  1. @@VDLT - hi there. My NUT says I should be still weighing out my food. I weigh food Until I'm done with weight loss. So my goal is 2 ounces of protein and 1 ounce of veggie. that's still what I can handle.
  2. My new go to for a sweet is yogurt with sugar-free caramel to torani sauce. It's like a Sunday without ice cream.
  3. @@byebyefat - i have no booty when sitting in a chair so i cross my legs. Never did it before!
  4. Yes the bad breath and weird taste is very normal. In addition to the keyytosis that was referenced above it's also I have from the protein shakes. As soon as you lessen the number of protein shakes the smell starts to change. Now be careful at my farts also have a very stinky smell. Welcome to the protein fun that were in. Good luck!!
  5. @@lovelylala hi there. I told no one. A couple people at work have now guessed and I confirmed their guess . I continue to keep this very close and if anyone asks I'm losing weight by exercise and no carbs.
  6. Morning.... I am sitting here feeling bad. I have an emotional week (too many personal things to explain) and the first thing to go to hell - my routine. For the past two days - I missed my Water, Protein and exercise. Then on my Instagram, i see this. Everyone REMEMBER!!!

  8. I am at 8 months - and I even bring my scale out to dinner so I a make sure even out I do not get carried away. Love my travel scale.
  9. @@Kindle - thanks for you note. My PCP agreed - and I am at 8 months too. We are not waiting - and going to remove the gallbladder in 2 weeks. Just get rid of it I say....
  10. I am in again... Current weight 233.5. Target after 9 weeks is 220. Happy Holidays
  11. Last weigh in.... 233.5. YEAH!!! Beat my goal by 1/2 pound.
  12. I am in...... should we do a google doc to help us keep track? Goal is 1-hour activity per day 5 days a week. Usually I do two 30 min activities.
  13. The light is coming.... very soon you will be past this part an on to the next stage. It will all work out. Remember - variety is good. Add sugar free torani syrup to change up the shakes. banana shake with chocolate Chocolate shake with peppermint (just in time for holiday) Chocolate shake with PB2 Chocolate shake with Rasberry vanilla with Rasberry Hope this give you ideas....
  14. Bring your scale... makes ure you makeup how much you can eat and then but away in To-go container so you do not overeat. Check menu before to find option As for the family things... I have discussed I need to take a year off. I too come from big Italian family and I just am not ready. So, we decided on a no holiday this year with family -instead husband kid and I are heading to a little vacation. I am sad to say - I can eat out at a restaurant better than when I go to family (since they are always pushing food my way).
  15. having my pants fall down... those are always fun... even when they are embarrassing. My latest one..... someone sat next to me at a conference. Like right next to me... never happened before.
  16. Take a deep breath - you are doing good. Do not be scared - as long as you take the food change slow and if it hurts, stop policy... all will work out. As for veggies... try zucchini cooked (it's good and soft) or maybe some squash (perfect time of year).
  17. hi!! I am 7 months out and I still do not like plain Water. I have to flavor it up. My favorite - berries and mint leaves.
  18. Congratulations... so happy for you. Just wait till 50 pounds... that was a fun milestone for me.
  19. @@Kimcamm - first of all wow... you and I had surgery 1 day apart from the same surgeon. WOW!!!! So nice to finally meet you. I totally get where you are coming from. I am so thankful for my husband, let me explain more on the back history first. I have now lost 4 friends from this surgery - they all felt this was the "easy way out". It has been very hard to lose some long time friends but I think this is part of the surgery outcome. I think... my opinion... that my food choices were good for my friends because it helped to validate their food choices as ok or fine. Now that I am making changes and losing weight, they say I have become no longer fun to go out with. Really - we just do not eat like we used to because I have a different relationship with food. What they do not understand,,,,, their reaction makes me feel so alone. I have so much self-esteem issues already - this has really made it crazy. So here I am... I might get laid off from my job next week and I so want to eat - chocolate please NOW!!! I am having another one of my really bad periods (yes, mine have been horrible since the surgery). I so want to curl up in a ball with a bag/ box of donuts..... But I have to remind myself (literally every hour) that this is the old me. The new me, needs to go for a walk, drink Water or Protein shake, listen to music REALLY loud, write, paint ( I suck at painting), or do something/ anything that does not involve food. Here is where my husband gets in... When I started this journey, we took my 6 months weight management as a time to really think about how our life is going to change. This time really helped us get closer and plan for what it to come. We have set up strategies and yes, I get yelled at by him when I do not stick to the strategies. Cause I need to hear it otherwise I am going back to my old way. I am thankful to have had this time to prepare and we have gotten closer because of it. I have two ladies who have asked for mentors. I consider this a time where I can "pay forward" what my husband is giving to me. We need a guide, mentor, helper on this journey. I wish I knew how important it was when I started. I am trying to tell my NUT how important this is - and I think, the people in the doctors office are not enough. We need people who have lived through this. I think having these ladies in my life have helped me be a stronger wls patient - they improve my recovery and keep me on the right track and want me to succeed. Sure it takes time from me... but what I get back from them is so much emotionally. My advice to new patients and people planning... try to find a mentor to help you when you need it. Trust me you will. My advice to those of us 6 months out... be a mentor. Others are struggling and it's our job to help them succeed, so we can all show the success of this surgery and get others to realize this is not the "easy way out".
  20. My issue is if I see the food - I tend to eat it.. so I have built strategies to take i out of sight. This is helping. for instance, I avoid the break room with the "calorie rich Snacks. I also have a "cannot touch" cabinet in the house that is just for hubby and kids. And I have had to learn to stay away. Lastly - log everything.. Make yourself accountable. Here is my rule - I cannot eat until I finish my Water bottle. This way I have to drink 32 oz between each meal. This has helped....Especially since it take me almost 2 hours to drink my water. Good luck!!!
  21. Whooo hooo - made my target. 234 this morning...
  22. But my knee still had my boobs .... does that matter?
  23. @@JudeaJordon - sorry you're having a bad time with this. It does get better. But....let me say this. My saddest point on this journey was my first time going out to dinner. I was so overwhelmed with not being able to eat like I used to that it became too much. My advice is to start thinking about where food was your most enjoy activity because those experiences are going to change and possibly go away. Start thinking about food as nourishment not as enjoyment. this really helped me overcome my sadness around food and eating. Hope this helps.
  24. I love this post so much! It is truly the funniest thing on a Sunday morning.
  25. Same problem with regular water. I don't know why regular water does not sit well with me in my pouch. I have to flavor it with Crystal light with the sunny with some drops to make it taste better. Try iced tea, warm, cold. Etc.
