A few sips won't hurt you on special occasions however u won't be able to eat and drink at same time especially carbonated drinks and pls don't try this until u are at least three months post op trust me when u have had the limit u will know the tummy will over rule you in a big way lol and u won't want anymore

@@harley_quinn25 @@bikrchk thank you for your realistic replies!! Believe me drinking isn't the end all be all of my happiness, but it is very much a part of my social life. I plan on waiting a while to drink again but I would like to be able to have A drink to Celebrate my graduation at the least. My question to you is this: what did you drink when you started back up? I was thinking crystal light and vodka to keep the calories low. Are you at a point where you are able to order a regular drink now or do you think that's what makes the weight come back fast?
I realize that all of this is heading toward a brighter future and who knows maybe by the fall I will have lost so much I won't even want to drink but right now I'm dealing with weekend after weekend of going out with friends and everyone looking at me like they pity me for not being able to drink and people buying a round of shots and me having to tell people I'm not drinking and ALL THE QUESTIONS.
To everyone else: I understand that drinking is not important in the long run and I have to make changes for this to work but I really don't appreciate the condescension and the assumptions that drinking is the only thing I care about or the only thing I'm proud of. This entire journey is a very tough and arduous one and I'm very worried about the social implications in my life. I wish my school didn't have so much of a drinking culture but it does and I love my school and I love my friends and I just know that this school year is going to be rough on me anxiety-wise in feeling left out or feeling like people are talking about me.

That is the big thing I learned today at the 6 hour boot camp my surgeon runs at Signature Medical in Brockton MA.
From past experiences I know my Mom n law who had a gastric bypass drank..that ended badly for a lot of reason..and my Brother in law also has a gastric bypass does drinks booze and coffee does fine . A friend who is sleeved and 2 yrs post op has an occasional drink of caffinated coffee and cocktails..like daquris's not burbon...
and she's doing good.
For me..teling me I ABSOLUTLY can not do something has always been like red to a bull. It is my WHOLE issues with weight loss really... It is the only absolutes the progam has post op aside from keeping your appointments.
But I am having a hard time wraping my head around it.
I have already given up diet coke. Is keeping my one cup of coffee a day and an occasinal glass of wine to much to hope for?
The brightside I learned today was there is NO pre op liquid diet.< /p>

Hi l'm from Ohio and after 18 mths of hard work I got approved and finally scheduled for the 7th of July! So exciting to finally get to make this change hopefully forever with this tool.

July 7th for me! I'm going on vacation for July 4th so I am going to thoroughly enjoy myself ! I am getting more excited but nervous about recovery. I am praying everyone's surgery and recovery goes smoothly!
