SassyC4 got a reaction from Josey Quinn in Before And After Gastric Sleeve Surgery Photos
I had gastric sleeve surgery 2 months ago. I've lost 42 lbs on my 6 month pre op diet and 35 lbs since surgery, 77 total since I started in April! I'm off of all of the meds already, I have a ton of energy and I'm sleeping like a baby!

SassyC4 got a reaction from Dub in Before And After Gastric Sleeve Surgery Photos
My insurance required me to diet and exercise for 6 months. I had to see my PCP once a month and document my progress. Most people see their NUT I think.

SassyC4 got a reaction from KenBuzz in Vomiting blood
I'm asking if anyone else out there has vomited blood while I wait for the PA. I'm a patient person, just looking for some helpful info in the meantime ???? I'm sorry if I was unclear. Good luck on your journey! ????

SassyC4 got a reaction from KenBuzz in Vomiting blood
Sorry for the gross subject guys, but I need some help. I'm 2 months post gastric sleeve now. I forgot to take my morning dose of Vitamins (Gastric Multi-Vitamin, Actigall, Omeprazole, Biotin) this morning so I took them 30 minutes after I ate lunch. I waited to long and had to run to the bathroom. This happens occasionally and I've become mostly "used to it" now. But this is the first time I've had blood in my vomit so I called my surgeons office. Her reaction was a gasp and then "Oh no!" The PA is back in the office tomorrow and they will have her call me.
In the meantime, I figured I would ask you guys: have any of you had this issue or know someone who has? Am I worried over nothing? Her silly reaction has got me wondering. ????

SassyC4 reacted to BritAbroad in Can't sleep - worried I've made the wrong decision
Hi everyone,
I just wanted to send a quick update. Surgery (eventually) went ahead yesterday afternoon and I'm back home now, in some discomfort but generally feeling good.
On reflection, now that it's done, I would say sleevy wonder was right - although admin was a complete mess from day 1, my surgeons skill was never in question and in fact both surgeons came in to apologize to me for all of the errors and said that it should never have happened.
So, now it's time to heal and get on with the next chapter of my life!
As always, thank you for your replies. Having these forums is a godsend!!

SassyC4 reacted to lovelylala in Did anybody get surgery only letting minimal people know?
I'm about to start the process, my insurance gives hoops to jump through , and I have my first appointment with a surgeon next week. It will be probably at least 6 months before I can get a surgery date. My fiancé is unbelievably supportive, but I'm too embarrassed to tell anybody at work, and I know my siblings and parents will think I'm being extreme and should just try harder on my own. I have lost 80 pounds on my own in the past but it came back with bonus weight. Did anybody have their surgery without telling their families ?

SassyC4 reacted to Radar in I am having HUGE regrets... that I didn't get this done sooner!
About 16 years ago, I was legally blind in one eye and the other one wasn't very good either. I couldn't wear contacts because I had a severe astigmatism but also because I just can't put my finger in my eye. I was wearing coke bottle glasses and I'd have to feel around for them every morning when I woke up like Velma on Scooby Doo. I had thought about getting corrective laser surgery on my eyes, but I was scared of all the things that could go wrong. I live in California... what if there was an earthquake when the laser was on my eye? What if it hurts a lot. What if they mess up and I lose what little vision I still have? What if... what if... what if. I am always thinking about things like this and have a lot of sleepless nights.
One day I finally decided that if I'm going to be blind anyway, I may as well have a few years of decent vision before it happens. When I did it, I had 20/20 vision for the first time in my life. I wanted to kick my own butt for not doing it sooner. It was like a miracle.
Now, 16 years later, I kept telling myself I was just not strong enough and I failed to lose weight in every diet because I lacked dedication or heart. I got the gastric sleeve done on September 21st and I'm down 45 pounds in 7 weeks and counting.
The AMAZING thing is since the day after my surgery I have not taken a single bit of my medicines. No insulin, and no pills for diabetes, high blood pressure, cholesterol, etc. and I've been checking my blood pressure and blood sugar every day and it's at about 110. Prior to the surgery, even with insulin and pills, I could never get my blood sugar below 200. This is equally miraculous as when my vision was corrected in a single day and I am equally kicking my own butt for not doing this sooner. I suffered for so long needlessly. The bulk of my medical problems were fixed in one day!!!
I have to stop being afraid and just do what's best for my health and I hope you will learn from my example so you can avoid the suffering I went through.
I can't describe how happy I am.
Obviously the surgery isn't magic and losing weight and keeping it off requires a lot of discipline, exercise, planning, control, and will power, but I'm thrilled that I am having money I would have spent on meds, and I'm saving money on food. I'm buying better and more expensive food, but I eat a lot less of it. I am also spending a bit more on fitness related stuff like my new FitBit Charge HR.
Anyway, I am just having tons of regret, and I think a lot of you do too.
