carrie3101 got a reaction from Deactivatedfatgal in Can't lose weight!
    Hi Erin!
Wishing you all the best on your journey. I was also diagnosed with PCOS. I had the sleeve about a year and a half ago and was able to lose around 140 pounds, slowly. Unfortunately, I have found that my body is quite different and so my calories needs are much lower to lose. So, on average, I aim for about 800 calories a day, with at least 70 grams of Protein. I work out about 6 hours a week, running and swimming. This has helped me steadily lose about 1.5 pounds a week. I have friends eating 1500 and losing much more than me, but with PCOS the struggle is REAL. The sad fact is, we just don't lose like everyone else. I'm here if you have any other specific questions. You can do it!
    Best,
    Carrie

This was an issue a lot for me in the beginning because I frequently went to work dinners. Soup and stews really saved me, since no one can really tell how much soup you actually eat. I'm not sure if you're allowed salad yet, but that's always really good because you can pick on it all night and no one can tell how much you've actually eaten.

I'm a year and a half out and have diet coke regularly. For the first few months, the carbonation bothered me because I felt like it was always on the verge of coming back up, but around month 6, it started to feel a lot better.

You still didn't post your calories, Protein, or carbs. Those number matter.
Give up the toast. Give up Peanut Butter. It is calorie dense with not enough nutritional value to justify it.
The Protein Bars and shakes are giving you too many carbs probably. Protein bars are a really fake food. They are made with so many chemicals, that alone might be your stall right there. I try to have no more than 2 a week and only in an emergency.
Give up the protein bars and the shakes.
Have dense protein for Snacks. Steak, chicken, pork chops cut into strips.
Do you weigh and measure all of your food? Everything even Condiments?
If you aren't weighing your food and tracking it, you are just guessing.

Everyone is different. Carbonation doesn't "hurt" me anymore than anything else does when I drink it, but honestly, I've had sips of soda three times, and 3 or 4 beers, in the six months since I had my surgery. I can never finish a beer- I can't finish a 4oz. taster. I am a cheap date these days! Also... I know it's said a LOT, but the carbonation in a few sips of beer or soda will NOT stretch anything. Your insides are made of WAY stronger stuff!!
The real issue here is addressing why people want to resume old, bad habits (sugary-drinks, empty calories, etc.) and eat around their surgery. It's one thing to decide to have a small drink occasionally to be sociable, sip at it slowly, stop when you can and not finish it, as opposed to longing for your old favorites and wondering how soon you can start drinking again.

You may not be eating enough. Especially if you are exercising.
My surgeon wants her patients during their main weightloss phase to be 900-1200 cals/day. I just had my metabolic rate tested, and my RMR has dropped as I've been well under 800 cals/day for a lot of the past three months. My RMR says I shouldn't have less than 1290 cals/day or shut my metabolism further.
    Something to think about!

    Guys,
Thank you so much for your kindness and motivation. It really helps to know that people who have been successful have also struggled. I usually love my sleeve, I'm glad I did it, I'm just worried I'm failing it.

Stalls are a normal and natural part of ANY weight loss process. Two weeks is not a long stall. I know it's frustrating when you are putting in the work and the numbers aren't showing on the scale, but trust me, that work WILL pay off in the end. You need to remember that your sleeve is forever. This is not a "diet" and you will never be done. How quickly you lose the weight is irrelevant in the grand scheme of things once you are at goal, maintain, and living a happy, healthy life.
The rate of loss is unique to the individual. I was a "slow" loser by all accounts, but I still reached my goal. And I promise you that after a few months in maintenance, I couldn't care less that it took me longer to get here than most other people. Hang in there, trust in your plan, do the work, and you WILL succeed.

Thanks so very much for your answers everyone! I'm so relieved that it's not hopeless to find restaurant food to eat. And thank you to those who are saying that people aren't going to be looking that closely. I sometimes forget that no one is really paying too much attention while everyone is chatting.
(Also, while I appreciate the advice, I see no reason why I should share something like this with other people if I don't want to. Having this surgery is an intensely personal choice, and I am choosing to keep it that way. Thanks!)
