  1. What is the % rate of mortality that you saw? Dying of a comorbidity at a younger age due to long term obesity is much higher than that. I can't write you paragraphs of why you should have this surgery, you already know and there are thousands of posts here why you should too. Contact your surgeon's office and if necessary make a quick appointment to speak to them to reassure yourself. Good luck.
  2. You SERIOUSLY, SERIOUSLY, SERIOUSLY need to find a new primary physician. Her comments reflect the incredible depth of her prejudice against obese persons and her lack of understanding about the disease of obesity in general. Appalling! I guess the "MD" after her PCP's name stands for "Major Douchebag".
  3. If life hands you lemons, make.lemonade. Then add some vodka and enjoy.
  4. There is no need for a funeral. Food didn't die, you can eat everything you did before the WLS at the proper phase, just in smaller quantities and for some foods, less frequently.
  5. Pop Tart ads? I have the free service here. Alex, can I have my money back?
  6. Congratulations. Keep up your excellent weight loss efforts.
  7. Congratulations on your efforts so far. Keep up the great work.
  8. Don't beat yourself up over it. The "3 week stall" (and other plateaus) are very common. You could probably find hundreds of posts on this website alone on this subject.
  9. Nuts are healthy and offer some good health benefits. Just be careful of the calories and measure your servings. If you eat them one at a time, instead of a few at a time, they are a good way to satisfy between-meal hunger. Here's some info on some common nuts and seeds.
  10. You are doing this for your health, both mental and physical. People who are self-righteous and judgmental and do not see that it is necessary for you to lose that excess weight via a WLS tool are not your friends. Without rehashing what lifestyle commitments you need to make and enduring the surgery, it is definitely not an easy way out. You can always tell people you are on a medically supervised diet, making healthier food choices and eating less, and exercising (leave out the surgery part). Congratulations on your decision.
  11. Keep up tremendous effort you have made so far. Congratulations for the birth of your child.
  12. Taking women to restaurants and other places out on dates, buying them presents and flowers costs a few coins. Nothing more in what I wrote, nothing less. To compare what I wrote to rape? FYI, I know someone who was raped, I would never write anything that could even be misconstrued as a joke about that. Wow, you have some serious anger issues that need to be addressed. Good thing I didn't tell you to "get off your high horse" in an earlier post, you probably would have compared that to animal cruelty. Give it a break, you are wrong in how you interpreted what I wrote. There are bigger causes out there for you to champion. Take a deep breath and try to have a good day.
  13. Thanks for the offer, we already have a rescue cat that likes to scratch up our furniture too.
  14. But someone incorrectly declaring something as an insult doesn't make it an insult.
  15. They censored the word "pu$$y". Actually using dollar signs is not that far off base sometimes. Is it really necessary to join this thread just to insult women? Sent from my KFJWI using the BariatricPal App Really? Didn't you see it as a joke, hence the "smiley face" at the end? If not, I'm sorry you misinterpreted what I wrote. If you want to be self righteous and stand on a soap box, I have read many deliberately insulting things towards men in other posts, perhaps your misplaced anger would be better suited in those posts. "You aren't really acting as yourself, have a Snicker's bar".
  16. They censored the word "pu$$y". Actually using dollar signs is not that far off base sometimes.
  17. "Maybe I should just get more cats..."? Yes, I am in favor of any plan that involves getting more "pussy".
  18. Use smaller utensils. Put your fork down between bites. Consciously count the number of chews and chew slowly. If necessary pre cut your food into small pieces. If eating with other people, have conversations, that is not only interesting and fun, but it will take you longer to eat. Partition your portion, if you ate the first half too fast, wait a few minutes before eating the other half. You can do it! To be honest, I still need to improve on this too.
  19. Probably more of an acidic issue. I read a study where caffeine consumption can slow wound healing. You would need a fairly large amount of caffeine to have a significant diuretic effect. Follow your surgeon's plan, you can introduce caffeine later (in moderation) if you choose at the appropriate stage.
  20. What a putz that person is! A medically supervised diet leading up to the surgery, surgically altering your intestines and/or stomach, a lifetime commitment to eating a little differently and exercising, taking a small risk of something going wrong during or after the surgery (versus a very high risk if doing nothing at all, developing comorbidities and living a shorter lifetime)....I'll rather be a "cheater" on the green side of the turf. They should be a "cheater" too to have a surgeon remove their head out of their backside, rather than them doing it "the old fashion way" themselves.
  21. You can try those flatulence medicines or get a dog (to blame it on).
  22. Give them a call and ask.
