  1. Hey guys, I was sleeved on 1/20 and am approaching my first month as a sleever. i was sleeved at Montefiroe with Dr. Choi. Loved the experience. Hope to talk to other Bronx sleevers and maybe help keep each other on track. I know i need help every now and then.

Don't you just love Dr Choi?! How are you coming along?

  2. Hi Phat :)

I TOTALLY relate to your struggle with Protein powders. I'm only 11 days post op but will share what's helped me. I bought a bunch of samples from Nashua Nutrition.

    http://www.nashuanutrition.com/store/protein-powders/protein-powder-samples-1-serving.html

I'm just learning to refrigerate the shake for at least 20 minutes before drinking it. I'm also using soy milk. So far the three shakes I've had are actually not bad.

I've also bought Soups that have 15 grams of Protein and they're very drinkable when doctored up with spices.

In preparation for my next phase "Soft", I've gotten oatmeal with no sugar and 15 gr protein. If it's disgusting, I'll switch to be favorite irish steel oats and add, SF maple Syrup, applesauce and protein powder. Feedback I've seen on the protein oatmeal is the consistency is pretty bad.

Looking to yogurt and cottage cheese :)

    Good luck to you!!

Tomorrow i start solids thank god! Lol I've been on eggs and stuff buy now it's time to incorporate real food! I've been waiting for this. Hopefully i can get more protein in.

Thank you so much! Please feel free to post whatever you can. I just received my Protein Shots. I just opened one and smelled it. Bad idea. Lol. The flavor i got is fruit punch and i could basically smell the Protein Powder. I've yet to taste it though. I refrigerated it hoping it'll help the taste.

Ohhh and I'm familiar with the Bariatric Pal Store, that's where i got the shots from.

  4. Some ppl realize, once you have your surgery and getting to goal and staying there. .. ppl live. Not just on sugar free, fat free and lite stuff only. Ppl become less rigid. It's really hard to explain if you haven't been there yet. But you can become lax to a point. @@SAD HATTER is right. That happens. But. . Eating bread at 3 weeks out is insane. Smh

  5. One of my close friends had gastric bypass 5 years ago. Most people in our circle of friends only acted supportive to her face. They would tell everyone her business, gossip about her, judge her. These are her best friends! She lost 150 pounds. She is beautiful. Most people are jealous and still talk behind her back. 5 years later gastric bypass still defines her. ..even if she doesn't realize the whispers/snide remarks. People call her anorexic and judge everything she eats still. She also gets those snide compliments. "You look great, you're so lucky you got gastric bypass" "I wish I could lose weight by doing nothing" "oh sweetie you look like you are starving to death"

Every time she is sick gastric bypass is to blame. So I almost laugh when someone says everyone is supportive....I still think people just pretend. I moved away and am not in this circle of friends anymore. When I go visit they STILL talk about her "she looks like she is gaining weight"

My husband knows and one child knows I had the sleeve. I will never tell anyone else. I'm looking out for myself only, not giving everyone something to talk about. ......just my experience and opinion :)

That is horrible! And ya know what it doesn't surprise me. That is why only family knows. Was considering telling once I'm on the road to great success but this gives me pause. I'm doing the right thing.

I'm OK. I had a rough cpl days in the hospital because i had had a small cold before surgery. So i had a bit of phlegm. After surgery i had bad retching and nausea. Lasted about 3 days but eventually went home. Pain was never really bad just sore, felt like i was punched and kicked in the stomach. But all good. My weight loss has been better now than when i had the band. Day of surgery on Nov 16th i Was 332lbs as of today I'm 303. I'm proud of it.

  7. Hi guys! I'm new to Bariatric Pals. I had surgery November 25, 2015 at Montefiore Medical Center. I believe I might be suffering from a hunger headache but I'm doing my best to keep up with liquid diet.

Hey! I had conversion band to bypass surgery also at Montefiore medical center in the Bronx! My surgeon was Dr Choi. Yours? Mr surgery was Nov 16th. Would you like to chat?

  8. Anyone else was catheterized during surgery and for the whole first day post op? Or just me? Thankfully i didn't have a drain.

I was catheterized during surgery and it was taken out before I woke up. However, I had to be catheterized 2 times post-op because I couldn't urinate on my own. Good times. lol.
Oh yikes Fatty! ???????? i can't imagine. Them removing it was an experience in itself. Smh
