  1. 8 golden rules say I can drink while eating. I forgot about that!

    1. ShrinkingPeach

      ShrinkingPeach

You are not supposed to drink while eating. The fluid will flush the food through your sleeve leading you to eat more...sometimes it can cause nausea.

    2. lapband78

      lapband78

Yeah that's what I had read but Dr. Paul O'Brien says that new study shows that the food flushes fast enough by it self. But I'm still careful. I will only drink with food if it's to spicey/hot

  2. After fill, how long were you on fluids?

    1. AvalonNeeCee

      AvalonNeeCee

      rest of same day only.

    2. AvalonNeeCee

      AvalonNeeCee

but by the way I didn't follow that entirely. I waited about 2 hours.

Thanks, I had soup for dinner, I think I'll have a soft food tomorrow for breakfast and lunch and then regular food for dinner

  3. Another lunch, another stuck episode because of edema :(

      lapband78

Best advice I can think of is try not to beat yourself up over it. It is done and you cannot undo it. if you are like me, and you beat yourself, you will end up in that vicious cycle of "well I will start over again on Monday", etc. Start over now. Don't wait. One meal, one hour, one minute at a time. Learn from it and move on. :) (Can you tell this is something I have dealt with already and already discussed extensively with a counselor? :)) One good piece of advice the counselor said, is ask yourself, what would you say to a friend that came and told you the same thing? Would you beat them up or be encouraging? Think of that and then give yourself the same kind advice.

Thank you for your reply :) I will come back to it on my next cheat day, because there will be one for sure. Hopefully it won't come back soon though :)

Agreed...put your fork or spoon down and sit back to chew.

I also use more of my time in between forkfuls to have conversations with others. I have actually enjoyed more mealtime with others because I eat slowly and eat so little.

    4. lapband78

      lapband78

I tried speaking with other people while eating but I thought I looked silly because everyone else were shoveling their food into their mouth haha. But I know, I can't eat alone all the time. I have to get used to this.

At lunch today I always put down my fork and went on 9gag on my phone while chewing that helped haha :)

  6. BCS of difficulty of eating for lunch, I'm going to try fluid and mashed food again.

  7. Being around cakes and desserts all the time is so difficult!

      Lexigurl82

I know the feeling. I'm trying to stay away from junk food but people on my job keep bringing in cakes and cupcakes for everyone.

Yeah, and so difficult to say no. Today I skipped lunch because someone at work brought a birthday cake that just looked so good. I've asked my family to keep the cakes and deserts to a minimum.

  8. Biggest problem, I don't drink enough water. Only manage 1.5 liters a day

    1. KellyKell

      KellyKell

Me too. I just don't like water. Why can't coffee give me the hydration I need!! LOL

    2. lapband78

      lapband78

Yeah and I loved carbonated water. Wish I could drink that. And I want to cry but after the lapband I don't like coffee that much!! why oh why! ???

  9. Can it be I need another fill after 1 week. I feel I can eat too much

    1. lexiemia

      lexiemia

Give it some time. You don't want to get it too tight because it will cause you to get food stuck. Give it a couple weeks and see how you do. I found it helpful to eat very slow and stop when I started to feel full. It Is easy to get in the habit of eating more than we should and what is actually happening is the esophagus is dilating. I went through all of this for 11 years. Finally got tired of stuck food and vomiting. Converted to a sleeve May 28th. It may be helpful to weigh your food for a while.

    2. lapband78

      lapband78

Thank you for your advice. I never eat until I'm full. I always stop when I think I'm at the limit. But yeah I wont get a fill untl after 3 weeks from now. I guess there is more swelling going down now.

  10. Doc says my port isn't laying like it should. Super painful to get a fill :( blood and tears literally!

  11. Does your port ever feel uncomfortable?

That's life with the lapband after 10 years of barfing...and the pain and a myriad of other problems I am trying to revise to sleeve or rny....the band is misery for me....not to mention my weight loss is dissapointing.

    1. lexiemia

It could be worse you could be on liquids. I came home from the hospital yesterday. My son made bacon this morning. Talk about torture. I feel your pain.

    2. lapband78

      lapband78

No Way! The family should be on the same diet as us! ;) Or at least not make food with smells that make us crazy

I was always the hot sweaty one. Shorts and tshirt and sweat in the middle of winter. Now I am so cold all the time too. Space heater at work, with 2 layers of long sleeves. I like it because I always liked layering and sweaters but used to get so hot. Now I am not hot.

    3. Mom26

      Mom26

I'm so cold all the time that at times it's intolerable. Just got an electric blanket for the den, use the fireplace all the time, have the heat cranked up to 72. Thankfully my hoodies fit me better with the weight loss. And I wear a tank under every top I wear. I need the layers.

    4. lapband78

So glad I'm not the only one! yeah I have now got a heater at my office on the floor and i'm not searching for a table heater for my fingers. And I'm gonna get some thin fingerless gloves

      lapband78

Thank you :) Never thought it would be difficult to drink water. I'm down to 750ml, and half a cup of coffee

  25. Gonna try popcorn at Friday (movies) for the first time since lapband in may. Can I?

    1. Proud2BMe

      Proud2BMe

I would advise against it. Popcorn is one of those no-no foods because you can eat a ton of it and it is all carbs. Trust me, I had the gastric sleeve and I allowed myself to eat popcorn and I ate a whole large bag and was so ashamed.

Can you? Sure, you can do anything you want, but why would you? Be wary of recreational eating.
