While waiting for insurance approval I have done my sleep study and found I have sleep apnea this week. Last week did some minor blood work for an infection and it came back with high sugar levels. Go to the doctor for that tomorrow. I started this process with thinking I was relatively healthy with only concern being HBP. Now all this. I know this means I am making the right choice to have surgery. But what else are they going to discover? Haven't even done the EGD or EKG yet. I'm starting to get beat down and afraid this is going to postpone my surgery which I don't think I will handle well at all. ????

Dawn works wonders in getting the goop out. Cuts the grease like no other. Learned this with my daughter's EEGs.

Waiting for the insurance approval and went to the doctor for an unrelated issue. Ended up getting some modern done and revealed a high blood sugar. Now I'm scared the pre-op testing is going to reveal more and postpone the sugery. Had this happened to anyone else?

Had my first appointment today with Dr. Carlton at the Nicholson Clinic. Lived the staff and the doctor. I had even lost 4 pounds since last seeing my PCP at the end of June. Now the waiting begins to see if insurance will approve it begins. So excited

Did you have a additional fee for the surgeon, anesthesia, etc?

I was given the option of having my sleeve done here which is out of network versus an in network facility. And some how this is supposed to be the cheaper option? Not sure how that works.

While I wait to hear back from my surgeons office... How is using an out of network surgery center with an in network doctor dramatically less than in network for both? I have UHC.

Will be thinking of you today, let us know how it goes.

Has anyone have had their surgery at the Micro Surgery Center in Dallas near UTSW? I am possibly going through the Nicholson Clinic. Thanks.

My ever supportive mother in law had gastric bypass done 13 years ago and since then has been not so blunt in voicing her opinion that I should get it done. If I could get away with not telling her at all I would.????

Hey everyone, I am new here. I turn 40 tomorrow (how did that happen?) and meet with the surgeon for the first time on Wednesday. I am currently 260isg, 5'2", mommie to two beautiful girls and wife to an amazing guy. The only health issue known is HBP but I am pretty sure we might find more in all this pre-op testing. Has that happened to anyone? I know my insurance requires a 6 month diet which I have already completed with my PCP. So here's hoping insurance approval doesn't drag on. I have a lot of life to live and don't want to waste any more time! Very few people know I am looking into this because I want to avoid the peanut gallery comments of "it's about time". Has anyone else dealt with those?
