  1. Surgery May 26th 2015, coming up on a year and 70 lbs down. My one year surgeons goal was 65lbs, my personal goal is 90 lbs. can't believe how fast this year has flown by. So happy I had this done, I feel great!

    The Plateau From Hell

I tried having an extra protein shake each day. I was feeling really weak and tired and the scale wasn't moving. Just the few extra calories broke the stall and made me feel better. Almost as if my body was relieved I wasn't starving myself and started letting go of the pounds again.

    Food amounts

I'm 5.5 months out, I was eating 800-1000 calories a day and I stalled for the longest time at 50 lbs. I added 250 more calories to my diet, around 1,200/day and immediately dropped another quick 5 and then 10 lbs, and feel so much more energetic. Made sure my extra 250 calories were high in protein and little to no sugar. I guess my body needed a little more fuel to burn more efficiently!

    Questions for Alcohol Drinkers ONLY!

Good questions! How long did I wait? About 3-4 weeks. Wanted to make sure I was getting my full 64 oz of liquids first before any alcohol. For fear of dehydration! Any complications? I'm a big wine drinker and most of the time the acidity gives me major reflux or heart burn. Liquor I haven't noticed a problem. Don't mix with sugary stuff, high sugar can cause some "dumping" effects. Still can't handle carbonation, champagne, or beer, one sip can be painful. Weight gain? None, still loosing and I'm 6 months out. Drink much less than prior to surgery. Sip much slower. Addiction? I can stop whenever. It doesn't go down as fast and easy as it use too.
  5. I can't wait to take a family picture (me included) and frame it on the wall or send it in a Christmas card! Buy cute clothes again. Be active with my kids and neighborhood social opportunities. Take a nice beachy vacation with hubby and feel sexy. 20 yr high school reunion!

    May 26th Sleevers - 2 week check-in!

4 week check in? How is everyone? Father's Day weekend came with a lot of food and alcohol temptations! "Tested" a few bites of solid foods/meats, and while the bites were small I think I popped it in my mouth/ chewed too quickly an paid the price. Got sick , first time since surgery. Missed eating for the first time! Had a glass of wine. Sipped it over 3 hours so it had no effect. 24 lbs lost since surgery on 5/26, last week only down 2 lbs. 10 lbs to go until "onederland." Was hoping to be there by July 4th, but doesn't look like I'll get there.
  7. Awesome, I was sleeved on May 26th as well. Started eating some soft foods these last 2 days. I don't mind the protein shakes but it's good to get some substance and something with a savory flavor as opposed to the sweet protein drinks. Tried beans, I puréed black beans and made a healthier refried version. I've puréed some beef stew and tomato basil soup which was so yummy. Can only get about 2 oz of food down, but I'm successfully reaching my 64 oz of fluids each day and 60-70 g of protein which has made me feel better I think. Doing about 45 minutes on the treadmill, lower speed of course. Surgery day I was 235 yesterday's post op appt I was 221, hope it keeps up!

    Drains?

Calling my doctor tomorrow because I'm not sure what's normal but I've increased fluid output in my drain each day ( I'm 7 days post op). First 24 hours home from the hospital I had 75cc, in the last 24 hours 165cc! Yes seems counter productive since I'm trying to get fluids INTO my body. I guess it's great that this fluid isn't building up in my abdomen. Liquid is clear and Amber in color as it should be, but I'm still having a lot of pain associated with it. Can't wait to get it out!
  9. Got a lot of soreness and abdominal pain/gas again today. I was feeling really good yesterday and this morning, perhaps I overdid it a bit. Feels like maybe the yogurt or cottage cheese may have blew a staple, ouch. Going to stick with the clear stuff through tomorrow and see if this pain goes away. Hope everyone else is feeling well.
  10. Feeling good now, got a little brave this morning and tried some scrambled eggs and cottage cheese, maybe a tbsp of each. Ouch.... Food is going to take time! Not drinking with the food is also a huge challenge. Only takes about 2 tbsp of yogurt to fill me up as well. Thought I was feeling good enough to skip pain meds today but starting to get a little more pain and soreness, may have to get a small dose.
  11. Dr Cribbins in Plano TX did mine on May 26th. Great guy, definitely made me feel at ease during the 4 month process. Also he does surgery at several fabulous hospitals.

    May

Had mine May 26th Baylor Plano TX. First 2 days were hard, mostly just the gas. Today, 4 days post op, or 5 days if u count operation day, and I feel normal again. So much energy. It is a full time job getting down fluids and protein. Haven't weighed yet, thought I'd save that for first post op appt at dr office. They sent me home with a drain, that has been the biggest pain. Good luck!
  13. Are you trying the already mixed premier or the powder? I only like chocolate or strawberry, can't do the vanilla unless it's mixed with something. Maybe they're still a little too thick, maybe thin them with some milk?
  14. Tried some tomato basil soup for lunch. Ate 3 oz and it tasted amazing and was so satisfying. Food does taste great when it's only a taste! Anyone else try something yummy? Outside of protein shakes, my taste buds were getting bored!
  15. So today was a much better day than yesterday. Only had to take pain meds once. I managed to get 51 oz of fluid, including chicken broth and a premier protein shake. Really surprised how much of an improvement in only one day. If it weren't for this drain, I'd probably be completely pain free. Waiting until Monday to start full liquids and soft foods. Think I'll stick to the clear stuff/protein shakes through the weekend to give myself a little more time to heal. Today I meal planned for the hubs and kids for the next 2 weeks. Got everything ready to go so I don't have to think about their food too much. I think I'll venture out to costco tomorrow!
