Accurate bmi calculator
If it is that you need to be 40.000000 for insurance to qualify, then look into if you have any comorbidities (sleep apnea, high BP, pre-diabetic, etc.), the qualifying BMI should be lower. Insurance will use their formula, which may be a generic one. The amount of muscle vs fat (a professional weight lifter may have a high BMI but has high muscle mass), whether it is a man or a woman, body frame size, etc. need to be taken into effect. I agree with Dub, you could hedge it a little bit, but the surgeon may require you to lose some weight prior to surgery, which is actually a good thing from a surgical and a personal standpoint. Get your surgeon on board with your insurance company to work it out so you know where you stand. Good luck.

anyone feel like they need restapling
Yeah, maybe stapling my mouth shut. I have a tool, the VSG. I control the destiny of how much I eat and the choices. Lately, I have been making some bad ones. I plan on getting back to basics, that will work much better than re-stapling a stomach since you can defeat weight loss with an even smaller stomach if you don't. We can do it!

Mediterranean Style Eating
"Weiner selfies"? I guess one has to be from the North East or into Politics to get this. Sorry. ("Weiner" as in Anthony Weiner, the former Representative from N.Y.. Although the other way fits too - pun intended).

You must be angry. You kept hitting the colon and asterisk keys by mistake.

Mediterranean Style Eating
I am a card carrying member of PETA (People Eating Tasty Animals). I try to eat lean cuts of meat, mostly chicken breast or ground chicken or turkey. There is nothing wrong if someone wants to practice a vegetarian diet. They should just make sure they get their appropriate daily intake of Protein from non "dead bodies of helpless, slaughtered animals".

Vision Changes Post WLS
Did anyone experience fairly moderate changes to their eyesight post WLS after they lost a considerable amount of their excess body weight? When I went to the optometrist, my prescription changed fairly significantly (No, it isn't due to internet porn ). I asked if the pressure on the eye could have changed due to either losing weight or blood pressure lowering, he said no. I was just thinking in terms of the eye focusing the light on the retina, if the focal point changed due to the curvature of the lens, maybe that could possibly explain it. Either that or it was 2 years between optometrist visits and maybe my prescription would have changed regardless. He went to medical school, I didn't.

Do WLS patients ultimately go back to eating anything?
Quick answer: Yes.3 Some people with the bypass may experience "dumping syndrome" as some people with the sleeve may end up with "heartburn" from certain foods. Outside of that most people can eat the same foods they ate before the surgery. Given that, we need to change how we eat as much as much as how much we can eat. This is a lifetime commitment requiring a lifestyle change. If people after WLS continue to eat junk food all the time and don't follow a recommended dietary plan, they can gain the weight back. Not all calories are created equal (The U.S. Constitution only guarantees that all people are). We all need to make healthy choices (an occasional treat is ok, healthier choices of occasional treats are even better).

Stretched Sleeve
the more u type...the more you sound so in need of a woman . You almost typed a proper English sentence. I am so proud of you. Yeah! Good for you! I know that is quite an accomplishment without having opposable thumbs. I already have a woman, thank you for the offer, but I only copulate with my own species. I am not upset by your troll writings. Sorry. It's funny how "HushXPuppyX" (or whatever his name is) stops writing as a troll then suddenly you appear new here with all of your 7 posts as replies here. Please go back to under the bridge, or wherever you came from and have a great day.

Fear of not waking up!
The long term health aspects of obesity are far worse than the chance of something going wrong while under anesthesia. Let the surgical team know your concerns ahead of time, they will accommodate you and keep you relaxed. Maybe you can meet with the anesthesiologist before the surgery to talk to them for a few minutes to put your mind at ease?

Funny Weight Related Pictures
@@Dub @@4MRB4PHOTO Can y'all explain to me how to get a picture in the post vs a thumbnail? Thanks! I just went to Google Images (other search engines work too), typed in the phrase, clicked on the image, then right clicked and copied the image then pasted it in the post (depending upon the image type, it may not work, so I then would go click on the View Image" button to the right of the image, go to the image page and copy & paste it from there. The images vary in pixel sizes, some pictures may be quite large. There are other ways to do this, but this is down and dirty -just the way I like it.

After sleeve surgery in June 2015 my A1c went from 6.3 to 11. Why? Is pancreas involved?
Speak to your endocrinologist or PCP, maybe they would want you retested. Perhaps it is a false high? For example, an Iron deficiency and certain meds could cause the numbers to be elevated.

- Your favorite scale?
My favorite scale is any one that measures the lowest wieght.- How long does it take to fall in love?
- Funny Weight Related Pictures
If you have a funny (or even serious) weight related picture, post it for everyone to enjoy. I was always told that vertical stripes makes you look thinner; here's the proof: (I wish it was that easy)- Vacation sucks
That was an unfortunate way to start off your vacation. Look on the bright side, you have your health and can afford to go on a vacation, many people have only one or neither. Now that you are at your destination, sit back, relax and enjoy your time off. Have a great time!- Stretched Sleeve
But in all seriousness, before someone takes medical advice from an untrained person over the internet, they should try to validate the information through reputable medical journals & studies and WLS hospitals; then asking their surgeon and/or PCP to make sure (with reasonable questions or concerns, not such as: "Is it ok to eat Tacos at 2 weeks post WLS).- Stretched Sleeve
We are all doctors because we share info and experiences? I could picture my mother: "My son the doctor, a mother should be so proud".- Wanting to Over eat....
Don't binge or have food funerals. You will be able to eat the same foods at the appropriate stage, just in smaller quantities and less frequently for some, after WLS.- Vacation sucks
No jail for me. There is no way in hell I would want the nuts the stewards were offering me.- Weight loss ward?
They would have named a show after his attitude, but "Biggest Loser" was already taken.- Who got the VSG abroad?
Do you mean if a person who was a transvestite had the VSG surgery performed overseas (Travelling "a-broad"?) Never mind. I would ask your insurance provider and get your hands on a copy of their full medical plan coverage and verify it for yourself. I don't see why they shouldn't cover it, but some people posted that their particular insurance companies wouldn't. I don't know if this based on first hand knowledge or here say. - Your favorite scale?
