  1. I haven't seen the show, but am familiar with some of the others such as My 600 lb life, Obese and Pregnant, and some others on TLC. I look at pictures of myself at almost 300 pounds and say, "how did I get there". I, too, have PCOS and I can't blame it for all the gain, but it never made things easy. Poor food choices, not caring about my health, being lazy. People now ask how I stay committed to everything. It is simple...I don't want to die. I was MORBIDLY obese for the better part of 15 years. I was so fat that it could KILL me. I have had 3 family members die before the age of 50. I just had my baby at the age of 38. I want to be a good example for her. Working out is work for me, but I go. Good luck in your journey!

  2. I gained 5 pounds the first week after surgery. I then lost for a few weeks and then stalled for THREE WEEKS! This is pretty much how it has been for me. I started at 294 was 260 on surgery day and now at 139 in nine months. My hubby was losing 3 and 4 pounds a day for awhile. I have learned that I cannot compare myself with anyone because it is YOUR journey. Everyone's body and ability are different.

  3. I will tell you from experience that skirts are just easier than pants while you are rapidly losing weight. I was changing pant sizes every 2-3 weeks for awhile. Skirts just "last" longer. Dresses too probably. I wore ALOT of a line skirts and cardigans or sweaters for the longest. I am now buying pants again. I didn't do the subscription although it probably would have been cheaper now that I think about it.

  4. Called our insurance company. At the time we had BC/BS. However, we live in Alabama and the insurance was from Maryland, but my husband's company was in Virginia. Anyway, after being told one thing and then getting confirmation that we did NOT have to do the 6 month supervised diet, it was fairly straightforward. We had to be 100 pounds overweight and do a psych evaluation. Those were our only two criteria. The first person that answers the phone usually doesn't have the in depth knowledge you need. You have to be persistent. Surgeon submitted paperwork on a Friday, and got approval a week later.

  5. I met my hubby on eHarmony in 2011. We were not within a 100 miles though. I lived in Atlanta, GA and he lived in Huntsville, AL. It's 4 hour drive. Anyway, we were matched on 9.22.11 and were married on 9.22.12. It's not the most convenient when they live far away, but it was worth it for me. I only ever got scum from POF, Match, and okcupid. I even tried Christian singles.com and didn't get anyone good.

  6. I am nine months out from surgery and below goal weight. I started out logging using My Fitness Pal. My husband uses Lose it!. I personally think My Fitness Pal is better. I actually had to stop logging a couple months ago. I was not eating enough when I logged so my weight loss SLOWED down. My surgeon told me to eat 1200 to 1400 calories a day. I was only eating about 650 to 700. The high numbers scared me and I didn't want to eat that much. I had to stop because it was a mind struggle. I still portion out my food about a half cup of solids at a time or a cup of Soup. Most days I am getting somewhere between 800 and 1200 calories. I definitely read labels though. It does not go into my cart if it is bad.

  7. I am FINALLY in the normal range for my height, but just barely. It goes from 118 to 145 for me. (I am 5'4"). Anyway, I personally think the BMI chart is outdated. I think you should have the scan done that measures fat and muscle. My husband is going through the same issues. He is 188 but BMI chart says 175 is what he should weigh to be considered normal. He is freaking skin and bone now! I can literally count his ribs! If you feel good, then you are good!

  8. I have PCOS too. Had my baby 6 weeks before I was sleeved. I went on Ortho Tri Clyclen. I hadn't been on birth control since I was 23. (Now 38). I was scared of the mirena. I want another baby and had heard too many horror stories. I also wanted something to balance out my hormones. The reason it took me so long to get pregnant was due to way too much estrogen. I also wanted a cycle every month to help reduce my risk of cancer. I will be on birth control until the end of the year when it is safe to start trying. I've been on it for about 7 months now and so complaints. I love being regular and I already have to take pills every day (vitamins) so it is easy to remember.
