    Had my drain removed today

Hi! I am sorry to hear you are having a bad time. Is your drain secured??? Mine was secured in place ALL the time with dressings and tons of tape. The discomfort came when I removed all of this to take a shower but it got much better again after the dressing was changed and secured again. Have you tried that?

I guess if you cut down the carbs your sugar cravings should diminish as well... at least that's what I have heard... though I know it's so hard!!! I was sugar/carbs addicted my whole life and it is a relief to know I can overcome that now with less effort but I know this is a strange secondary effect that happens just sometimes

    Had my drain removed today

Hi Craig. I was draining around 30 cc every 6 hours or so but the doc said it's not so much the amount of liquid as it is its color. It has to look least bloody... more yellowish/brownish because we produce peritoneal liquid naturally every day. When all you are draining is this liquid then it can be removed. Still have to get your doc's ok before removing it to make sure. Good luck!

Thanks hunny!! Good luck to you too!! My regular diet includes pretty much anything. I am having Breakfast right now. eggs with chorizo. But my portion is about the size of half a cup. Yesterday I had chicken meatballs cooked in a light tomato Soup and the day before Pasta bolognesa. Everything in small portions and I make sure I chew everything the best I can before swallowing. The only thing I couldn't hold down was bread. I fixed myself 3 thin slices of a baguette (tapas style) with cream cheese and smoked salmon. I did throw up that time. I read before that bread is complicated to include in your diet after a sleeve. I also had to program my phone to be reminded to eat. I feel no hunger (thank you Lord) so I have an alarm programmed to remind me every hour to either eat something or drink something the rest of the day. Hard to stay hidrated when you can't drink more than half a glass of Water without feeling discomfort. How about you??? How is your diet so far?? How do you feel after trying something new for the first time after surgery??? I discovered my sweet tooth must have been pulled along with my stomach during surgery because I can't stand anything too sweet anymore. It's disgusting! (Thank you Lord once again lol)

    Had my drain removed today

It's funny. It's almost like you are my sleeve sister lol. Got sleeved the same day, got the drain removed the same day, have lost almost the same amount of weight... we even look alike. I also have big eyes, dark hair too. Have not figured out yet how to upload a profile pic... will figure it out later. It is cool to feel related to someone going through the same process. How many pounds to lose to reach your goal?

    Back pain? From weight loss.

How long ago was your surgery?? If it's recent might be caused due to bad position. I had my surgery 12 days ago and my back is killing me but I know it's because I hunch all the time. If I stand up or sit straight I feel like I'll pull the stitches so I walk and sit in odd positions... gotta fix that soon =P

    Had my drain removed today

Hello miss motivated!! We got sleeved the same day and I also had to keep my drain under my clothes until today. I actually removed my own. I had a drain a couple of years ago from a different surgery and I learned doctors are animals when it comes to removing drains or stitches. So I didn't want to put myself in that position again. I took a long, relaxing shower with warm Water, washed all my wounds with soft soap and headed to the doctor's office and told him I wanted to remove the drain myself. He looked at me with a strange smile on his face... like he didn't think I would have the balls to do it and handed me a pair of tiny scissors. I took a look down to see how the stitches were holding my drain tube in place, I cut them and later I started pulling my drain slowly... changing my position once or twice to release some discomfort but didn't feel any pain. I am so happy now that it's gone!!! I feel much better. I had a soft pain under my left rib since the day of the surgery just like when you run with your mouth open but after removing the drain it's gone!!! I hope you are also feeling better.

    Recovering

Hi! I'm 10 days out of my surgery and I am finally relaxed after the complications with post op bleeding that I presented. I removed my own surgical drain today under a doctor's supervision. I don't know why but it scared me less than letting him do it. So far I've lost 17 pounds and have not had any nausea or vomits or acid reflux... nothing at all. Actually I have been eating a "regular diet" for the past 3 days and no problems at all... except for the portion size. I can eat half a cup before feeling pain and discomfort in my chest... but that's not really a problem!!! It's the whole reason why I had this surgery done in the first place!! Just trying to regain my strength back as soon as I can. After the bleeding I received two transfusions but still feel very weak. My pain level is minimum. I have been able to care for my children (4yr old male twins) after school and even if I still get a bit dizzy after long periods standing up and can't bend over or carry them in my arms I have no trouble moving around at my own pace. So far so good. I can see my body changing by the day and it makes me feel so friggin' happy... yayyyyy! Definitely worth the couple of scary days that I thought I might bleed to death in my sleep and the horrible, throbbing pain in my neck and shoulders immediately after the surgery that nobody talks about after a lapariscopic surgery... everything worth it. Thanks for reading.

    Scared

The surgeon was concerned by the amount of bloody discharge coming out of the drain. That's why they opened my wounds for a second time on Wednesday and why i had to stay a bit longer away from home. He suggested a blood transfusion that I got done yesterday but then overnight I had 280 cc of bloody liquid in the drain and an extra 150cc during the day (until this moment). I keep draining but feel ok. No dizziness, no pale skin... that's why I was so desperate to hear from other people about their experience. Maybe this is not normal but at least not bad either... Thanks for reading.

I had a lapariscopic sleeve surgery. The doc said each of the holes were called ports. Sorry if I posted my message a couple of times in disctinct forums. I am new and was not aware of that rule plus I think my desperation is understandable if you'd put yourself in my place and found yourself alone in a hotel room seeing you just filled a whole glass of blood overnight and can't find anywhere on the Internet how much is too much. But don't worry won't happen again.

Thank you so much 4me4them. Support is all I needed I guess since I have been away from my family for a week and I am all alone in another city and with the complications I actually started fearing for my life since I have drained over a liter since the procedure was done. I thought I would bleed to death in my sleep.

    Scared

Hi friends. I contact you because I am actually very scared because I had my VSG procedure done on Monday the 11th and by Wednesday the 13th the doctor thought I was draining too much (my drain tube had to be emptied 3 times during the day @ 80 cc per time) plus I had tachycardia and my red globes had gone below 9. I was in the OR again by Wednesday, they opened up my ports and saw that some bleeding had happened. Couldn't find the actual spot but they re-sutured the port that seemed to have had the problem and off I go again. I was supposed to return to my husband and kids today and here I am in another city paying 3 extra days in a hotel and a blood transfusion performed today to have 2 blood units transfused because the doctor thought it would help me. My concern? I am STILL draining too much. 250cc since last night. My question is does anybody remember how much did you drain? Should I be worried? I feel fine. Very sore under my left side but ok. No fever no dizzines no vomits... nothing irregular except for the draining amount. Please let me know what you think.
