alindsey reacted to PMJ in BMI 31-32
Starting BMI 34/201lbs, so had to self pay (my bathroom remodel can wait) still happy with decision. Exercise is really key to all of this, Protein and Water. In 2.5 wks have lost 16 lbs. got on scale today, better than any loss I have had before. As long as I stay on track and hopefully continue 2lbs (if lucky 3 a week) would be fantastic!
Best to you all…either way it's all going in the right direction. HAPPY

I am 6 days post op today. Feeling much better than the last two days. I can drink up to 4 oz very slowly and carefully, but have to be careful not to over do it. Each day really does improve drastically. I actually went out to get a few things from the store this morning. And I havent had to use pain meds for two days now. I wouldnt say 100% normal but at least 45% right now. I just don't want to rush things cause Lord knows it took years for me to get here so time will get me back to good health.

I was able to return to work 1 week post op but I have a very sedentary job. I was able to shop and take short walks at this time. I did not completely feel normal and back to pre op energy levels til week 5.

I am six days post op today. Taking a couple of walks a day and am getting about 90 ounces of Fluid in per day. My stomach did not like the chewable Vitamin so I am going to ask my Dr. at my appointment tomorrow for another vitamin suggestion.

I could fake it pretty well at 2 weeks -- and did feel better.
But I was OK at one month out.
Hubby and I canceled a cruise we'd scheduled for 2 months post-op. By the time I was 2 months out I realized I could have TOTALLY gone on that cruise with no problem.
Oh,well ....

I'm 5 days post op and I've had no real issues. Was up and around day after surgery. Also able to drink all the Protein Shakes prescribed with no difficulty. I cut out the pain mess a couple days ago and while sore it's not unmanageable. I guess it's just different for everybody. Looking forward to soft foods next week. Good luck.

alindsey reacted to Debbieduck4 in Artificial sweeteners?
Yes, do! It's my cheaper homemade version of Starbucks iced Passion tea I did okay with the sugar free Jello and sugar free Popsicles during Clear Liquids phase... I don't know if it's because we're eating such a small amount at that time or what, but now I just eat a little real sugar or Stevia when I want a treat. I just keep it to a minimum. Mostly I'm a fruit lover though when I'm craving something sweet, a smoothie made with Greek yogurt, ice, almond milk, stevia. banana, and frozen blueberries is so delish too!

Isn't the artificial sweeteners in crystal light and sugar free Jello etc.... bad for you? Don't they cause more cravings? I know they cause me to have headaches. Is there a way to do the clear liquid phase without artificial sweeteners?

Have you tried Stevia? I also get migraines... and Crystal Light will set one off with just one glass of it! Artificial sweetners for some reason really trigger headaches in me, but Stevia does not. I buy Tazzo Passion fruit tea bags and steep a couple, then mix with stevia and Water for a really refreshing, tasty drink. Sometimes I add lemon too!

alindsey reacted to Cujucuyo in How bad is the hunger?
Yup. Though I mistakenly said "in water", they're marinated in some sort of acidic broth, probably lemon or vinegar; you can scoop out a few spoonfuls, add some of the liquid they come in then add some Tomato paste or ketchup and you have yourself a mini-cocktail. They're soft, so they're easy to chew/digest and provide good Protein.

My date is June 8th as well. I gave up caffeine as well as pop(soda) back in November as well as stopped drinking with meals. My surgery was postponed back in march when they discovered I had type 2 diabetes but have since gotten my sugars under control and have been put on a cancellation list. So hoping I get a call sooner than June 8th. I'm ready now!! Good luck and keep reading these post on here. I find it very comforting as people seem to be very open and honest about the good and the bad experiences they have had so I feel very prepared.

alindsey reacted to virgogirl67 in Come on June 8th
@@alindsey June 2nd here and I am ridiculously excited. Right now I'm in the "try it before you buy it" stage...or should I say try it before investing in a 60lb tub of it. LOL Two months ago I started "training" myself to like yogurt and that has been going very well. I started with the yummy whipped sugary and have worked my way to down to plain greek yogurt with a bit of flavored crystal light powder stirred it. It has become a "habit" now and I can now relax about greek yogurt being a part of my daily menu...without wanting to gag!
I'm working through some powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury packets that I bought to try...and they are tasty and mix up beautifully. I really like the chicken flavored broth! I'm also working through some Syntax nectar flavor samples...Fuzzy Navel is yum yum yummy!
I want to make sure I make it through the pre/post-op liquid stage without having to think too much. I just want to be able to go to my kitchen and know whatever I grab to pour in me tastes good. I'm not waiting to be in the middle of it to have to figure it out!

I get headaches from the artificial sweeteners but sometimes I just deal with it cause it's gotta be done. I like the little squirt bottle of drink mixers. They have artificial sweeteners but taste like regular sugar and they come in many different brands/flavors.
Oh you should also check out coconut sugar, great alternative.

alindsey reacted to Cujucuyo in How bad is the hunger?
In my case I have hunger every few hours, however I just eat sparingly due to my restriction. For example today all I had was 2 1/2 Jumbo, panko breaded shrimps for lunch, 1 snack sized bag of Doritos as a snack 3-4 hours later and some mussles in lemon/tomato along with 1/4 of a chicken breast for dinner.
I keep several bottles of mussles in Water to munch into if I get hungry but I don't want to cook, usually I'll just eat 2 spoonfuls and that'll keep me going.
I'm 6 weeks out.

alindsey reacted to Stephanie Stroup McIntosh in How bad is the hunger?
I am 4 weeks post op and very rarely feel the need to eat. I notice that if I go 5-6 hours without having something, then i will feel some hunger pains and feel a little weak. I just try to make myself stay on a schedule, otherwise it will be 9pm and I would have only had a Protein shake.
The more you can detox before surgery the better. Stop sugar and caffeine now. That way when you come out of surgery, you won't even want it.

My daughter and I are both having our sleeve surgery in Mexico June 2nd. I love the idea that we are doing this together and will be able to support each other through this whole process. Best of luck to you and your mom!
