Help! Best way to take Actigall and Prilosec?
Hey there. I had RNY and thought the same thing... How does everyone else do this? I empty the actigall into a tiny bit of SF pudding and it still tastes bitter, but it works for me. I asked if I could take it whole and my team said likely after the 6 week appointment. I acidentally dropped a capsule into Water and I was shocked at how fast the capsule dissolved. I switched to pantoprazole and it's a very tiny pill that's a PIP similar to prilosec (omeprazole). I was able to take the prilosec originally; it's a tiny tablet. Do what your team says, but my team said no larger than a pencil eraser. BTW, I switched to pantoprazole because my insurance didn't cover the prilosec since it is available OTC. Good luck and check in with your doctor!

Anyone else backed up?
@@Djmohr I tried doing miralax with a protein shake (not RTD) and it turned out clumpy and gross. Do you usually use miralax with water?

Feeling Tired all The Time
Hey! You're not alone. I'm 3 wks post-op and I'm feeling it too! My goals right now are water, protein, vitamins and a good sleep schedule. I'm hoping it will help. We have to remember we went through a MAJOR surgery.

Sour/vinegar cravings
I've been craving Claussen dill pickles and green olives. I think it's the salt, so maybe different than your post!

My doctor is having me eat pureed foods already 3 days post op. Is that normal?
My team had me on pureed on day 2 as well. I am on it until 4-6 weeks.

I like using the app called Hydro Coach. You can set reminders and also set goals and time frames for you to drink the water. I use it on my android phone.

IMPORTANT: Are you using a Bariatric vitamin brand that fails to meet label claims?
Important to consider with such a wide range of vitamins available. Outside of bariatric specific vits I usually look for the USP symbol.

Pre op liquid diet
My program was 2 weeks as well! The first couple of days are tough, but then I was SO surprised. I didn't know where my hunger went. It was non-existent. Also, it helps to understand why the diet is important. I'm sure you have heard that it makes surgery technically easier for your team. It also reduces complications with your liver!

Week 3 of post op
@@jennylew, thanks for sharing! I'm sure someone on here will benefit. Such a bummer that you had a slight set back. I hope things get better and better every day! P.S. I had surgery on August 6th!

4 Weeks Post-Op

Thanks everyone! I asked my PA to change the script to Pantoprazole!

Congrats! Isn't that the best feeling? I didn't call because I was at work, but I like Aetna's chat feature through the Aetna Navigator portal. That's one way I found out! I found it easier than calling.

Surgery tomorrow 8/20/15, what to expect afterwards?
@@zackly I think I had a smooth recovery time! I was almost sent home the day after surgery, but asked to stay due to going home alone (I'm a nervous nelly). The gas pain was the worst for me, and made it challenging to drink much. The left incision hurt the most, but I tried to use my arms to boost me around in the hospital bed. I was on morphine via IV, and then liquid oxycodone. I weaned off that and only used a little liquid tylenol for the 3rd day after. Good luck with your surgery!!

Only 11 lbs! ???? and constipation
@@newnewme4, I've had around 12 pounds as well and I feel like I've cut back my eating and that the weight should be pouring off. I know I need to bump up my water intake as I'm usually hitting around 40oz. Let's hope our bodies are trying to figure out what the heck is going on! Hang in there!

Anyone thrown your scale away?
This topic is perfect timing for me. I feel like I'm a bit too obsessive right now - 2 weeks out. I'm thinking I'll ask my provider if I can weigh in at my visits for the first 5-6 months. I figure if I'm tracking what I'm eating and exercising then I know what changes to make. My RD from a couple years back was always about "how do your close fit?" I can see it going both ways, but I don't want to be obsessive either!

Alternatives to Omeprazole?
Does anyone take a prescription medication that is similar to omeprazole? My insurance won't cover it, so I'm buying OTC. This is fine, but I'd prefer to have a Rx that would be covered since I hit my deductible. Thanks for any advice!

@@violetroyalty Good to get it checked out. I hope she is ok! I had a weird sensation too, but I thought I was just being overly anxious.
