My Aha moment was taking a short 50 yard walk to my neighbors cabin at the lake. I wasn't even half way there and I was winded...my knee and both hips hurt so bad. A simple walk across flat ground. I knew at that point something had to be done and knew that I wanted a solution for a lifetime cuz I had tried everything else. I am happy I had that moment
  3. The problem with living in a small town (pop.156) is that people get this attitude that what is your business is their business. I DON"T THINK SO!!!!!! It's their right to know what you had for breakfast and the last time you made love to your DH.
  4. Congrats...sounds like things are going great.
  5. I am staying on plan today because I did yesterday and I feel rejuvenated.
  6. Janet...thanks for the info. Just want to be ready and have things on hand when I finally get my surgery date. I ordered a few different protein drinks and bought a few different powders. I believe getting the protein in the liquid stages will be the toughest for me. I am not a milk drinker and never have been. Don't like ice cream even. Nothing milky. But, I will make the most of it. Like you said above....you gotta do what you gotta do. I also ordered the sugar free/calorie free Davinci flavoring to add to my protein shakes, coffee, etc. I bought my broth paste, flax oil and flax seed. I think I should be set once I get my vitamins. Thanks everyone for your info. Karen
  7. We live in a rural community. There's an old farmer a few miles from here that always talks about how he likes his wife to look "perfect". For her 70th birthday he bought her a tummy tuck. I will never forget her coming into my office a few months after her TT and showed me her new belly. Her shirt was tucked into a pair of knit pants. She was so proud. I figure if she could do it at 80, I can do it at 52 or 53.
  8. Good luck Moonshadow. Will be thinking of you tomorrow. Let us know how things go when you get back home.
  9. Thanks for the info. I will pick up some Centrum. I am unable to take calcium (I get kidney stones and was told to not supplement the calcium). I picked up some liquid B-12 for after the surgery. Thanks for your tips.
  10. Good luck, Julie, and may your recovery be quick. Will be following your progress. Hoping to do PS next spring. Hope you guys on the plastics threads don't think you have stalkers. We are just learning from the ones that walked b/4 us. And for that, I want to thank you.
  11. Give your surgeon's office a call to see what he recommends.
  12. I was guided to this forum by my dr. I really do think the reason was that there are so many questions prior to surgery. I have the feeling my dr. thinks that if you can survive what is discussed on LBT, then you are a good candidate for the surgery. Where are you going to learn if not from ones that have or are going through it? Each person has their own success/not-so-successful stories. Everyone has their way of getting their point across. Yes, the same old questions are asked over and over. There are going to be complaints and most are just looking for answers. Everyone handles situations differently. I usually can go through surgery (not banded yet) and recover quickly and have the same energy as b/4 in a short time period. Maybe this time I will be one of the ones "bitching" and whining cuz I just want to ask if it is normal, etc. I am so happy that I will have this forum to fall back on and have some reassurance within minutes when it's my turn to go through surgery and recovery. The way I feel about LBT is: it's like family. We are all in this together...the good and the bad. We are here to get support and give support.
  13. I have a question for you 50's? What did your dr. recommend for vitamins post surgery? Are they in the liquid form? Can you fill me in please? I am trying to get things lined up a little ahead of time. Thanks
  14. Allykat...so happy that you posted to let us know that you are doing better. Good luck to you and hoping you see weight loss results soon
  15. Good news, Coco. Can't wait for that day when I get the call. Good luck with your surgery, recovery and everything that comes with it!
  16. Tim, you should be so proud of yourself.
  17. I want to get dressed up and hear my husband say what he used to say "Dang you are sexy" instead of what he says now...a really bland "You look nice".
  18. Not even going to post what I ate yesterday. Starting anew today. Bought some Protein powder over the weekend. Want to see how it tastes and how it goes b/4 I have to start my pre-op diet. So my plan for today: B: 1 egg and 1 sausage L: Protein shake with a few strawberries S: 1 oz beef jerkey D: Grilled talapia/veggies Nothing but the above is going in my mouth today other than the above. I need an A$$ kicking for what went in there yesterday.
  19. Just printed this off for my friend that is living with us for a month till her new home purchase is complete. She found out her man was cheating on her for the last year or more. No shrimp involved in her move. She just mixed a can of cayenne pepper in his butt and ball powder. I catch her smiling everyone once in awhile.
  20. Wishing you good luck on your six mo. pre-op. Also, sending you good luck for approval by your ins. company
  21. Green..so sorry to hear of your news. Please know that my heart goes out to you.
  22. I work out of the home and it seems that most everything I eat is truly homemade. All our meat is purchased from our neighbors, homemade canned goods etc. So, I will list what I eat but I can tell you that I am not going to go to the bother of looking up the nutrients. Is that OK with everyone? I don't have a can or a package. I do weigh everything I eat on my Salter food scale, type in my food but I don't bother to write down only but the calories. Lazy, huh? Today: B: 2 eggs, scrambled L: Beanless chile made with V-8 juice and lean ground beef S: 1 oz beef jerkey D: 3 oz turkey with salsa
  23. Karey...what a difference. I bet you are happy that the surgery is behind you and you now can reap the benefits. Thank you for sharing.
  24. Hi Fellow MN's, Happy to hear that your surgery went well, Three, and that you are one the mend. I will most likely have my surgery the end of May or in June. BCBS requires a 6 mo. prep period. I am anxious to get it done and on the lapband road. I feel like I am hanging in limbo. Let's see if we can keep this MN thread actively going and see if we get some other poster as well
