AngelaWilliamsMD got a reaction from LipstickLady in Obesity! Will that word follow me to the grave :(
Your doctor didn't make a mistake. Your medical chart will always denote that obesity is a diagnosis, even if you are now thinner. The information is critical to know, especially if you're still living with chronic co-morbid conditions from being obese.

I drink beer but I have to pour it in a glass to get some of the bubbles out. Wine and sweet drinks give me terrible heart burn that's actually debilitating it's so painful. I do drink Vodka with diet cranberry juice or light orange juice and I love a bloody mary.
I had my first drink at about 3 months out when I was on vacation with my family. My experience was that I got super drunk, super fast from one small drink. I also sobered up pretty quickly.

I have a beer or three once a week or so. No big deal.

Not quite sure life is meant to be so... sterile. I don't drink but rarely myself but if I lived my life worrying about whether every thing I ever ate fit an ideal of nutritional value then I don't think it would be much of a life...

It's the 3 week stall, very well discussed on the board if you do a quick search.

I had a VSG on June 9, 2015 in Juarez. Dr. Rodriguez was my surgeon at Star Medica and I have absolutely no regrets. I'm down 40 pounds already.

That's unfortunate but obesity is still a relevant diagnosis, even if you are no longer obese!

Maybe in reality it is! But it undermines everything a person has worked so hard to change. To me when you change you are no longer who you were.
I did not go to him for this particular issue. I went for another.
I went to my Gynecologist and not once did she write obesity on the form she was filling out. I know I watched her fill it out.
When it is no longer relevant then put it in my file if you so chose. But not as a diagnosis that is not even there now!
If that is how it is supposed to be then there is a list of things that has happened to me that should be on that damn report then.
That word is horrid to me. I don't care what size a person is. I personally find that word repulsive!
Relevant or not it did not apply to this situation!

For my first drink (still two months away but I can dream!) I'm doing vodka and the SF crystal light flavorings. They have a strawberry lemonade and a toasted coconut that I think would be awesome with vodka. And vodka only has about 65 calories, no carbs, no sugar. Having a drink every now and then is no big deal! I already told my hubby (who will be my drinking buddy to make sure I'm good when I have that first drink) to make sure I don't eat anything I shouldn't. It's the food choices I made after the alcohol more so than the alcohol itself that made me gain weight. Good luck with your drink of choice!

I don't know that you need to worry more than you already should be. Just keep an eye out for any sign of infection around your incisions, which you should be doing anyway. Redness.... warm to the touch.....

Nice read, but they should've expanded the study for more valid result. I wouldn't recommend any drastic diet changes based off this just yet!

    1) Maybe- Mine really never changed just my appetite.
    2) Maybe- Mine disappeared for a good 6 months but it slowly comes back.
3)Maybe- It may be easy for you and you may very well still need to use a good amount of willpower to resist the urges.
See all those maybe's are because only time will tell. Nobody can give you a correct answer. Our bodies are all different. Good luck!

For the last 3 weeks I would go up and down about a pound on the scales. I got pretty bummed. I finally took it all out at the gym on my body on Monday. I walked on the treadmill at a pace of 4.0 and did two miles then I went to bikes and did another 4 miles. I was so worn out I came home and passed out. I woke up the next morning (Tuesday) and had lost a pound and half. Today I weighed myself again and had lost 0.8 lbs. I am now 10 lbs away from my first big reward of an hour massage!!! I can not wait till I hit the 199 mark!!! I have not felt this good, energetic, and happy in years. I have already gotten rid of all my fat clothes and just bought some leggings until I can get down to closer to where I want to be. As an added bonus, my hubby was rubbing my shoulders yesterday and said "you have nothing here anymore, it is all bone" which made me feel good also!!! I can finally see the changes in my body after losing 50 lbs!!
BTW: surgery was on June 15
    Starting weight 260
    Surgery weight 245
    Today 210

AngelaWilliamsMD reacted to Shellbell619 in So tired of people saying you dont need surgery!
I have had so many people that say you dont need surgery. Or even people that say you're taking the easy way out. UMMM by reading what I have read so far about this surgery...it is not the easy way out! I wish people realized what all I will have to go thru. And I absolutely need this surgery, if not for my health, for my sanity. I cannot stand the person I have become. Cant find anything to wear, my closet full of cute clothes dont fit, I have gained 50 lbs in 10 months, cant bend down to shave my legs for crying out loud, dont want to have sex with hubby of 20 years, I cut my hair off because I am too lazy to fix it, out of breath, dont want to go to parties or summer events involving bathing suit.....the NEED for surgery is crutial to my mental well being. I feel so excited about my surgery and I want to shout it to the roof tops. Then when I do I get this reaction. What a bummer! People are so mean some times.
