@@carlaw I'm trying but I feel so terrible right now . Thankfully I only have to do this Pre op diet for a week . I'm allowed 3 Protein shakes , broth , sugar free Jello & sugar free Popsicles. I'm so hungry !

Hi All!

I wanted to start a thread for African-American sleevers (no worries I HEART all sleevers from the rainbow). I just thought, no scientific proof, that African-American sleevers may respond to the surgery different than our lovely non-African American sleeved sisters and brothers. I wanted to know if we had the same skin issue, hair problems, and other surgery related issues. Also, how to deal with the culture shock. African-American "soul food" may be something of the past... or not. So I was just looking for a space to voice culture related issues and concens.

PS- I TRULY :heart: ALL SLEEVERS.

Just got my date today July 15. Excited nervous...starting pre op monday.

Welcome to the club....almost! Your 50's are going to be amazing! I had mine done a couple of days after my 58th BD...am 62 now and loving life!!!

I had my first consultation a couple weeks before my 50th birthday. My insurance required a six month program. It was and still is one of the best things I've done for myself. I LOVE being fit and healthier in my fifties!
