@@innwtitdtity congrats and I think your weight loss is awesome. I also don't want to lose too fast and would rather go at a steady rate. I have been working out and weight training to keep my muscle tone and still noticing my close much looser. I am happy with my pace so far and so is my surgeon.
Celebrate your anniversary, you have come so far!!

I have ate bread a couple of times. As everyone said, when I was about 4-weeks post op, I tried it and felt aweful immediately. I waited 3 weeks later and yeah wait a couple weeks later. I'm 7 weeks out and I have tried a wheat roll. Tiny small bites wet with gravy or broth. I ate my vegs and Protein then little bites of moistened bread. Haven't tried toast maybe I will this weekend when I am at home in case there is trouble because I do want some toast.
I agree with everyone if something does fit, try again later. Congrats, best of luck and keep us posted!

lisaanewme67 got a reaction from Daisee68 in Time off work for recovery
Ok update. I am 5-weeks post op now... My first response back on May 5th, I was pre-op and I only planned for 2-weeks out after surgery. I have a desk job 75% of the day so I felt 2-weeks would be enough. Based on my PCP high recommendation, I took 4-weeks and BOY did I need it. At two weeks, I would NEVER had been ready to come back. Energy level was still low, still sore, new tummy was still uneasy and still on some pain meds plus starting all Vitamins requirments. Although I felt better than surgery week at 2-weeks post-op, I still needed that additional resting/adjusting time. Just something to think about.
If all else, request more than 2 weeks and if you don't need it and feel up to going back after 2-weeks, go fo rit!

lisaanewme67 got a reaction from WinchSight in Dumping syndrome terrifies me...
I'm almost 5 weeks post-op and the first I experienced was this past Saturday. I felt uncomfortable feeling in my chest, I burped alot also stomach gurgling and my body temperature felt hot. I had some chicken off of the grill and some veggies I believe the chicken may have had some BBQ Sauce glaze that I didn't realize at the time and/or I may have ate it too fast. However, today, I had my appointment with my surgeon so I grabbed a hard boiled egg and turkey sausage from our cafeteria. I don't know what happened, but after my appointment I had Water (which was 30 minutes after I ate) I started feeling uncomfortable in my chest, hiccups then headache. Next thing I know I'm in the bathroom throwing up my entire Breakfast. Not sure what was in that turkey sausage and hard boiled egg but my tummy didn't like it. Once it was out of my body, I felt great! Nothing severe but I watch for all of the signs from the beginning of my meals.

lisaanewme67 got a reaction from WinchSight in This can't be dumping... but what is it?
Wow @@aelovelady, at what point in post-op were you able to eat so freely??? I am afraid of everything that I put in my mouth including things that are considered within my plan. I don't want to ever experience dumping but reality, I know it is there and will eventually strike. It is amazing how some things are such second nature to us... Saturday, I was making brownies with my daughter. I'm thinking the entire time, these are NOT for me, they are off limits. Well after I took them out of the oven. I broke off a piece, not thinking, and stuck it in my mouth chewed and swallowed and them BAM it hit me... Oh Sh**t, I can't eat that but it was too late. I waited and waited for the punishment, pacing/freaking out and nothing ever happened!!! I am 17 days post-op and I plan to stay on track as much as possible but as you said, we are ALL human. I am happy that you have had so much success.

lisaanewme67 got a reaction from Tricebhasstyle in Losing too much weight
Hello ladies, I was worried about the same which is why initially I only wanted the sleeve. BUT due to my multiple med conditions, It was in my best interest to have the gastric bypass. My surgeon told me not to worry about the weight loss. It will be fast and drastic at first. However with resistance training added to exercise, it will reduce the amount we muscle mass lost. That makes a big difference when losing weight. So that's my Plan. I am 14 days postop from my bypass & I feel truly blessed. As @@robinsmj said its all about our health. It will be fine. All the best & continued prayers to you both on your journey!

Thanks Alex, awesome article. I am 3-weeks postop and am happy with my experience so far. I do read posts from members about losing slow. I haven't felt any sadness about weight loss. I am happy with each pound that is not there when I weigh myself. I have struggled as many others with losing a single pound and keeping it off at times. Therefore, I am very grateful for weight loss surgery. Battling Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, High Cholesteral and sleep apnea before surgery, I know this has saved my life. I do understand how those members feel and use how they feel as an inspiration to stay focused. I talk to my team and read posts from the veterans here to get me through.
