Had no clue you had sleep apnea?
Yes, I did find out through the sleep study. I had no idea that I had it. I will tell you that I had the best sleep every once I got my CPAP. It is self regulated.

Switch to RNY? Due to Hernia/Reflux
My dr told me she would not approve me for RNY due to anemia and other vitamin deficiencies. I had to be cleared by my neuro to make sure they were all on the same page. So, I think that lines up with how you're feeling. Are you able to get a second opinion? The sleeve can be done as an open procedure thought they don't like doing it. I had my galbladder removed not any hernia issues. So, that part, I'm not familiar with.

Had a veggie burger and it was awesome
I have a friend who is a vegetarian and insists that I try one. All the ones she buys are pre-packaged in the freezer section. So, I'm curious to know if there are other options. I may try them.

PRE-OP LIQUID DIET CHEATER
Does your center allow you access to a therapist that does specialize in food issues? The one that did my psych eval comes to our clinic to help out. He is from his own practice. I think it is so different of a subject and sensitive so maybe you could ask your nurse. Possibly they offer a modified diet? I know it wouldn't include McD. But to be honest, about a month before surgery, I went all out for the breakfast sausage there. I think it can be a natural reaction to knowing the change is coming. I had to make myself let it go. I could have it, but not the McMuffin. Just adjusting how I was eating out made a big difference. As far as the liquid part, I had to change to different things. I was full liquid post op. I had 2 shakes and 1 small meal for my pre-op diet. Which they changed on me when giving it to me, I too thought it would be full liquids. And shockingly, I was only 1 lb off of where she told me to be when I showed up. Every dr is diff. But maybe there's a diff way they could help you through or better understanding of how to pull yourself through those difficult moments. You've come so far. Just have patience with yourself. And when you're ready, then move forward.

Having a period right before surgery?
My clinic said it didn't matter. I was worried about the same thing happening. They said most of the time the surgery will cause it to start so to bring pads.

This diet seems like BS and I am pouting
Thanks for actually trying to acknowledge what I was asking. I am on the all liquids diet now until next Thursday when I go to purees. The liquids are driving me absolutely crazy. I don't believe I'm experience acidity because I'm on a regular antacid already. It is almost definitely partially head hunger, but my abdomen is rumbling and grumbling and my stomach is doing that squeezing thing it does when you're super hungry, which then also makes me feel nauseous. I just don't feel like I'm getting enough in and all I'm eating is Protein. I figure if I have to eat something, it may as well be protein. If I'm going to drink Water, it may as well be Isopure, for example. I AM following the program, and I want to kill everyone. I just want to know when the real light at the end of the tunnel is, because I do not believe this piece of paper I have is it. I believe that when I talk to my doctor and dietician I will get confirmation of that based on everything I've read and the other patient I talked to, but I was wondering what the forum thought and I'm mostly just getting "shut up and listen to your doctor"... I am also on a medicine for stomach spasms. That's what it sounds like you're describing here. I can relate to wanting other things. Seriously, I just want to chew beef sticks. Is that good, probably not. But I am only allowed to have cream Soups til next Monday. Then to purees. The liquid was hard. But I mixed things up to make it easier on me. Just figured out if I warm the soy milk a little then I can get my protein in better. I'm still working toward that 64 ozs. Def the hardest few weeks.

Weight gain at barely 2 weeks post op
Love the step away from the scale!

Blank Stares.
Before I went in for surgery, I had so many people at work stop me. It became a little uncomfortable as some I didn't actually associate with. I feel that some things come on a more personal level that others can't seem to understand. I am not excited about returning in a week. I hope it mellows out for you. One thing they told me to expect was lost friendships. I don't know how prepared I am for that.

How soon after surgery are you supposed to start LOSING?!?
I had lost 11lbs at my 1 week appt. was shocked!

Tomorrow's THE day!

Tomorrow marks one week post op! Purée food ideas?
I don't get to have purees til week 4. But I honesty did canned chicken, measured it then put it into little containers and froze it. I have pureed carrots/ broccoli/ cauliflower. I was told to cook veggies before pureeing if you are not freezing. Or canned, it'll be easier on sleeve. I'm counting down til Thurs to have creamed soups!

Protein water
No, I thought about buying it though because there was a coupon for it. From what I know now, it probably just tastes like adding protein to water and I'd prefer to stick with Isopure.

I've got my Date Oct. 19, Anyone close to that?
I'm doing ok. Can't wait til the week is up so I can go outside. Though I'm nervous it may be cold by then. I'm down 5lbs. Still fighting to get fluids in. My program is all liquid first 10 days. 1 oz every 15mins. I don't think I've ever been so excited to anticipate cream soup next week lol. I just added a protein drink starting yesterday. Going ok. Glad everyone is doing well!

Desperate for a Buddy (10/22)
I am being sleeved tomorrow. I am excited and nervous all in one! I have 3 different kinds of shakes going in. But I know I'll be cutting out the GNC lean 25 for a bit til I can have more calories. I have French vanilla and banana in that one. I have unjury Vanilla and chicken Soup Unjury. I also have Isopure Zero Carb Apple Melon and Pineapple/Orange/Banana. I want to try the Isopure Lemonade but can only get that one online. Best wishes for you. Prayers for patience!

I've got my Date Oct. 19, Anyone close to that?
I'm thankful my dr did 2 shakes and one meal for only 1 week. They told me it'd be all liquid for 2 wks in the book. But found out that it's different for everyone. Hold on! We are almost there.!

Bummed and angry
Best of luck! I think it's normal. Enjoyed reading everyone's threads. I am having surgery on Monday and have felt a lot of these emotions today. So, know that you are not alone. Not so much of feeling like I'll never eat again, but will I do this right?

OMG how in the hell do people drink this?!?
I did not like the Orange flavor at all! But I read somewhere that it is random to which flavor people will like and to still try a different one. I love the Apple Melon and the Pineapple Banana ones. I hope that will stay the same post op!
