  2. Guys, I have been coming here since I was sleeved in May 0f this year (2015). Lately when I have reached out for help, advice or with questions I have basically gotten the attitude of "best wishes..." I am not here for well wishes, I am here fr support, help and feedback. I am so frustrated that this will be my last post if no one reaches back. Things are dire. I was sleeved as I stated in May of 2015, I have had the usual trial and error and a lot of bumps. I just had my gallbladder out 2 days ago and then yesterday my Aunt passed unexpectedly. She was the last connection that I had to my mother that I lost way too soon in my younger years. I have awful reflux and am having an endoscopy on 10/18. I am dealing with a gut on fire, post op pain and extreme greif. I don't know what to do with myself. I cant go to the gym, I can't binge eat and I can't drink. I have had friends over and gotten out of the house and gone for a car ride. No ease in my pain and suffering. I have written in my journal, meditated, knitted and had people over, Someone PLEASE HELP ME. What am I missing? I am having so much trouble coping, and what does anyone recommend what to try next?
  3. Hi All! I was sleeved 5/21/15 and have had a lot of success and a few set backs. One of those set backs; or as my surgeon put it, a "rite of passage" for doing so well so fast is that I had my gallbladder out yesterday. My struggle now is what CAN I eat? I have not been able to eat wheat or gluten for a long tie, post sleeve I can not tolerate grains. I don't eat anything fried but I do enjoy turkey sausage. I eat a fair amount of chicken breast and salmon. I have substituted ground turkey for hamburger and turkey and chicken sausage for pork and have given up bacon. I eat mostly paleo so peanuts and Beans are a no no. I am not a fan of eggs and don't do dairy. Protein shakes are not filling and they constipate me. Now with having my gallbladder out I have to eat non or low fat. Turkey sausage is 10% fat is that still OK to eat? I know that I can not have oils or butter. Salmon has Omega 3 fatty oils, is that still OK to eat? I would seriously become vegan if I thought I could get enough protein to support the gastric sleeve. What about nuts other than peanuts; more specifically cashews and almonds? I can not tolerate soy and sugar is absolutely out of the question as it makes me so ill. Can anyone relate? Can anyone advise? Can anyone help? Thanks so much
  4. I was sleeved on May 21,2015 and I have lost 80# so far. I have an amazing group of friends, family and colleges; my husband has been amazing throughout the entire journey, I have increased energy, I am down from a size 30/32 to a size 18/20, after YEARS of being a gym rat I am finally able to see the results. Learning what I can and can't eat has been a great exercise in trial and error and I am actually enjoying being a picky eater, everything has been going great on the surface. I get excited to see my body change ever day and be almost unrecognizable sometimes to friends that I have not seen since before surgery; I enjoy having mire clothing options and being able to wear my hair up because not I have a chin and a neck. From the outside looking in and looking on the surface one would assume I am delighted. Don't get me wrong, I am enjoying my new life and still excited to see what will happen next, so why am I writing a post entitled Angry and Frustrated? read on and you will understand. Since my surgery I have had the worst pain of my life. I ended up in the ER when I was working out of town. My acid re-flux is so bad that it has inflamed my esophagus to the point that I thought I was having a heart attack. I also have horrible abdominal pain that radiates to my back. I had a CAT scan of my esophagus only to learn that there is damage and have to have an endoscopy. An ultrasound of my abdomen revealed that I have to have gallbladder removed and NOW I have NASH (fatty liver) and my arthritis seems worse. O have been asking myself lately, "why did I bother trying to get healthy?" Please share with me if you have had similar experiences and thoughts. I need to know I an not alone. Thanks in advance for reading and replying. Rant Over

    Re: Snacks

Soda? Why would you do that to yourself? I have never been a soda fan so I am happy to no have it as an option. Cookies you ask? ...try this 2 bananas, 2 c rolled oats, 1 tsp vanilla, 1 tsp cinnamon 1/4 c raisins, golden raisins or craisins. Mix together and scoop on to parchment lined sheet at 350 for 20 minutes. Bread well I can not eat wheat or grains but Julian Bakery makes a nice paleo bread from coconut flour. Again, never been a bread fan so this works in a pinch. Protein pancakes 2 mashed bananas, 1 scoop whey protein powered (strawberry or vanilla unflavored if you have it). 1 egg, 1/2 c skim milk. Mix together and cook on a griddle with non stick spray. You can use real maple syrup and bodybuilding.com makes a great natural sugar free maple syrup for protein pancakes.

What is on the menu today

Turkey sausage and cantaloupe for breakfast and for lunch left over "skinny" pizza I made last night. Cauliflower crust and sun dried tomatoes and artichoke hearts for toppings
  7. I sure am! Wow do grains of any kind wreak havoc on me. I am wondering if I was before and just didn't realize it.

    Peanut butter...oh no!

I make my own by throwing dry roasted peanuts in the food processor

    Right side pain

Lie down and rest and put ice on the area. That is what my home health nurse had me do, it works wonders!

    Peanut butter...oh no!

I am actually doing great. Fortunately I never really had a sweet tooth and I have learned to substitute dried quinoa for bread crumbs in recipes so it's not so bad!

    Right side pain

What you are experiencing is normal healing, it will go away on it's own. I had similar issues
  12. Gingi

    Finally feeling normal!

I am envious, I hope to get where you are soon. Tomorrow will be my 1 month and I have had my ups and down. I am going on vacation in 3 weeks and I can go back tot he gym in the pool in 2. Trial and error with food reintroducing it back in to my system and some work stress because I was gone so long and I am taking days off here and there because I feel horrible have me down so it is great to see it does get better!
  13. I take Cymbalta for nerve pain also. The first few weeks when I was so restricted I craved everything bad for me. As I have been able to eat solids I have given in to a couple of cravings and I was so sick that I will not do that again. Even though I had to see a psychiatrist as part of pre op work I still continue to work with my regular therapist every two weeks like I had been doing for a year before surgery to work with my issues with food. I am lucky because my niece is a Registered Dietitian, my sister in law is a health and wellness coach and I have a militant husband who will rat me out to them when I slip and these 2 women know me well enough to know how to motivate me. Go to your support group, keep coming here and reach out to your support system. We are all in this together. I am 29 days post op and have lost 30#. It is not easy and there are times I have regretted doing this or been terrified of failing but I am tenacious and failure is not an option. At my 3 week check up my surgeon was pleased with me but reminded me this is a marathon not a sprint and it is all a learning curve. Perhaps also some of the hunger you may feel is actually heartburn. Pepcid has an awesome chewable and the alka seltzer gummies are effective too. Feel free to private message me any time and remember; we are all in this together!

    Peanut butter...oh no!

Wheat is NOT my friend. I am OK with that though because I am not a bread fan and I have found a quinoa Pasta or I sub zucchini or squash for noodles, White potatoes make me sick but sweet potatoes do not. Also, sugar makes me feel horrible. Between the white giving e constipation and sugar giving me diarrhea I am allergic to most artificial sweetners-nutrasweet especially so I have created some rhymes: 1-If it is white it is not all right 2-If it is sweet retreat 3-Keep your new stomach pristine and eat clean
  15. I ate a lot of Hummus, it is one of my favorite foods by itself. I also did Greek yogurt, refried Beans, mashed sweet potato, mashed banana with some Peanut Butter. I found that Gerber baby food tasted better than Beach Nut. I liked the roast chicken and roast beet. The little jars of Gerber (yes, baby food!) were easy and convenient because they were just the right portion. I also ate Tuna and Chicken as well as Krab salads I really enjoyed a scrambled egg atop mashed avocado, Mashed squash is tasty also, I put some organic vegetable broth on a plate and place the squash face down on the plate and microwave it for about 20 minutes...so delicious!
  16. I had my 3 week follow up today and gauged foods were discussed. Can anyone share insight as to what yours are and some examples?
  17. I was regretting my decision while I was in the hospital and for the first few days at hoe. I was sleeved 5/21 and after I was able to transition from clear to full liquids I a happy with my choice. I a now on puree and having options makes this bearable. I am overjoyed that I only eat a little and I am full. I used to never feel full, I really enjoy that feeling now, it sure beets feeling hungry all the time, I am less obsessed with food now. Hang in there, the health benefits are so worth it not to mention better choices in fashion! Look at it this way, you can always bring home the left overs and enjoy the deliciousness a couple of more times!
  18. Has anyone tried quinoa post surgery? If so what was your experience. I love quinoa and now I have found Pasta made fro quinoa and I also use cooked quinoa as substitute for bread crumbs in recipes. Does it digest well after the sleeve?
  19. My husband, my in laws, my aunt and y 2 bff's. Everyone at work just knows I had some g.i.issues that needed to be resolved. As far as my parents and siblings, no one even knows I had been considering this. My family would just continue to mock and bully me and as far as my boss and co workers, I a legally protected and it is none of their business. My doctor just put down general surgery for my reason for LOA paperwork.
