4 Weeks Post-Op

Hi friends! Yesterday was my 4 week post-op. Things are going well. I have been able to tolerate soft foods and am beginning to add "regular" goods a little at a time. The only issue I have is the one that most of you have talked about.......constipation. It is a struggle to get in the 80 grams of Protein and 64 ounces of Fluid, but I will continue to strive to make it!

I'll be four weeks on Thursday and I'm struggling with the same issues. On a good note, I'm down 32 pounds - 16 pounds pre-op.

Good luck.

@@FrankinTexas have you tired these Protein shakes I posted below? They are tasty and packed full of 30 grams of protein per container. I normally only have one a day to help me hit my protein goal. Also I just made my some homemade chili yesterday and that too is packed with protein. I saw my doctor today and he is very happy with what I'm doing this far ???? for things to drink I am drinking a lot of Water, crystal light and a little apple juice with no sugar added. Frank I hope this helps a little bit.

@@FrankinTexas, I know what you mean about the constipation! I'm almost 3 weeks post surgery and I put benefiber in my 2-3 protein shakes. I also went and grabbed the Costco version of miralax as well. Great to hear things are going well for you!!

Thanks for the advice, guys. I find that my tastes are changing and am not able to tolerate protein drinks like I once was. I have been using Unjury, but have also tried Premier Protein.

Here is the bad news, I am 11 months post op and still struggle with constipation. I have to take stool softener with laxative twice a day.

I will say, that has been the worst part for me but I have it under control now.

Remember that your body only absorbs about 20 grams of protein at a time so you will need to drink some of it later by waiting at least an hour after finishing the first part of the container. :)

Miralax mixed with crystal light every few days works well for me!
