Sad as it may be....yes! OMG I'm right there with you! So very true. ????????

I've considered wls for about six years now, however I got to my highest weight, developed hypertension and then the joint pain came. I've been on and off diets most of my adult life plus my family has a history of HBP, heart disease and diabetes... I'm 37, my mother died at 55 and I don't want to follow the same path. So I've decided WLS and a permanent change to a healthier lifestyle is just what I need to live a full life.

First find a surgeon that you are comfortable with. Once you have chosen your doctor, they will walk you through the steps and their office will go through all the insurance red tape for you. Also, the surgeons office usually recommends a psychiatrist and nutritionist for you. As far as Fed BCBS goes they want you to have three months of documented medically supervised weight loss program, actually four, your initial visit and three visits thereafter. Don't worry I was denied in April, I appealed it and just found out on Monday that my appeal was approved. Hang in there. Everything happens when it's supposed to. You'll have your surgery sooner than you know! ????

August 17th is my date. Anxiously waiting to start a healthier life!

Hello all!!!!! So I just found out my appeal worked and I'm approved for surgery!!! Looks like it will be in August! I'm excited and nervous at the same time. New and healthier me here I come! ☺️

A size 10 would be ideal... I'd be happy as a 12 though.

As of right now BCBS said the denial notice was sent to me and my surgeon's office on 3/20 but neither of us has received it. I'll keep you all posted as the situation progresses.

The surgical coordinator at the WLS center told me last week Friday that she received a message from BCBS. She said once we get the denial notice we'll forge ahead with an appeal. But I'm totally disappointed and confused. And I've received no notice of denial to date. I've done everything per the guidelines for approval that Fed BCBS outlines. The surgical coordinator said the BCBS rep mentioned it had something to do with my 3 mos requirement in a medically supervised program but I turned in all the paperwork that shows I did one for four months within the last two years (which is what Fed BCBS says is a prerequisite). Has anyone else had this issue and how was a it resolved?
