P.S. There really is no good word for grown-ups. "Significant other" is so creepy, impersonal and stupid-sounding.

I'm 64 and he refers to me as his girlfriend. He is 65 and I refer to him as my boyfriend, gentleman friend, or "Um-Friend" It depends on who is asking.

The term "Um-friend" is for when I don't feel like I have to define the relationship at all. We are together 10 years now. For the Nosy Nellies, he is my ummmmmmmm-friend.

Ohhhhh the term. Significant other not cool, but yes creepy. I would be ok with friend, but I'm not normal or so they say.
