  1. Hi all - I'm looking for some advice! I am just about 9 weeks post op and feeling great! But I am about to start student teaching and am worried about how my coworkers are going to act about how little I eat. I've been able to survive going out to dinner with friends saying "oh I had a late lunch" and was able to go through a full day training with friends who are also student teaching by packing a bunch of healthy Snacks and "snacking" all day (which really I ate a little and shared the rest with them!) So how so I handle questions about eating so little when I start student teaching? Any teachers out there with the VSG? How are yall handling back to school?

    June 30th Sleevers?

Hope you're all settled in after your move. Did you graduate recently or just move to another location while you finish school? What did you major in? (Sorry so many questions but you got me curious. Also sorry I didn't ask when you first posted. Been so busy I didn't have time to ask until now.) I just graduated in May! My major was dance education with a minor in special education- dance team and classes are big in high school in Texas! So not only do I get to teach, I get to workout for my job - which will be so much easier now!!

    June 30th Sleevers?

Hi everyone! Happy 1 month!! I am down 23 pounds and 35 inches total!! Even though I'm so happy about that I think I could have lost more this past week. This last weekend I was moving out of my college apartment. My roommates and I moved, cleaned, and laughed about memories and I took a little break from focusing on my water/protein/carb intake. I was still very careful about HOW I ate, but since we were so busy I don't think they noticed. Since I was sad about leaving my college town, I had a few meals from my favorite places- which included A Breakfast taco (and please don't judge me) which included the homemade tortilla and all. - granted it took me over 7 hours to eat it and I didn't even finish it. Throughout the 4 weeks I haven't been great at getting my Protein in everyday, but since I just got a membership to SAMs things are going to change! I got the 30 pack of premier shakes and a huge tub of it so I can make like a mocha frappe in my magic bullet!! For exercise I've been swimming and walking (especially a lot on those nights when I waitress!) Hope everyone is doing great and look forward to everyone's everyday progress!!!

Thankful you and your family weren't there tonight. But prayers are sure being sent up for all those whose hearts are breaking tonight

Have to vent: I was just watching Good Morning America and they were talking about 3 women who lost 100+ pounds each and the anchor said "these women who lost weight without surgery or short cuts" - makes me mad.

I really don't want to come across as bragging- but I'm just too excited I have to share! Stepped on the scale today and I'm down a little over 20 pounds in 20 days! I'm amazed! I know this fast paced weight loss isn't going to last forever (and I haven't hit my first stall yet - so that should be coming soon) but I'm just so happy about our choice to change our lives! To be totally cliche: it may not always be easy but it is so worth it!

How much of the unflavored protein do you normally put in one serving of food?

    June 30th Sleevers?

I've noticed that I'm eating a lot more this week - I mean not my old usual amount but more that I have the past two weeks. I'm still staying under 700 calories (which is still mind boggling to me! I would have been able to eat that in one meal hahaha!) but I'm trying to only weigh myself once a week so I don't get discouraged if I do stall But I'm in the same boat as you - my bmi wasn't crazy high so I was expecting to lose very fast but I'm very pleasantly surprised!! Yay for the sleeve!

I love doing lemon, cucumber, and mint in my water - it changes flavor with each sip you take and it is so refreshing!

I log with MFP and it will save without you hitting "complete my entry" because it gets mad at me for not eating enough (that's still weird)

    June 30th Sleevers?

I've been having this weird stitch in my right side. It's not near any of my incisions and it's pretty constant. It hurts worst when I lean over something. Has anyone felt this or have any idea what it could be?
  15. I'm currently one week post op and feel great - still doing cream Soups stage because my surgeon tried something different on me and just wants to make sure I'm all good and healed before I move food stages. Has anyone cruised after the sleeve? Do you have any advice for me? I'd really like to enjoy the food on the ship because I know I won't have that kind of stuff anywhere but the ship I for sure won't be drinking just because it scares me to drink that soon after surgery. And I might get some heat for saying this - but I'd like to enjoy my food (regardless of weightloss) before coming back home and focusing on myself. After all - this is my college graduation gift!

I like plain Greek yogurt with just a touch of honey - it's my favorite. But I also found some frozen Greek yogurt Popsicles that are the best thing I think I've ever had. I bought a chocolate and a sea salt Carmel and tried the Carmel one last night and about cried because it was so good. @@Ktprimo - I'm probably going to be trying a straw soon. I just feel like I drink more when I have a straw And I'm sorry your friends are upset- they have absolutely no reason to be, but I'm glad you met someone who knows what's up and who you can go to for advice

Just hold in there! I'm now a week post op and feel pretty great - if I move a certain way I get a a little pull from my muscles but other than that I'm great! I don't take pain medicine anymore and feel energetic! You are perfect normal to be feeling that pain right now and it's okay to be puny for a couple of days - just know the light is coming at the end of your tunnel soon!! Good luck!!

    July Sleever

My surgery was supposed to be on the 7th, but my surgeon had a cancellation so I got moved up to June 30th which makes me 6 days post op now. Here are my tips: - start everything slow. I got ice chips first and I would just suck on them and let the Water drip down my throat. Then I was allowed water and I think I took smaller sips then what the ice chips provided me. I've just now gotten up to (almost) regular drinks. I consider them mini drinks - in between a sip and a full drink - walking helps gas pain so much: whenever I would get up to get me something I'd walk to the front of the house, then the back of the house and then to the object I needed. I would walk around the living and kitchen while slowly taking my liquid pain medicine. Just get steps in to get the gas out - follow your surgeons food plan: now there are times when I'm like "I just want some grilled chicken!" And think that I could handle that and I have to stop and remember that not only do I have a tiny tummy now, it is still super fragile. So I go get me some Soup - even if you aren't hungry EAT: (which is super weird for most of us to hear) but you will feel so much better if you get some calories in you! It's seriously like night and day energy wise And to give you hope for those who haven't had surgery before like me- I'm 6 days post op and am feeling pretty normal. Just a little pain when I move a certain way and I still can't sleep on my side yet but I have a feeling I will be able to shortly. Prayers for all your upcoming surgeries! And I know you'll do great!!

Hahaha yeah no more buffets But I'm going on the cruise with my family and since both my mom and I have the sleeve - it will be good since we can help each other

    June 30th Sleevers?

My mom is 5 weeks post op and feels completely normal (but with smaller portions of course) and she just keeps telling me "a few more weeks and you'll be there- just push through!" It also helps that is about 7 weeks I'll be on a cruise - so only eating soups will help me looks good for the cruise too ????
