    Eggdrop Soup, better than broth.

Problem with egg drop soup (or hot & sour soup which is my preference) is that the thickener is usually a starch. Tapioca, corn, or something like that. By it's very nature starch is all carbohydrate. Corn startch is about 90% simple carbs.

    Just don't care

Oh it happens all the time. Hell, I know I have done it a time or two for the exact same reason mentioned above. The thread title doesn't state women only thread on tapatalk or the trending topics. Most times it is addressed as no harm, no foul. It's nothing to get worked up over.
  3. Oh hell yes, I would totally post in The Humidor. Make it happen. As for the powder room nom de guerre, it's only sexist if a man named it. And as Alex said, it was created by the women. Why does everything have to come down to offense? Can't we just say it would be nice to update the name and leave it at that? Sent from my phone. Please forgive brevity and spelling.

    F*ck the foamies

The foamies are usually associated with dumping syndrome. Though if the sauce was low fat, I don't know why you would dump. The only thing you can do is walk and wait for it to pass. If it turns into an awful trip to the bathroom, that would pretty much clinch it that it is dumping syndrome and something you ate was too rich in fat or sugar.

    Carbs!

Guys, you are missing out on a very important piece of information. The Tecno-W3 in a phone sold in Nigeria. This guy could be the Nigerian prince we've all heard so much about over the years.

    Craving pickle juice

Yeah that was me, and while that is a pretty close quote, I am sure there is something out there that has a higher acidity level than our stomach acid, but you would have to look for it in a specialty store. Things like capsaicin extract. In regards to pickle juice, if you have low levels of stomach acid causing acid reflux, vinegar is a common household remedy. If drinking pickle juice is out of the ordinary for you, it could be a sign of mild pica (craving weird or inedible substances). It's caused by mineral deficiencies. That can be easily verified with your normal blood work.

    Am I behind. I think I'm behind

This is always the elephant in the room. You never truly know people on a forum. Some people just crave the attention because they receive none in the real world.

    Rotator cuff tear experience?

I had a head on collision with a semi in 1992. Broke both my wrists, ankles, knock out most of my teeth, compression injury to my heart, and severe trauma to my back. It took my 3 months to walk with a walker and another year to walk unaided. I had rotator cuff surgery and bone spur removal on my collar bone in 2007. The recovery from the rotator cuff and collar bone were the worse pain I have ever felt. Coughing or sneezing would reduce me to a gibbering, sobbing mess. It was truly incredibly painful. I cannot tell you if it was the removal or bone spurs or the cleaning of the rotator cuff that caused the pain. However, I will say that it was totally worth it. That shoulder is now my good one. Follow their PT instructions to the letter! I was off work for 8 weeks. Exercise was not even a consideration for me. The pain was far and away too much. Now, before you become frightened. A very good friend of mine owns a garage and he is a master mechanic. He had rotator cuff surgery and his bicep reattached. Similar to my surgery but muscle complication instead of bone. His surgery was on a Friday, the following Wednesday he was back at work using just one arm and not taking pain killers. EIther he is a freak of nature or I am an incredible wuss.

    Got Bad News

Thank you for posting that! People rarely just come out and say, "you know what? I just loved eating!" It's usually medication or disease or something that makes it not their fault. Usually the same people are just so damned desperate for attention they will keep threads going on and on long after they have served their purpose.

    Got Bad News

ehh.... well... kinda sorta. Insulin resistance can lead to Type 2 diabetes, but not all Type 2 diabetics are insulin resistant. With a person that is resistant to insulin, the pancreas tries to keep up by producing more insulin so that the liver, muscles, and fat can absorb the glucose from the bloodstream. As long as it can produce enough insulin to overcome the resistance, blood glucose levels stay in the healthy range. In an obese person, there are a lot more cells that need insulin and it falls short leading to increased blood glucose levels. A type 2 diabetic who just doesn't produce enough insulin for a 40 BMI will be given metformin or something like that. After gastric surgery, the BMI can go down to a level that the amount of insulin produced is sufficient to metabolized the glucose in the bloodstream. However, that does not mean their pancreas will continue to produce enough the rest of their life. They may return to metformin at a later date. Hence they are not "cured" of diabetes. Here is a pretty good link to describe it better than I: https://www.niddk.nih.gov/health-information/diabetes/overview/what-is-diabetes/prediabetes-insulin-resistance

    No Flavor Protein Powder

The only problem with collagen protein is that it is worthless. Not in the same way that Genepro is, but because of the incomplete amino acids and the low bio-availability of collagen protein specifically. It's so common, it's what jell-o is made from.
  13. Call his bluff. Make him seriously think about what it would mean if he divorced you for medical reasons. I am pretty sure you would take him to the cleaners financially. Don't appeal to his emotions, show him how it will cost half of his possessions, retirement, and a good chunk of his income. Texas is a "Fair & Just" divorce state. That doesn't necessarily mean a 50/50 split. He may want to think before he opens his mouth again.

    Got Bad News

katkatlady612 - Good question. Yes diabetes is a medical condition; and I am one of those people who no longer has to take medication for my blood sugar, blood pressure, and cholesterol. Most obese Type II diabetics will benefit from the surgery because diet has such a huge influence on it. If you were insulin dependent, you may step down to metformin, if you were on metformin you might come off completely. However, if you are a Type I diabetic pre-op, you will still be one post op. Bariatric surgery does not cure these conditions, but it does make managing them much easier.
  15. Even if he was, he is less than 3 months out. Everyone will lose weight during the honeymoon phase. He's just missing out on the easiest time to make changes in food relationships and habits. It happens over and over on this forum. He'll fade away when the loss stops and it becomes real work. They all do.

    Got Bad News

I have some bad news for you. No bariatric surgery will cure your medical issues. All it will do is force you to eat less for about a year. Sure, there may be some palette changes, or maybe dairy will suddenly become difficult to digest causing lactose intolerance, or you may develop gerd; but for the most part the surgery doesn't change a person medically speaking. Only the medical conditions brought on by poor diet will be affected by bariatric surgery. (e.g. High BP, diabetes, cholesterol, etc...) Unless there is a medical condition with the stomach itself, there is nothing that bariatric surgery will cure that diet alone could not as well. The surgery and subsequent honeymoon phase help cement new food habits.

    dark colored urine

Bingo! B12 or a B complex will give you freakishly bright yellow urine.
  18. I am not good at mushy support, so please read everything I say as advice and not "tough love", for that is not my intent. You are only lacking in one thing; determination. Support is nice, and motivation makes it easier; but doing something that is hard and something that you don't really want to do takes determination. I get it, you're tired at the end of the day. Or you don't want to get up early in the morning. Or you want to spend lunch time unwinding. You don't want to go to the gym because it is intimidating. Someone might look at you, laugh at you, or think something derogatory. Someone will be better at yoga or there will be a group of friends already there and you will feel excluded. All excuses. Make a resolution to do the things that are uncomfortable but necessary. Your boyfriend doesn't want to go? Leave him home. No friends to meet at yoga? Make new ones with the people that are there by showing your determination to do these things. I can come up with a laundry list of things that I would/could/should be doing besides exercising. I frequently go to bed at midnight because the time after work is taken up by parents, in-laws, and teenage daughters. But after 20+ years of making excuses led me to poor health. Weigh your food, log your food, make it habit. Make your accountability be its own reward. Don't let the little things distract you from the one thing that is most important. Your health.
  19. I remember about a year post op I was with a large group of family and the easiest option was a buffet. I showed them my bariatric card, but they said they do not make concessions. No problem, I'll pay for a to-go buffet trip and eat that. They said that was fine. I loaded that SOB up with so much meat it wasn't funny. Then I sat with family and picked at their plates. Later on we all nibbled on my to-go order.

Now that surprises me. Two men that have hit on me we pretty damn smooth. Actually took me a moment to realize what had transpired. Others were just clumsy. But I never felt creeped out by the men.

    Before and After Pics

The young women are not creepy about it, just blunt and forward. The women my age or older make me very uncomfortable. A confident woman is sexy, a woman who looks at you like a predator looks at prey? Uncomfortable. I've had my wife or kids come save me when a woman in the neighborhood comes around.
