to terms with that. But you have to get passed that! Besides....as long as your spouse supports you....that's what matters. Personally, I would advise anyone who's had weight problems to have the surgery! But it's a decision that only you can make. Don't let others make you question yourself when you know the decision you're making for yourself is the best one. Good luck to you!
  2. I have found EVERYTHINGbis too sweet. Taste buds changed b
  3. GENERL QUESTION: I'm getting tired of everything chocolate.....but scared to try other things that has high protein. I'm only 29 days out from surgery and need to get my protein in. Can anyone/everyone please tell me some things you do to at least get 40 grams of protein in???? Thank you all in advance!

Do you mean something other than protein shakes ? Im not sure where you are food wise, are you on mushies or solids ?

I stick with vanilla shakes and add sugar free syrups to change it up a bit.

my routine has been shake (premier protein) in the morning, chicken/salmon/scallops for lunch (one of those), teriyaki turkey jerky snack, and then whatever protein I make for dinner. I don't eat any sides right now, as getting water and protein are most important. For treats I have fudgecicles or SF popcicles. May sound boring to some, but I am thrilled with the results!

  4. FYI!! I know this has more than likely been discussed but I haven't seen it! I have been wanting something fruity to drink so I went to the sonic becasue I knew they had slushes made with Splenda. Well I orderd a DIET CHERRY SLUSH.....don't be fooled by the word DIET! The car hop informed me that the flavored syrup was sugar free but the slush mix (the clear mix they make all the slushes with) IS NOT SUGAR FREE!! Needless to say, I sent it back!! I feel deceived!! I have drank them before surgery before and that is why I knew they had them, but I had NEVER been told that they are really NOT surgar free!! Just letting y'all know!! :))

      wow. that is great,

  6. You look amazing!! My mom has been on my weight my whole life. I'm only 23 days out from surgery so I'm not at that place yet where people tell me that!
  7. That's so awesome!! The only advice I can give you is make sure you're getting in your protein if you're not drinking shakes. Your hair will begin thinning out. The best I have found that taste like chocolate milk is Monster Muscle Milk. Not only does it have protein but also gives me energy!! Good luck and keep reaching for your goals!!
  8. Yeah first 3 days are clear liquids. Then 4th-14th day is full liquids. Then 15th day start soft foods. I imagine you do feel bloated. Your tummy is not ready for what you're putting in it. I can only do 3oz of anything at a time and I'm 17 days out. I just started soft foods this week. Take care and don't over do it.

    4 days out

At 4 days out you're more than likely still expelling the gas from the surgery. I noticed I burp less (I'm 12 days out) but I now get the hiccups really easily and that's not fun at all. And I'm not sure why I do.
  10. I am feeling the best I have felt in 15 years!! I'm only 9 days post op and I have lost 18lbs already! This surgery saved my life!

I love hearing this! WLS is a life saving surgery and although there is some pain involved it literally can give you your life back! Congratulations and I am really very happy for you! Keep up the positive attitude, it really does make recovery easier to deal with.

  11. Hey my sleeved friends! I'm 4 days post op, 11 lbs down, and feeling really great. Today I start on full liquids and so excited, however I have not felt hungry at all. I have to make myself stay on schedule and take in what I need. This was the best decision of my life!

Congrats to both of you. Please continue to post your progress as it really helps people like me who are still waiting for their surgery date. Did either of you have any trouble with drinking water or protein drinks after your surgery?

  12. 2 more days until surgery! I'm excited, nervous, impatient, joyful, scared, thankful, blessed, giddy.....I have so many emotions going on all at one time. I'm like a kid the night before Christmas EVE!! I'm ready to get today done and go to sleep so tomorrow can be Monday!! There's lots to do the day before surgery so Monday will go by quickly...I hope!! Did I tell you how excited I am?? Lol

Good luck Belle!!! Just remember after surgery you need to be patient with your body...I am 3 weeks out and I am still on very soft foods and sometimes my new stomach tells me its not ready to have it. It takes a long time to adjust. I am very glad I did it, but it has been difficult too....

I wish you the best of luck with your surgery! I am sure you will do fantastic. See you on the other side! I also was like you, way more excited than scared. It is something to be excited about for sure.

  13. Y'all its 7 days until surgery and tomorrow is my prop. I've been sick since Saturday with like a virus including fever. Major stomach pain. So much so I went to the dr yesterday. I'm just praying this doesn't have any affect on surgery. I'm so worried. Anyone experience this right before surgery?
  14. I'm so excited! I just signed back up for Tae Kwon Do to start at the end of August once I'm released after my 8 weeks post surgery. It's something that I have always wanted to go back to and could never see doing again! My surgery is scheduled for June 30th and I already feel as though I have a new lease on life!! It's so freeing!
