I definitely experienced this. It does get better but it is one reason I think it's a good idea for folks to take their time going back to work even if they feel physically ok.

Fortunately, we live in Florida where in the warmer months, we can use the pool on the lanai. Very quiet and dark neighborhood. I go in with my husband every night. We check out the stars and planets and often see meteors. I wear a tank top and undies. No lights, or course. I have four or five ancient but nice suits ... that do not fit! I hope when I get back to a size I can fit into that the elastic hasn't died.

A year out and can't do raw salads. As a matter of fact, I can barely do raw veggies. I can do spinach, tomatoes, & cukes raw but that's about it. Anything else uncooked pi$$e$ off my sleeve. This includes fruits like grapes and apples, sadly.
As an alternative I'll roast my veggies and mix up to make what I call a roasted vegetable salad. It can be a mix of any veg that can stand up to heat, a bit of olive oil or non-stick spray, herbs and a grind of sea salt. I mostly stick with lower-carb veggies like green Beans, asparagus, Brussels sprouts, onions, peppers or whatever the farmer's market had or what I have in my veggie patch. Since its summer I'll throw sweet corn into the mix...about 1/8 of a whole ear. I'll also top off with crumbled bacon that's been de-greased. Yumm. I make it for whole family and can get in about 1/4 cup after I eat the pure Protein.< /p>

I really like the chocolate Premier drink too. It's my Breakfast every day. I tried the vanilla and it was waaay too, well, vanillaey (new word). They had 12 packs on sale last week for $14 so I bought three, the maximum they allowed. costco has 18 packs for around $25. They pack a lot of Protein in a reasonable number of calories.
I went for my annual check up earlier this week. My surgeon was very pleased with my weight loss. He wants me to write up my experience to share with other 60+ people who think they're too old for the surgery. Made my day!

I'm hoping to follow in your footsteps, Ann. To keep my previous post from a boring list, I left out a lot of stuff. I go to the gym 4-5 days a week for at least an hour and a half each time, and walk in my neighborhood every evening. I also take Miramax every other day. I drink my 64 oz every day plus more many days. Haven't eaten an Apple with skin yet, as Apple's aren't my favorite fruit, but I eat pears and kiwi fruit often. I took a probiotic capsule everyday before surgery because I've always had a problem, but not to this extent. I was a little nervous about taking a large capsule but I guess it's time! Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm on it!

Bubbletoes reacted to NthQldAus in How much did you guys lose in the first month?
    I am exactly 4 weeks post-op tomorrow, so I feel I may be a good person to answer your question;
My surgeon and dietition told me that the first 4/6 weeks post op is NOT about losing weight. It's a byproduct for sure, but your focus should be on recovering and getting your body READY for school again.
This is a marathon, a life long marathon. The first 4 weeks for me have been pretty good and easy going. I've had no major issues and lost a bit of weight - but it's going to get better from here on in because i've looked after myself, rather than trying to get short-term results.
EDIT - I forgot to add that I updated my profile with correct figures <<< over there. So 48lbs in 4 weeks.

I'm a bloke, but a pretty 'nervously confident' sort of bloke... I deal with insecurities with inapropiate jokes and a false confidence.
So when people started giving me the 'omg, you look great - you've lost heaps of weight' - I just shouted ''Where is it? Fat arse, where are you?'' turned around and literally ran off down the corridoor.
Seemed to work - they didn't mention it again

Bubbletoes got a reaction from ProudGrammy in Goal?
I'm 5'8" and my fantasy goal weight is 150, but realistically I would be fine with 160 which was my teenage weight many years ago. (I'm 64). I've been in sizes 20 to 26 and back since that time. All I know is the sizes must've changed drastically because at 150-160 I was the "fat girl" at school and wore a 16-18. My body is weird and always has been. I have skinny legs and arms, but my middle is a huge globe and my boobs have been XXL forever. I look like a baked potato with toothpicks for legs and arms. My surgeon even commented on my skinny legs last month at my one month post op checkup. That's where I've lost my weight. ????. I will be thrilled to be in onederland, but I want to run and jump and play with my grandchildren without huffing, puffing and asking for help getting up off the floor (or heaven forbid) that beanbag chair! I started at 276 and am hovering around 233 now. I feel better already but I want to feel super better! ????. At least I don't feel like I could die at any moment like I did a few short months ago. I was sleeved on May 20th.

Bubbletoes reacted to LovinSoul in Do you miss food?
I'm with mostly everyone else. No, I don't miss food because I seem to be able to have mostly what I want in moderation and do pretty strictly limit all the white foods...bread, Pasta, potatoes, etc. And I have found great choices on many restaurants 'light' menus. I don't miss foods, but I must admit I miss being able to eat a lot of favorite foods at a meal sometimes. Like, I love good beef steak sometimes and miss being able to eat more or it, but in the big picture it's a small sacrifice for feeling, looking and being soooo much better and healthier!

Bubbletoes got a reaction from AfitRN2015 in When do our "insides" heal?
I had my sleeve on May 20, and had 6 incisions due to extensive lysis of adhesions. I feel all healed on the inside but since I'm a type 1 diabetic, my external incisions are still in various stages of healing. I'm a very slow healer. Remarkably, my larger incision is almost completely healed, but several of the smaller ones are still scabby. Annoying? You bet! I'm just happy I'm healed on the inside. I'm also happy to say that my insulin has been cut way back and my A1c done since surgery was 5.9! I've never had one that low in more than 45 years!!! I thank my tiny tummy for helping me lose weight and stay in control every day!

Bubbletoes I agree sizes or people aren't what they use to be! I read all these posts of people who say they're 5'5" tall and weigh 155 pounds and they're wearing size six! 30 plus years ago a size six was the smallest they made and you'd have to be 5'4" and 110 pounds to wear them!
