Bailey Bariatrics in Owasso
Ugh, I've been struggling too. I've been stuck at the same weight for about a month, which makes it even harder to stay motivated to eat right! Starting today, I'm getting back to basics - only focusing on protein and no carbs! We can do this!

Has anyone tried using HCG with post surgery diet?
I also don't think it's a good idea, if only because of the excess skin and hair loss. You usually have both from WLS and the hcg will make it worse, I think. I lost 45 lbs on hcg a few years ago but gained it all back plus more after I stopped the diet!

spaghetti squash
Who eats spaghetti squash and how far out were you when you ate it? I'm 8 weeks and can have soft veggies but wasn't sure if spaghetti squash would be included.

To Catheter or Not to Catheter?
My dr cathed me but I begged for it to be taken out as soon as I woke up and they did. They want you to walk as much as possible after surgery anyway.

Anyone try new Fairlife milk?
I have switched to it and so has hubby, who has not had WLS nor does he need it. We love the extra protein and it doesn't taste bad!

Liquid vitamins?
Has anyone taken liquid Vitamins post op and have one you recommend? I am 4 weeks out and I can't stand the chewable vitamins I was recommended. I have been looking at liquids but there are so many available, I don't know which one to buy!

lunch meats
At what point did you start eating lunch meat? I am 4 weeks out but my paperwork never listed lunch meat, hot dogs, etc as options. I was thinking of wrapping lunch meat around a piece of cheese or eating a turkey hot dog.

Essential Oils
Does anyone have experience with taking essential oils internally after surgery? The brand I use, doTerra, includes supplement facts on any that can be taken internally. Before surgery, I was using lemon oil in my water everyday. I have multiple things I'd like to use in a capsule form but I'm concerned. I'm only 4 weeks out so I don't want to swallow anything that might irritate my new tummy.

Sleeved with PCOS, don't want to get pregnant
I am almost 3 weeks post op sleeve. I take birth control pills to regulate my cycle but I've been spotting/bleeding on and off since my surgery almost 3 weeks ago. Is it possible my pills aren't being absorbed well enough and I could possibly end up pregnant? That is the last thing I want right now!

Need help...Nectar Protein Powder
I couldn't handle the taste either!

When did you start exercising?
I'm 2 weeks post op and wondering when I should start exercising. I've been walking outside but my hubby thinks I should be hitting the gym already.

I wasn't given a calorie goal, only protein goal and a list of approved foods. But I'm only 2 weeks post op. I've been getting less than 500 calories. I know some people who are 2 years past surgery and they eat around 1000 calories a day. I think if you try to hit your protein goal and choose lean/low fat foods, you probably don't need to worry about calories.

Did anyone else get a pill your supposed to take for first three months to protect the stomach?
This is me, too. The 1000 mg of Tums is for calcium rather than heartburn, though. Tums are calcium carbonate and post-op we do better with calcium citrate. You should ask your nutritionist about switching to something like Citrical. Pre-op I was on Tums for calcium as well, but post-op I was told to switch for better absorption. I was told to take calcium bicarbonate for the first 6 weeks then switch to calcium citrate.

I was given an rx for pepcid twice a day and told to also take tums for the first 6 weeks.

When Did You Start Soft / Pureed Foods?
My surgeon advises to start soft/pureed foods at 2 weeks out.

8 days post-op, no BM, and gained weight
I have been trying but, no, I haven't been getting in all the fluids they say I should get. I'll keep working on it. My dr said to call back if no BM in 2 more days and they will call in an rx for something.

8 days post-op, no BM, and gained weight
I was sleeved 3/31, no complications, and came home on 4/1. Since then, my weight has remained the same until today when I gained 1 lb. I have not had a BM yet, even though I've been drinking miralax the last 3 days. I'm starting to freak out and am very discouraged! Is this normal or should I call my surgeon?

HAD SURGERY 3/31/15
I also was sleeved on 3/31. Spent 1 night in the hospital. I have been having a lot of shoulder and back pain. I'm thinking it's probably the trapped gas. I'm struggling to get my water and protein in. I feel like I don't really know what my stomach is telling me - am I hungry, full, nauseous? It's a weird sensation for sure! my stomach makes weird noises every time I take a drink and sometimes it hurts very briefly but that goes away.
-
The date is set 31st of March
How did all the 3/31 surgeries go? I've been having quite a bit of nausea but otherwise doing ok. Trying to drink as much as possible. I should get to go home tomorrow.

Bailey Bariatrics in Owasso
I am having the sleeve at Bailey on Tuesday! I am using Dr Katsis. I'm super scared but I know about 10 people who have had WLS at Bailey and they all did fine.

The date is set 31st of March
Mine is the 31st as well. I am scared to death but trying not to think about it too much!

How much did you lose on preop diet?
I'm on day 4 of 14 and I've already lost 6.5 lbs with no cheating. My BMI was 37 at my last appt.

POLL: How true did you follow the pre-op liquid diet?
I'm on day 3 of 14 of my pre surgery diet. I am not allowed any solid food and my "shakes" have to be no sugar added Carnation Instant Breakfast, which has almost no protein. I can also have sugar free jello and sugar free popsicles. I haven't cheated and I hope I won't but I'm hungry!
