About Me

I have Federal Blue Cross Blue Shield. I was denied in 2015 because the previous year my BMI dropped below due to being on prescription weight loss meds. I waited another two years, since they require the BMI to stay above 35 for two years. I took all my nutrition classes over again, went through the psych again, etc. I was approved the second time. My insurance requires a BMI of 35 with at least two co-morbidities. I have type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (which has been progressing for about five years now), sleep apnea, and osteoarthritis/neuropathy. My goal is to lose enough weight to reverse my health conditions so that I can live a longer life. I have been unable to lose enough weight and keep it off for many, many years. It used to be about looking good when I was younger - now it is just so I don't want to worry about stroking out or slowly killing my liver with food. Some people would say or they do tell me that I don't weigh enough to have this surgery but they don't know what the inside of my body says about being over weight, they just see the outside. I guess not much on the outside says my blood pressure has been so high I could have a stroke or that I fight with my diabetes on a continual basis. But I bet they can look at me and tell I love cheese and birthday cake.
