I made a few purchases over the weekend:
Nutribullet-My Vitamix is too big for single servings.
Bathroom Scale-A new one that is supposed to be VERY accurate.
Kitchen Scale-Haven't had one for years
The last two will be here tomorrow.

It's a bit expensive but if you have the money, get a Vitamix! I love mine and it will do most anything. I use mine for Soups and smoothies/shakes. Not a lump to be found. I think it would be great for post-op.
BTW, it has a 7 year warrantee. You could spend that much on replacing cheaper machines over that period of time. It does more than blend so you could use it through ALL the post-op stages and when you are on "normal" food.

My psyche eval was more about how I would follow through rather than how I got there. I had one visit pre-op and don't have the next one until my two years are up in December.

LousPeachy got a reaction from JustWatchMe in RENT A DRESS & OTHER CLOTHES
This may have been mentioned before but I don't remember seeing it.
I found a website, Gwynnie Bee where for a fee you can basically rent (borrow sounds better) designer clothes. This would be good if you were a professional woman who needed to dress well but knew it was crazy to buy something expensive you wouldn't be able to wear for very long or if you needed a dress for a special occasion. They have ALL sizes too. They carry other clothes besides dresses, all designer stuff.
If this is a repeat post, sorry. But this may be just what someone needs.

I am 8 days post op after having my sleeve and hiatal hernia repair. I also had 3 hours of adhesion lysis before they even started that part because my stomach and intestines were all stuck together and to my abdominal walls with scar tissue from previous surgeries. I never do anything the easy way. That being said, I had my follow up appointment today, first with my NUT and then my surgeon. They were both very happy with my progress, although I'm still sore and tender from the first part of my surgery. I started full liquids yesterday and had no problems except I wasn't able to take in the recommended portions or Protein, but I'm working on it. I'm up to about 42 oz of Water a day and am working on that, too. I have a bunch of crystal light packs that I bought but don't like the sweet taste. It's plain water all the way for me. The best news was I lost 12.1 lbs since the day before surgery and a total of 30 lbs since I began at my first appointment. I feel great and go to the gym to walk on the treadmill which I've done the past three days. I'll get back to the stationary bike and stepper next week. This is the best thing I've ever done for myself and I feel like I'm well on my way to a healthy life. I'm a type I diabetic so I'll never be able to throw away the insulin but I have cut it back by more than 80% of what I took before surgery. Yay me! I'm so glad I didn't let my age (64) stop me from doing this. I feel great!!

I worked retail for 26 years. I can't figure WHY they put PLUS Sizes on the second or third floor! Yeah, we all probably need the exercise. What we DON'T need to be so out of breath and sweaty that we can't try on clothes even if we wanted too.
I came to the conclusion that a bunch of stuffy male executives wearing $1000 suits came up with that one. :-(

@@byebyedarkpassenger Chub Rub, AKA fire crotch, is why I have to pay extra for suits. For guys, the solution is to get your tailor to sew in a couple of triangles of cloth in the crotch of the trousers. These will absorb the brunt of the wear and tear and can then be removed and replaced as need be. I also get the inside pants liner so some of the friction is taken up there. The problem is that unless you go to a tailor who also makes suits the selection of material for those triangles is limited. The thicker the material or wool blend, the longer my pants' crotch survives.
    The alternative would be:

@@LousPeachy LOL. That makes about as much sense as putting the handicap parking at the farthest end of the parking lot 'cause they need the exercise. I remember taking my mom shopping and the look of terror on her face as she attempted the escalators when the elevators were broken. Her Parkinson's made it difficult for her to walk let alone take an escalator to get to the women's section on the third floor. If women do most of the shopping then why do they make them work for it? Is it cause they think they'll pickup a toy for the child and underwear for the husband?

LousPeachy got a reaction from blondebomb in Feeling like I am taking the easy way out :-/
At 67 and almost 385, oh how I wish I had taken the "easy way out"!! All these years of weighing almost 300 pounds (at my all time highest now), the pain, emotional and physical, embarrassment, wearing ugly clothes, physical limitations........everything. Even if I had it done 3 years ago when I was 85 pounds lighter. I can't believe I have been losing and gaining hundreds of pounds for so many years.
Take the steps now. It will NOT be easy for ANY of us young or old. It is far from taking the easy way out. It is taking necessary steps to improve and extend your life. DON'T miss out on those precious years that cannot be relived.

LousPeachy got a reaction from ogleland in WLS after hernia repair
I had major hernia surgery also. It was an open surgery. I also had gall bladder surgery with a HUGE incision. There were complications with that one. Plus, the hernia has torn out again. Lots to talk to the doctor about when I have my first appointment with him this Thursday.
From what I have read, they like to do hernia surgery AFTER WLS. I am also concerned about scar tissue. If worse comes to worse they can do WLS the open way so it will add another scar with more recovery time. But at 67, that's the least of my worries. :-)

I don't know if I should be sad or glad I have a 5 year history of obesity and failure of keeping off what I DID lose. I have plenty of proof I can't do this by myself. I wish I had looked into this two years ago (had the same insurance) and not have waited till I gained more weight...
Hope it all works out for you.

Although surgery is several months in the future, I decided that starting today I would CHEW CHEW CHEW my food. That is going to take some retraining since I have been inhaling my food for 67 years. Started out ok but without even realizing it, I inhaled most of it. (and actually didn't even taste most of it).
